Evaluation of mandibular Deprogramming Using TENS (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation) in Patients at the Specialty Clinic of the Juarez Autonomous University of Tabasco from 2022 to 2024

Temporomandibular disorders (TmD) negatively affect quality of life, causing pain and restricted jaw movements. This study evaluates the effectiveness of Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS) on TmD patients before orthodontic treatment at the Juarez Autonomous University of Tabasco. A quantitative, quasi-experimental study was conducted with 30 patients who met the inclusion criteria: aged 18 to 65 years, with TmJ pain symptoms, diagnosed with temporomandibular disorders using the Helkimo index, and who had provided informed consent for the study. The range of mandibular movement and the Visual Analog Scale (VAS) were measured to record values before therapy. The electrodes of the TENS therapy were positioned on both sides of the jaw in the preauricular area and the masseter muscle, the therapy was administered for 40 minutes, utilizing a frequency of 2 - 4 Hz and a pulse duration of 300 microseconds. Following this, the range of mandibular movement and the VAS were reassessed to evaluate the outcomes., significantly improved maximum mouth opening (37.7 ± 6.4 mm to 44.6 ± 5.88 mm), right laterality (3.86 ± 1.57 mm to 5.43 ± 1.21 mm), left laterality (3.13 ± 1.63 mm to 4.53 ± 1.61 mm), protrusion (4.01 ± 1.7 mm to 5.36 ± 1.32 mm), and pain perception (4.56 ± 2.045 to 2.03 ± 1.5) (P mandibular movement and reduces pain, making it a well-tolerated, non-invasive complementary treatment for TmD.

Quantifying Kinematic Tremor in an NGLY1-Deficient Individual: A Case Study

NGLY1 Deficiency is an autosomal recessive congenital disorder that has been identified in less than 100 individuals. most individuals with NGLY1 Deficiency display hyperkinetic movement disorders, including choreiform, athetoid, dystonic myoclonic, dyskinetic, and dysmetric movements. Developing a consistent and concise consensus on the classification and evaluation of tremors is essential to forward the research and treatment of tremors. It has also been reported that some individuals with NGLY1 Deficiency demonstrate tremor, but such tremor has never been formally investigated. The primary objective of this study is to determine if an individual with NGLY1 Deficiency demonstrates an identifiable tremor during a series of arm movements and, if so, describe the frequency and power characteristics of that tremor. Arm movement kinematics were obtained using a 16-camera Vicon system, and time series trajectory waveforms for three planes of a marker placed on the hand were developed. Custom mATLAB scripts were utilized to compute Fast Fourier Transformations of the data within the identified waveform segments. A mean frequency of 2.30 Hz (SD = 1.05) with a mean power of 5.02 |P1(f)| (SD = 4.63) suggests that our participant’s kinematic data did display a persistent tremor in both hands across all tasks and movement planes. Analyses of the reaching hand and the non-reaching hand suggest the participant displayed an action tremor in both postural and intention (kinetic) tremors. Future directions should include assessing additional individuals with NGLY1 Deficiency to determine if the tremor is a distinguishable disorder behavior. Additionally, evaluating other anatomical sites, such as the elbow, head, and lower limbs, would provide further insights into the characteristics of this tremor.

Influence of humidity on conduction processes in gas-insulated devices

Humidity has been considered as one of the main influencing factors that determine the conduction processes and electric strength of gas-insulated *** in the past,various studies focused on the change in the partial discharge inception voltages,breakdown strength of homogeneous and inhomogeneous field arrangements,and insulator flashover voltage,recent studies have investigated the changes in ion currents measured through different gas *** the framework of this contribution,a highly precise humidity control circuit has been developed to analyse the significance of humidity in the range from−25 to−5°C frost-point,which is fully applicable to operating gas-insulated *** sulphur hexafluoride(SF6)as the insulation gas at 0.45 mPa,Al2O3-filled epoxy resin insulators,and technically rough electrodes,the humidity was found to significantly influence the intensity of microdischarges at *** generation from microdischarges at the interfaces substantially increased with increasing *** an electric field of 5 kV/mm that were applicable to the dimensioning of gas-insulated devices,humidity strongly influences the charge provision from technically rough interfaces and potentially contributes to the surface-charge accumulation at insulator *** the other hand,for low-field conduction phenomena,no increase in the ion currents from natural ionisation or electrophoretic conduction was *** the investigated range of parameters,humidity is expected to be highly relevant for the design of gas-insulated devices.

Battery impedance spectrum prediction from partial charging voltage curve by machine learning

Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy(EIS) is an effective technique for Lithium-ion battery state of health diagnosis, and the impedance spectrum prediction by battery charging curve is expected to enable battery impedance testing during vehicle operation. However, the mechanistic relationship between charging curves and impedance spectrum remains unclear, which hinders the development as well as optimization of EIS-based prediction techniques. In this paper, we predicted the impedance spectrum by the battery charging voltage curve and optimized the input based on electrochemical mechanistic analysis and machine learning. The internal electrochemical relationships between the charging curve,incremental capacity curve, and the impedance spectrum are explored, which improves the physical interpretability for this prediction and helps define the proper partial voltage range for the input for machine learning models. Different machine learning algorithms have been adopted for the verification of the proposed framework based on the sequence-to-sequence predictions. In addition, the predictions with different partial voltage ranges, at different state of charge, and with different training data ratio are evaluated to prove the proposed method have high generalization and robustness. The experimental results show that the proper partial voltage range has high accuracy and converges to the findings of the electrochemical analysis. The predicted errors for impedance spectrum are less than 1.9 mΩ with the proper partial voltage range selected by the corelative analysis of the electrochemical reactions inside the batteries. Even with the voltage range reduced to 3.65–3.75 V, the predictions are still reliable with most RmSEs less than 4 mO.

Catalyst-and solvent-free,thermal generation of microporous polymer networks

multifunctional iodoaryl monomers were used for the catalyst- and solvent-free generation of microporous polymer networks of high surface areas up to 732mEg-1. The thermal conversion of the monomers relies on the homolytic cleavage of weak iodine-carbon bonds followed by a C-C coupling of the radicalic intermediates. By using tri- or tetrafunctional monomers and by tuning reaction temperature and time, the optimum reaction conditions allow the formation of the corresponding microporous networks in good yields of 71%-86%. The resulting networks exhibit notable high CO2 and H2 adsorption capacities of up to 8.89 wt% （273K, 1 bar） and up to 1.31 wt% （77K, 1 bar）, respectively.

Investigation of multi-step fast charging protocol and aging mechanism for commercial NmC/graphite lithium-ion batteries

Fast charging is considered a promising protocol for raising the charging efficiency of electric ***,high currents applied to Lithium-ion(Li-ion)batteries inevitably accelerate the degradation and shorten their *** work designs a multi-step fast-charging method to extend the lifetime of LiNi0.5Co0.2mn0.3O2(NmC)/graphite Li-ion batteries based on the studies of half cells and investigates the aging mechanisms for different charging *** degradation has been studied from both full cell behaviour and materials perspectives through a combination of non-destructive diagnostic methods and post-mortem *** the proposed multi-step charging protocol,the state-of-charge(SOC)profile is subdivided into five ranges,and the charging current is set differently for different SOC *** of the designed multi-step fast charging protocols is shown to allow for a 200 full equivalent cycles longer lifetime as compared to the standard charging method,while the charging time is reduced by 20%.From the incremental capacity analysis and electrical impedance spectroscopy,the loss of active materials and lithium inventory on the electrodes,as well as an increase in internal resistance for the designed multistep constant-current-constant-voltage(mCCCV)protocol have been found to be significantly lower than for the standard charging ***-mortem analysis shows that cells aged by the designed mCCCV fast charging protocol exhibit less graphite exfoliation and crystallization damage,as well as a reduced solid electrolyte interphase(SEI)layer growth on the anode,leading to a lower Rseiresistance and extended lifetime.

Regime dynamics of hydrochemical and toxicological parameters of the Irtysh River in Kazakhstan

Since the Irtysh River flows through the important economic, ecological and social territories of China, Kazakhstan and Russia, the water quality issues growingly draw the attention of the water authorities from these countries. Therefore, a detailed study of the hydrochemical regime and toxicological indicators in Kazakhstan was carried out for understanding the regime dynamics of water quality and its affect factors. The combined assessment of maximum permissible concentration （mPC） of chemical components and biotesting method were proposed and performed for the study area. The results clearly showed that the concentrations of single chemical component at different locations are mostly under mPC standard in a basin scale. However, the watershed surface runoff and tributary stream flow from mining industry areas had high concentration of heavy metals and had significant impact on the water quality near Ust-Kamenogorsk. Furthermore, even the stream water generally meet mPC standard, the results of biotesting method show the toxicity level of water sample is lethal for the test objects of phytoplankton and Daphnia. The survival rates of most water samples are lower than 46.7%. Hereby, this study strongly suggests using combined water assessment methods to evaluate the water quality.

Improving interruption performance of mechanical circuit breakers by controlling pre-current-zero wave shape

mechanical circuit breakers(mCBs)are the limiting component for current injection HVDC circuit *** their interruption performance reduces requirements for capacitance and inductance needed in the injection circuit and thus space use and *** performance can be achieved by creating a period of low current gradient before zero crossing in the mCB,*** using a saturable inductor(SI).In this paper,the impact of duration and steepness during the low current-gradient phase is linked to arc parameters of the investigated model gas circuit *** is shown in a scaled experimental setup that an optimum design of the SI can be derived from arc time constant and interruption limits for constant current *** optimisation results in a considerable increase of interruption *** feasibility of implementing an SI in a full-scale HVDC circuit breaker is demonstrated using *** an improved injection scheme,the stresses for the mCB can be reduced ***,the injection circuit components can be scaled down,making the topology more *** reduced interruption requirements might also make it possible to use a single gas interrupter instead of a series connection of vacuum interrupters,reducing the complexity of the mechanical switch.
