Muscle deconditioning due to hospitalisation is problematic, causing delayed discharges, more nursing, carer, or social service support following discharge, and possible discharge to a care home rather than the patient’s own home. Muscle deconditioning is associated with increased mortality, infections, depression, and reductions in patient mobility and ability to engage in their activities of daily living. Preserving muscle strength and function should form part of patients’ rehabilitation plans. Progressive resistance training (PRE) offers the most cost-effective way of preserving muscle strength and function;however, it is not routinely carried out in hospitals. A leg strengthening device (the S-Press) has been developed with the aim of improving access to effective PRE for adults. Using a qualitative approach, thematic analysis of interviews with physiotherapists, patients, and relative carers about their experience of using the S-Press provided insight into integrating PRE into patients’ rehabilitation, what promoted or prevented its use, and the outcomes associated with its use. Four overall themes emerged from the data. “Experience of Users” described that the S-Press was accessible, convenient, time efficient, portable, and manoeuvrable, and it provided an objective measure of progress. “Facilitators” included findings around how the S-Press was easy to use, motivational, and comfortable when in use. “Barriers” comprised the inability of some patients to use the S-Press independently and the identification of obstacles that prevented consistent use. “Impact and Benefits” represented the perceptions of increased leg strength and psychological benefits. The S-Press is beneficial for patients’ rehabilitation by offering PRE that is simple and easy to use, acceptable to both patients and professionals, and can be integrated as part of patients’ rehabilitation plans.

十年前,我写过一篇名为《什么是跨国电影?从中国的情境来思考》的文章。文章提出,知识是由情境与视角造就的,对于跨国电影的理解取决于你在何时、何地进行观照以及你写作的对象。文章检视并分析与理解了当时中国跨国电影相关的两个现象:中国内地、香港地区、台湾地区等地的跨境中国电影(即所谓的“华语电影”)的发展,以及更大范围的全球化现象。本文探讨自那以后所发生的变化,并提出“华文化圈电影”的概念予以应对。这一概念指涉两种截然不同的现象。首先,它回应了那些备受关注的、属于华文化圈的非汉语电影,并宣告“华语电影”概念的失效。其次,它承认民族国家观念的重现,以及一些人声称的“第二次冷战”或者我所谓的“两种全球化”现象,并以此涵盖那些在“一带一路”倡议背景下的中国电影,以及对此作出回应的非中国电影。

During the non-breeding season(September–April), Black-tailed Godwits(Limosa limosa) are commonly seen in coastal and inland wetlands of the Ganges-Brahmaputra-Meghna Delta in Bangladesh. We hypothesize that the Ganges-Brahmaputra-Meghna Delta, at the overlap between the Central Asian and East Asian–Australasian flyways, may host three subspecies that breed in disjunct areas of temperate and northern Asia: L. l. limosa, L. l. melanuroides, and L. l. bohaii. We used mitochondrial DNA(mt DNA) haplotype network and biometric analysis to determine subspecies in captured individuals, and deployed GPS–GSM transmitters to verify breeding areas of individuals with subspecies assignments. To test for differential habitat preferences, we sampled birds at two ecologically distinct habitats known to host the largest concentrations of non-breeding Black-tailed Godwits in Bangladesh: Nijhum Dweep National Park, a tidal coastal habitat with brackish water on the south-central coast, and Tanguar Haor(‘backmarsh'), a seasonal freshwater floodplain in the north. During the non-breeding seasons of 2021–2022 and 2022–2023, we sampled and measured 93 Black-tailed Godwits, 54 of which were equipped with GPS–GSM transmitters. Our mt DNA haplotype network analysis confirmed the presence of limosa, melanuroides, and bohaii subspecies at the study sites. Thus, indeed, Black-tailed Godwits subspecies, despite having distinct breeding ranges, exhibit(partially) overlapping non-breeding ranges in Asia. The subspecies composition differed significantly between sites, with limosa and bohaii dominating in Tanguar Haor and melanuroides in Nijhum Dweep. Of the 21 individuals that were tracked to their breeding grounds, 18 migrated to the expected breeding range of their respective subspecies. However, one bird with a limosa haplotype migrated to a known breeding area of bohaii, whereas two birds with melanuroides haplotypes migrated to the supposed breeding range of limosa. Pavement surface friction is a significant factor for driving safety and plays a critical role in reducing wet- pavement crashes. However, the current asphalt mixture design procedure does not directly consider friction as a requirement. The objective of this study was to develop a surface friction prediction model that can be used during a wearing course mixture design. To achieve the objective, an experimental study was conducted on the frictional characteristics of typical wearing course mixtures in Louisiana. Twelve wearing course mixtures including dense-graded and open-graded mixes with different combinations of aggregate sources were evaluated in laboratory using an accelerated polishing and testing procedure considering both micro- and macro texture properties. In addition, the surface frictional properties of asphalt mixtures were measured on twenty-two selected asphalt pavement sections using different in situ devices including Dynamic Friction Tester （DFT）, Circular Texture Meter （CTM）, and Lock-Wheel Skid Trailer （LWST）. The results have led to develop a procedure for predicting pavement end-of-life skid resistance based on the aggregate blend polish stone value, gradation parameters, and traffic, which is suited in checking whether the selected aggregates in a wearing course mix design would meet field friction requirements under a certain design traffic polishing.

The effects of aeration rate and impeller speed on the concentrate sulfur grade and recovery for batch flotation of a complex sulphide ore were investigated. The relationships between the water recovery and solid entrainment were discussed. It is found that the solid entrainment is linearly related to the water recovery regardless of aeration rate and impeller speed, and the higher sulfur recovery at the aeration rate of 2 and 4 L/min for the impeller speed of 1 500 r/min is considered to be the contribution of true flotation. Finally, the sulfur recovery flux is correlated with the bubble surface area flux based on the froth image at the different aeration rates and impeller speeds.
