Biological nitrogen removal process could be affected due to the presence of heavy metals owing to their toxicity and accumulation in the *** this study,the impact of Cu2+shock on a long-term nitritation operation was investigated in an air-lift reactor with *** the dynamics of microbial community and inhibition kinetics under Cu2+stress were *** results showed that Cu2+exerted severe inhibition on nitritation performance of an air-lift reactor(ALR)at 25 mg/*** corresponding NH4+-N removal efficiency decreased to below 50%,which was mainly due to the variation of microbial community structure,especially the inhibition of nitrifiers like Nitrosomonas(the relative abundance decreased from 30%to 1%after Cu2+inhibition).Kinetic parameters were obtained and compared after fitting the Haldane *** long-term Cu2+stress on the ALR aggravated the ammonium affinity and the resistance to substrate self-inhibition of the nitritation sludge,but reduced the resistance to Cu2+***,Cu2+acted as uncompetitive inhibitor on nitritation *** results provide new insights into the nitritation characteristics under long-term Cu2+stress.

Low-cost sensors are widely used to collect high-spatial-resolution particulate matter data that traditional reference monitoring devices *** addition to the mass concentration,the number concentration and size distribution are also fundamental in determining the origin and hazard level of particulate ***,low-cost optical sensors have been improved to establish optical particle sizers(OPSs).In this study,a low-cost OPS,the Nova SDS029,is introduced,and it is evaluated in comparison to two reference instruments—the GRIMM 11-D and the TSI *** first tested the sizing accuracy using polystyrene latex ***,we assessed the mass and number size distribution accuracy in three application scenarios:indoor smoking,ambient air quality,and mobile *** evaluations suggest that the low-cost SDS029 rivals research-grade optical sizers in many *** example,(1)the particle diameters obtained with the SDS029 are close to the reference instruments(usually<10%)in the 0.3-5μm range;(2)the number of particles and mass concentration are highly correlated(r≥0.99)with the values obtained with the reference instruments;and(3)the SDS029 slightly underestimates the number concentration,but the derived PM_(2.5)values are closer to monitoring station than the reference *** successful application of the SDS029 in multiple scenarios suggests that a plausible particle size distribution can be obtained in an easy and cost-efficient *** believe that low-cost OPSs will increasingly be used to map the sources and risk levels of particles at the city scale.

Within this work, iron ore concentrates instead of elemental iron Fe0and iron salts like Fe（NO3）3and FeCl3were selected as iron source to prepare MIL-100（Fe）(labeled as MIL-100（Fe）-ore). The corresponding synthesis cost is reduced to half of the MIL-100（Fe） produced from elemental iron and iron salts. As well, the unreacted iron ore concentrates can be easily separated from the as-prepared MIL-100（Fe）-ore by magnetic to facilitate the purification process, free of the strong acids to wash the residual iron. The as-obtained MIL-100（Fe）-ore with Langmuir surface area up to 2281.6 m2g-1displayed long-term chemical stability. Furthermore, the sorption capacity of MIL-100（Fe）-ore towards malachite green（MG） is up to 522.3 mg g-1at 25℃ and initial pH = 3.2, higher than that of MIL-100（Fe） yielded by conventional hydrothermal process. Finally, the production cost and life cycle assessment of MIL-100（Fe）-ore were compared with other traditional production procedures. The results revealed that our work greatly reduced the synthesis cost and enhanced the environmental sustainability.

Black carbon(BC)is associated with adverse human health and climate *** BC spatial distribution imperatively requires low-cost and portable *** portable BC monitors are commercially available,but their accuracy and reliability are not always satisfactory during continuous field *** study evaluated three models of portable black carbon monitors,C12,MA350 and DST,and investigates the factors that affect their *** monitors were tested in urban Beijing,where portable devices running for one month alongside a regular-size reference aethalometer *** study considers several factors that could influence the monitors'performance,including ambient weather,aerosol composition,loading artifacts,and built-in *** results show that MA350and DST present considerable discrepancies to the reference instrument,mainly occurring at lower concentrations(0-500 ng/m^(3))and higher concentrations(2500-8000 ng/m^(3)),*** discrepancies were likely caused by the anomalous noise of MA350 and the loading artifacts of *** study also suggests that the ambient environment has limited influence on the monitors'performance,but loading artifacts and accompanying compensation algorithms can result in unrealistic *** on the evaluation,the study suggests that C12 is the best choice for unsupervised field measurement,DST should be used in scenarios where frequent maintenance is available,and MA350 is suitable for research purposes with post-processing *** study highlights the importance of assigning portable BC monitors to appropriate applications and the need for optimized real-time compensation algorithms.

Adopting the classical theory of hydrocodes,the constitutive relations of concretes are separated into an equation of state(EoS)which describes the volumetric behavior of concrete material and a strength model which depicts the shear properties of *** experiments on the EoS of concrete is always challenging due to the technical difficulties and equipment limitations,especially for the specimen size effect on the *** some researchers investigate the shock properties of concretes by fly-plate impact tests,the specimens used in their tests are usually in one *** this paper,the fly-plate impact tests on concrete specimens with different sizes are performed to investigate the size effect on the shock properties of concrete *** mechanical background of the size effect on the shock properties are revealed,which is related to the lateral rarefaction effect and the deviatoric stress produced in the *** to the tests results,the modified EoS considering the size effect on the shock properties of concrete are proposed,which the bulk modulus of concrete is unpredicted by up to 20% if size effects are not accounted for.

Ammonium pollution becomes severe during mining of ionic rare earth-ores in southern *** one of the main clayminerals in soils of ionic rare earth mines,halloysite plays an important role in ammonium *** this study,the saturatedadsorption capacity,factors affecting adsorption and adsorption kinetics of halloysite for ammonium were *** resultsindicated that the ammonium adsorption of halloysite was saturated with1.66mg/g at303K,pH of5.6and initial ammoniumconcentration of600mg/L(about half of the actual initial in-situ leaching concentration).When the initial concentration of NH4?-N,pH values and temperatures(288K to313K)increased,the ammonium adsorption capacity of halloysite *** ammoniumisothermal adsorption of halloysite matched the Langmuir and Freundlich *** adsorption process of ionic rare earthmining soils for ammonium was *** the adsorption process followed closely the pseudo-second kinetic equation.
