Bifenthrin is an insecticide which is used to control insects, mites, and ticks. It poses a solemn en-vironmental threat and health risk to living organisms. It may be bioaccumulated or biomagnified at different trophic levels in the food chain by biota. Microbes are hidden creature of earth’s biodiversity. For isolation of bifenthrin degrading bacteria, rhizospheric soil samples of plants like Pisum sativum, Triticun aestvum, Chenopodium album were taken from tannery solid waste, Kasur, Pakistan. Enrichment culture techniques were used for the isolation of bacterial strains that showed luxurious growth on minimal growth media with bifenthrin dose was selected for biodegradation study. Bacteria were further screened out based on their morphological, biochemical parameters and degradation efficiency. Furthermore the effect of different growth factors like temperature, pH, inoculum concencentration, minimal inhibitory concentration of heavy metals and antibiotics were also studied. Bacterial strains of Xanthomonas and Bacillus sp. were identified as efficient degrading microbes. Maximum bifenthrin utilization were observed at 25°C (pH 7), with 500 μL inoculum of Bacillus sp., while Xanthomonas sp. gave optimm utilization at 30°C (pH 7) at the same inoculum volume of bacteria. The Rf values of Bacillus sp. and Xanthomonas sp. were 0.91 and 0.90 respectively, which indicated their potential to metabolize bifenthrin into nontoxic forms. These strains can be used to clean up the sites polluted with pesticides and tannery wastes when present in rhizosphere of plants.

The paper and paperboard production in 2016 in the world was 110.07 million tones.1 Bangladesh consumes only about 3.5~4 kg paper and board products per capita,while the developed countries consume about 300 kg/***’s consumption is also much lower than the world’s average(@50 kg/capita)and the Asia’s average(@50 kg/capita).2 To reach the world’s or Asia’s level,Bangladesh’s consumption of paper and board products needs to increase 10 *** forest resources are very limited in Bangladesh,alternative fibrous raw materials are required to achieve this *** many studies have been carried out on alternative raw materials available in Bangladesh.

The assessment of the radiological concentration of 134Cs and 137Cs owing to hypothetical accident of TRIGA Mark-II research Reactor at AERE, Savar, Bangladesh is presented here in this work. The concentration of 134Cs and 137Cs was estimated in different pathways consisting of the ingestion of plants, milk, and meat. The highest air concentration has been determined at 65 m distance from the core of the reactor. The maximum concentration passed off without delay simply after the accident in various directions. Local meteorological information such as average wind velocity and wind frequency were analyzed. Considering all directions, the highest concentration has been observed in the “S” direction. The concentrations of 134Cs and 137Cs were determined in ground, vegetation, milk and meat. The concentration of 137Cs is investigated to be higher than the 134Cs. The concentration of 134Cs and 137Cs was found to be lower in vegetation, milk, and meat than that of ground concentration. Overall, in this study, the concentration in meat has been investigated to be lower. In case of a reactor accident, the concentration assessment due to the ingestion of vegetables, milk, and meat will be a valuable guide for insuring radiological protection across the research reactor at AERE, Savar, Bangladesh.

采用磷酸铵镁(MAP)沉淀法在实验室对高浓度氨氮纸机白水进行预处理,并对pH值、药品投配比(n(Mg):n(NH):n(PO))、反应时间、废液初始浓度等影响因素进行了研究。结果表明,去除纸机白水中氨氮的最佳处理条件为:pH值9.5、n(Mg):n(NH):n(PO)=1:1:1、反应时间20min;该条件下,氨氮初始浓度为13500mg/L的纸机白水的氨氮去除率为84.8%;此外,氨氮去除率随纸机白水中氨氮浓度的降低而提高,当初始氨氮浓度为1000 mg/L时,氨氮去除率可达95.6%。

Background: Patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) are at increased risk of morbidity & mortality. Educational interventions aimed at empowering patients are successful in chronic disease management including CKD. Objective: To explore the awareness regarding CKD among patients attending in a tertiary care hospital in Bangladesh. Methodology: This was a descriptive observational study, which includes 100 adult patients attending the department of Medicine in Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), Dhaka, Bangladesh from January 2013 to June 2013. Data were collected on a pre-tested questionnaire by face-to-face interview to investigate awareness toward: 1) basic knowledge of personal health;2) perceptions of factors increasing the risk of CKD;3) knowledge of therapies to slow CKD progression;4) perceptions of CKD increasing the risk of other medical conditions and 5) demographic information. Main outcome variables were demographic parameters, socio-economic status and awareness about chronic kidney disease. Data were analyzed and compared by statistical tests. Results: Almost one third (32.0%) respondents were in 3rd decade and male to female ratio was 1:1.5. Majority (43.0%) patients came from lower-middle income family. In all age groups, the majority (60%) respondents had low knowledge of CKD. Among the study population, 44.0% believe that smoking increases risk of CKD;42.0% believe that restricting salt intake reduces the progression of CKD;34.0% mention that CKD increases the risk for hypertension and 82.0% mention that renal transplantation is the treatment of choice in CKD. Among the participants, 32.8% had knowledge of increasing risk factor of CKD, 30.8% had knowledge of the method of slow progression of CKD, 30.3% had knowledge of conditions for increase risk of CKD and 41.7% respondent had knowledge of treatment of CKD. 对玉米秸秆进行KOH预浸渍,然后进行磨浆以制备玉米秸秆化学机械浆(以下简称秸秆化机浆),探讨了秸秆化机浆制备瓦楞原纸的可行性,提出了预浸渍废液的处理方法。结果表明,预浸渍KOH用量5.6%、液比1:5、保温温度130℃、保温30 min后,控制浆浓为15%～20%,四段磨浆间隙依次为0.5、0.3、0.1和0.1 mm,制得玉米秸秆化机浆可满足瓦楞芯纸抄造质量要求,此时,手抄片的紧度为0.49 g/cm3,环压指数为9.9 N·m/g,裂断长为2.56 km,撕裂指数为3.28 mN·m/g,耐破指数为1.02 kPa·m/g,平压指数为0.62 N·m/g;秸秆化机浆废液可用于制备有机肥和复混肥料。
