S-doped mesoporous graphene modified separator for high performance lithium-sulfur batteries

Due to their low cost,environmental friendliness and high energy density,the lithium-sulfur batteries(LSB)have been regarded as a promising alternative for the next generation of rechargeable battery ***,the practical application of LSB is seriously hampered by its short cycle life and high self-charge owing to the apparent shuttle effect of soluble lithium *** MgSO_(4)@MgO composite as both template and dopant,template-guided S-doped mesoporous graphene(SMG)is prepared via the fluidized-bed chemical vapor deposition *** the polypropylene(PP)modifier,SMG with high specific surface area,abundant mesoporous structures and moderate S doping content offers a wealth of physical and chemical adsorptive sites and reduced interfacial contact resistance,thereby restraining the serious shuttle effects of lithium ***,the LSB configured with mesoporous graphene(MG)as S host material and SMG as a separator modifier exhibits an enhanced electrochemical performance with a high average capacity of 955.64 mA h g^(-1) at 1C and a small capacity decay rate of 0.109%per ***,the density functional theory(DFT)calculation models have been rationally constructed and demonstrated that the doped S atoms in SMG possess higher binding energy to lithium polysulfides than that in MG,indicating that the SMG/PP separator can effectively capture soluble lithium polysulfides via chemical binding *** work would provide valuable insight into developing a versatile carbon-based separator modifier for LSB.

Experimental and numerical investigations on micromixing performance of multi-orifice cross-flow jet mixers

Multi-orifice cross-flow jet mixers(MOCJMs)are used in various industrial applications due to their excellent mixing efficiency,but few studies have focused on the micromixing performance of ***,the flow characteristics and micromixing performance inside the MOCJM were investigated using experiments and computational fluid dynamics(CFD)simulations based on the Villermaux/Dushman system and the finite-rate/modified eddy-dissipation *** optimal A value was correlated with the characteristic parameters of MOCJMs to develop a CFD calculation method applicable to the study of the micromixing performance of the *** the micromixing efficiency was evaluated using the segregation index XS,and the effects of operational and geometric parameters such as mixing flow Reynolds number(ReM),flow ratio(RF),total jet area(ST),the number of jet orifices(n),and outlet configuration on the micromixing efficiency were *** was found that the intensive turbulent region generated by interactions between jets,as well as between jets and crossflows,facilitated rapid *** decreased with increasing ReM and decreasing ***,MOCJMs with lower ST,four jet orifices,and the narrower outlet configuration demonstrated a better micromixing *** study contributes to a deeper understanding of the micromixing performance of MOCJMs and provides valuable guidance for their design,optimization,and industrial application.

Fine classification of rice paddy using multitemporal compact polarimetric SAR C band data based on machine learning methods

Rice is an important food crop for human *** distinguishing different varieties and sowing methods of rice on a large scale can provide more accurate information for rice growth monitoring,yield estimation,and phenological monitoring,which has significance for the development of modern *** polarimetric(CP)synthetic aperture radar(SAR)provides multichannel information and shows great potential for rice monitoring and ***,the use of machine learning methods to build classification models is a controversial *** this paper,the advantages of CP SAR data,the powerful learning ability of machine learning,and the important factors of the rice growth cycle were taken into account to achieve high-precision and fine classification of rice ***,CP SAR data were simulated by using the seven temporal RADARSAT-2 C-band data ***,20-two CP SAR parameters were extracted from each of the seven temporal CP SAR data *** addition,we fully considered the change degree of CP SAR parameters on a time scale(ΔCP_(DoY)).Six machine learning methods were employed to carry out the fine classification of rice *** results show that the classification methods of machine learning based on multitemporal CP SAR data can obtain better results in the fine classification of rice paddies by considering the parameters ofΔCP_(DoY).The overall accuracy is greater than 95.05%,and the Kappa coefficient is greater than *** them,the random forest(RF)and support vector machine(SVM)achieve the best results,with an overall accuracy reaching 97.32%and 97.37%,respectively,and Kappa coefficient values reaching 0.965 and 0.966,*** the two types of rice paddies,the average accuracy of the transplant hybrid(T-H)rice paddy is greater than 90.64%,and the highest accuracy is 95.95%.The average accuracy of direct-sown japonica(D-J)rice paddy is greater than 92.57%,and the highest accuracy is 96.13%.

Structural Regulations of Layered Borates:From Centric Layers to Chiral Porous Layers

Three pentaborates were made by precise structural regulations under hydrothermal conditions,namely,K_(2)Cs-[B_(5)O_(8)(OH)]·0.5CO_(3)(1),KNa_(4)Cs[B_(5)O_(8)(OH)]_(2)·2OH(2),and NaBa[B_(5)O_(8.5)(OH)](3).Compound 1 features the typical 2D layers constructed from the four-connected B_(5)O_(10)(OH)*** adjustment of the reactants and pH values of the systems to remove interlayered CO_(3)^(2−)groups,the centric layers in 1 were transformed to the chiral layers of *** further adjusting cationic templates based on host−guest charge matching,the B_(5)O_(10)(OH)cluster unit was transformed to B_(5)O_(11)(OH),which built the chiral porous layers of *** chiral compounds 2 and 3 exhibit moderate second harmonic generation(SHG)responses of 1.1 and 1.7 times that of KDP(KH_(2)PO_(4)).The structural regulations actualize the evolutions on both structural symmetries and dimensions.

Autonomous navigation of an asteroid orbiter enhanced by a beacon satellite in a high-altitude orbit

This study aims to assess the autonomous navigation performance of an asteroid orbiter enhanced using an inter-satellite link to a beacon *** navigation includes the orbit determination of the orbiter and beacon,and asteroid gravity estimation without any ground station *** measurements were acquired using satellite-to-satellite tracking(SST)and optical observation of asteroid surface *** study presents a new orbiter-beacon SST scheme,in which the orbiter circumnavigates the asteroid in a low-altitude strongly-perturbed orbit,and the beacon remains in a high-altitude weakly-perturbed *** used Asteroid 433 Eros as an example,and analyzed and designed low-and high-altitude orbits for the orbiter and *** navigation measurements were precisely modeled,extended Kalman filters were devised,and observation configuration was analyzed using the Cramer-Rao lower bound(CRLB).Monte Carlo simulations were carried out to assess the effects of the orbital inclination and altitudes of the orbiter and beacon as key influencing *** simulation results showed that the proposed SST scheme was an effective solution for enhancing the autonomous navigation performance of the orbiter,particularly for improving the accuracy of gravity estimation.

Precipitation Evolution from Plain to Mountains during the July 2023 Extreme Heavy Rainfall Event in North China

North China experienced devastating rainfall from 29 July to 1 August 2023,which caused substantial flooding and *** study analyzed observations from surface rain gauges and S-band dual-polarization radars to reveal the following unique features of the precipitation evolution from the plain to the mountains during this event.(1) The total rainfall was found concentrated along the Taihang Mountains at elevations generally > 200 m,and its spatiotemporal evolution was closely associated with northward-moving low-level jets.(2) Storms propagated northwestward with southeasterly steering winds,producing continuous rainfall along the eastern slopes of the Taihang Mountains owing to mountain blocking,which resulted in the formation of local centers of precipitation ***,most rainfall episodes with an extreme hourly rainfall rate(HRR),corresponding to large horizontal wind shear at low levels,actively occurred in the plain area to the east of the Taihang Mountains.(3) The western portion of the extreme heavy rain belt in the north was mainly caused by long-lasting cumulus–stratus mixed precipitation with HRR 20 mm h~(-1).The contributions of convective precipitation and cumulus–stratus mixed precipitation to the total rainfall of the southern and middle rain belts were broadly equivalent.(4) The local HRR maxima located at the transition zone from the plain to the mountains were induced by moderate storm-scale convective cells with active warm-rain processes and large number of small-sized rain droplets.(5) During the devastating rainfall event,it was observed that the rainfall peaked at around 1800 local time(LT) every day over the upstream plain area(no diurnal cycle of rainfall was observed in relation to the accumulated rainfall centers over mountain areas).This was attributable to convective activities along the storm propagation path,which was a resu

Atomistic study of inverse size effect induced by interfacial plasticity in pearlitic multi-principal element alloy

Owing to the fine nano-laminated structure,the pearlitic multi-principal element alloy(PMPEA) exhibits excellent mechanical and tribological ***,the incomplete understanding of the size effect of its lamella thickness and the unclear understanding of the plasticity-interface interaction mechanism limit further optimization of *** this study,the FeCoNi/Ni_3Ti interface-mediated plastic deformation behavior in PMPEA and the variation of mechanical and tribological properties with lamella thickness within the nanoscale range using molecular dynamics(MD) simulation were *** results indicate that the mechanical and tribological properties of the PMPEA with lamella thicknesses below 10 nm have a significant inverse size effect,i.e.,the smaller the lamella thickness,the weaker the *** is because the plastic carrier-interface interaction mechanism changes from a strengthening mechanism that hinders dislocations to a weakening mechanism that promotes dislocations with the decreases in the lamella thickness,and the weakening effect becomes more pronounced as the lamella thickness decreases and the number of interfaces *** particular,the deformation behavior of Ni_3Ti lamellae changes from crystal-like to amorphous-like with decreasing ***,in the sample with larger lamella thickness,the occurrence of hierarchical slips in the body-centered cubic(BCC) phase due to the multiprincipal elements effect can better alleviate the stress concentration caused by the dislocation accumulation at the interface,so that the phase interface exhibits outstanding load-bearing *** the dislocation pattern in BCC phase shows a firm high-density cell,which makes the substrate exhibit a stable tribological response.

Screening of glucosinolates degrading lactic acid bacteria and their utilization in rapeseed meal fermentation

Rapeseed meal is a promising food ingredient, but its utilization is limited by the presence of some potentially harmful ingredients, such as glucosinolates. Fermentation is a cost-effective method of detoxication but a food-grade starter culture with glucosinolates degradation capacity is required. In this study, 46 strains of lactic acid bacteria from traditional paocai brines were screened for their ability to glucosinolate degradation. The results showed that more than 50% of the strains significantly degraded glucosinolates. Two strains of Lactiplantibacillus(p7 and s7) with high capacity of glucosinolates degradation through producing enzymes were identified. Then,an optimized condition for rapeseed meal fermentation by p7 was established to degrade glucosinolates, which can achieve about 80% degradation. UPLC/Q-TOF-MS analysis showed that the degradation rate of individual glucosinolates was different and the degradation rate of gluconapin and progoitrin in rapeseed meal can reach more than 90%. Meanwhile, fermentation with p7 can improve safety of rapeseed meal by inhibiting the growth of Enterobacteriaceae and improve its nutritional properties by degrading phytic acid. The in vitro digestion experiments showed that the content of glucosinolates in rapeseed meal decreased significantly during gastric digestion. Meanwhile, fermentation with p7 can greatly improve the release of soluble protein and increase the contents of free essential amino acids, such as lysine(increased by 12 folds) and methionine(increased by 10 folds).

Developmental toxicity assessment of neonicotinoids and organophosphate esters with a human embryonic stem cell-and metabolism-based fast-screening model

In recent years,neonicotinoids(NEOs)and organophosphate esters(OPEs)have been widely used as substitutes for traditional pesticides and brominated fame-retardants,*** studies have shown that those compounds can be frequently detected in environmental and human samples,are able to penetrate the placental barrier,and are toxic to ***,it is reasonable to speculate that NEOs and OPEs may have potential adverse effects in humans,especially during *** employed a human embryonic stem cell differentiation-and liver S9 fraction metabolism-based fast screening model to assess the potential embryonic toxicity of those two types of *** show that four NEO and five OPE prototypes targeted mostly ectoderm specification,as neural ectoderm and neural crest genes were down-regulated,and surface ectoderm and placode markers *** liver S9 fraction's treatment could generally reduce the effects of the chemicals,except in a few specific instances,indicating the liver may detoxify NEOs and *** findings suggest that NEOs and OPEs interfere with human early embryonic development.
