中国和英国子宫内膜异位症患者的发病相关因素分析

目的研究子宫内膜异位症发病的相关因素及其在中国和英国患者之间可能的差异。方法采用病例对照研究方法,选取英国牛津John Radcliffe Hospital收治的子宫内膜异位症患者387例和非子宫内膜异位症患者199例、广州中医药大学第一附属医院收治的子宫内膜异位症患者101例和非子宫内膜异位症患者50例分别为病例组和对照组。通过标准化的WERF EPHect调查问卷,收集4组人群的身高、体质量、体质量指数、婚姻状况、工作状况、月经情况、生育情况、手术原因等临床资料并进行统计分析。结果多因素Logistic回归分析结果显示,英国患者中体质量指数、因痛经进行手术、怀孕史、既往子宫内膜异位症手术次数、工作情况等均与子宫内膜异位症的发生相关(P<0.05),而中国患者中痛经史与子宫内膜异位症的发生相关(P<0.05)。结论痛经可能是中国和英国子宫内膜异位症患者最主要的相关因素;同时,子宫内膜异位症发生的相关因素在中国和英国患者之间可能存在差异。

In this paper, I continue the study of the mathematical models presented in [J. C. Larsen, models of cancer growth, J. Appl. math. Comput. 53 (1–2) (2015) 613–645] and [J. C. Larsen, The bistability theorem in a model of metastatic cancer, to appear in Appl. math. ]. I shall prove the bistability theorem for the ODE model from [Larsen, 2015]. It is a mass action kinetic system in the variables C cancer, GF growth factor and GI growth inhibitor. This theorem says that for some values of the parameters, there exist two positive singular points c ∗ + = ( C ∗ + , GF ∗ , GI ∗ + ) , c ∗ − = ( C ∗ − , GF ∗ , GI ∗ − ) of the vector field. Here C ∗ − model in [Larsen, 2015], it is a linear map ( T ) on three-dimensional Euclidean vector space with variables ( C , GF , GI ) , where these variables have the same meaning as in the ODE model above. In [Larsen, 2015], I showed that one can sometimes find affine vector fields on three-dimensional Euclidean vector space whose time one map is T . I shall also show this in the present paper in a more general setting than in [Larsen, 2015]. This enables me to find an expression for the rate of change of cancer growth on the coordinate hyperplane C = 0 in Euclidean vector space. I also present an ODE model of cancer metastasis with variables C , C m , GF , GI , where C is primary cancer and C m is metastatic cancer and GF, GI are growth factors and growth inhibitors, respectively.

The muller-Lyer illusion is a well-known distortion illusion that occurs when the spatial arrangement of inducers(i.e.,inwards-or outwards-pointing arrowheads)influences a line's perceived relative *** date,this illusion has been reported in several animal species but only in 1 teleost fish(i.e.,redtail splitfins Xenotoca eiseni),although teleost fish represent approximately 50%of vertebrate *** investigated the perception of this illusion in another teleost fish:guppies Poecilia reticulata,a species that diverged from the redtail splitfin 65 million years *** guppies were trained to select the longer between 2 lines;after meeting the learning criterion,illusory trials were *** trials were also arranged to exclude the possibility that their choices were based on potential spatial biases that relate to the illusory *** guppies'overall performance indicated that they were susceptible to the muller-Lyer illusion,perceiving the line with the inwards-pointing arrowheads as *** performance in the control trials excluded the possibility that the subjects used the physical differences between the 2 figures as the discriminative cue in the illusory *** study suggests that sensibility to the muller-Lyer illusion could be widespread across teleost fish and reinforces the idea that the perceptual mechanisms underlying size estimation might be similar across vertebrates.

Sharing sensitive data is a specific challenge for research infrastructures in the field of life sciences. For that reason a toolbox has been developed, providing resources for researchers who wish to share and use sensitive data, to support the workflows for handling these kinds of digital objects. Common and community approved annotations are required to be compliant with FAIR principles(Findability, Accessibility,Interoperability, Reusability). The toolbox makes use of a tagging(categorisation) system, allowing consistent labelling and categorisation of digital objects, in terms relevant to data sharing tasks and activities. A pilot study was performed within the Horizon 2020 project EOSC-Life, in which 2 experts from 6 life sciences research infrastructures were recruited to independently assign tags to the same set of 10 to 25 resources related to sensitive data management and data sharing(in total 110). Summary statistics of agreement and observer variation per research infrastructure are provided. The pilot study has shown that experts were able to attribute tags but in most cases with a considerable observer variation between experts. In the context of CWFR(Canonical Workflow Frameworks for Research), this indicates the necessity for careful definition,evaluation and validation of parameters and processes related to workflow descriptions. The results from this pilot study were used to tackle this issue by revising the categorisation system and providing an updated version.

Despite the regenerative capabilities of peripheral nerves, severe injuries or neuronal trauma of critical size impose immense hurdles for proper restoration of neuro-muscular circuitry. Autologous nerve grafts improve re-establishment of connectivity, but also comprise substantial donor site morbidity. We developed a rat model which allows the testing of different cell applications, i.e., mesenchymal stem cells, to improve nerve regeneration in vivo. To mimic inaccurate alignment of autologous nerve grafts with the injured nerve, a 20 mm portion of the sciatic nerve was excised, and sutured back in place in reversed direction. To validate the feasibility of our novel model, a fibrin gel conduit containing autologous undifferentiated adipose-derived stem cells was applied around the coaptation sites and compared to autologous nerve grafts. After evaluating sciatic nerve function for 16 weeks postoperatively, animals were sacrificed, and gastrocnemius muscle weight was determined along with morphological parameters（g-ratio, axon density ＆ diameter） of regenerating axons. Interestingly, the addition of undifferentiated adipose-derived stem cells resulted in a significantly improved re-myelination, axon ingrowth and functional outcome, when compared to animals without a cell seeded conduit. The presented model thus displays several intriguing features： it imitates a certain mismatch in size, distribution and orientation of axons within the nerve coaptation site. The fibrin conduit itself allows for an easy application of cells and, as a true critical-size defect model, any observed improvement relates directly to the performed intervention. Since fibrin and adipose-derived stem cells have been approved for human applications, the technique can theoretically be performed on humans. Thus, we suggest that the model is a powerful tool to investigate cell mediated assistance of peripheral nerve regeneration.

In this work two different fluorochromes （Alexa 594 and Alexa 680） are conjugated to the same monoclonal antibody （Cetuximab） for obtaining a characteristic m-shaped dual-peak spectrum. Dual-labeling of Cetuximab by mixing both fluorochromes before the conjugation step gives spectral results similar to those of mixing of fluorochrome-labeled Cetuximab after the conjugation step （P 〉 0.05）. In conclusion, both methods may be used equivalently for producing a dual-labeled single-antibody probe. Future studies may test whether the m-shaped spectrum may increase the diagnostic confidence in tumor-targeted multispectral optical imaging.

Effects of supplementation of green tea extract on the milk performance of peripartal dairy cows and the expression of stress response genes in the liver

Background: We hypothesised that supplementation of green tea extract(GTE) in dairy cows during the transition period can attenuate proinflammatory conditions and prevent endoplasmic reticulum(ER) stress in the liver of these cows. Thirty Holstein cows with an average parity of 3.06(± 1.31, SD) were divided into a control group and a group that received a daily amount of 10 g of GTE from d 7 before the calving day and a daily amount of 20 g of GTE from the day of calving until d 7 of ***: Cows supplemented with GTE did not show differences in energy intake or milk yield in weeks 2–7 of lactation. However, these cows had a lower milk fat concentration and a lower energy corrected milk yield than the control cows and showed a trend of improved energy balance. The relative m RNA concentrations of proinflammatory genes, genes involved in the acute phase reaction and antioxidant genes in the liver in weeks 1, 4 and 7 of lactation were not different between the two groups of cows. The concentrations of α-tocopherol and the Trolox equivalent antioxidant capacity in plasma were not different between the two groups. However, the group supplemented with GTE showed significant reductions of some genes of the unfolded protein response(UPR) in week 1 and a trend of lower liver triacylglycerol(TAG) concentrations in the liver compared to the control ***: This study shows that supplementation of GTE in dairy cows lowers the fat concentration in the milk but overall has no effect on the expression of inflammatory genes and the antioxidative status in dairy cows during early lactation. The finding of reduced m RNA levels of genes involved in the UPR at week 1, however, supports other results showing that supplementation of polyphenols could prevent the development of ER stress in the liver of cows during early lactation.
