Colon cancer is the third major cause of cancer deaths,accounting for about 8%in terms of mortality *** present study aims to explore the effect of silencing Astrocyte Elevated Gene-1(AEG-1),a metastasis mediating factor,and how it interacts with Exostosin-1(EXT-1)protein to inhibit the proliferative and invasive potential in colon cancer *** siRNA transfection was performed using AEG-1 siRNA in SW480 and SW620 colon cancer cell lines,and the expression levels of mRNA and protein were analyzed by Real-time PCR and Immunofluorescence.A simple bioinformatics approach was carried out to identify the possible interactions between AEG-1 and EXT-1 using Easy Networks and Pathway Commons *** survival and clonal efficiency were determined using Cell Counting Kit-8 assay and clonogenic assay,apoptosis using flow cytometry analysis,migration and invasion using scratch and Transwell assays,*** siRNA transfection significantly suppressed the expression of AEG-1 in mRNA and protein levels on SW480 and SW620 colon cancer *** our results,we found that EXT-1 mRNA and protein level was significantly upregulated in AEG-1 siRNA transfected ***,treatment with AEG-1 siRNA inhibited the proliferation,clonogenic ability,migration,and invasion and also induced *** the bioinformatic approach,our data analyses pointed towards the crosstalk between AEG-1 and EXT-1 mediated through Patched-1(PTCH-1)*** current results demonstrated that silencing AEG-1 can restrain cell proliferation,migration,and invasion,ultimately leading to *** AEG-1 siRNA transfected cells,PTCH-1 activity might be modulated by several genes and,in turn,affects the EXT-1 ***,these observations not only provide insight into the interplay between AEG-1 and EXT-1 but also suggest that AEG-1 may represent a possible candidate therapeutic target through interaction with EXT-1 in colon cancer.

Objective:To determine the effect of phytochemicals in acute and repeated dose of 28-day oral toxicity of Kuruthi Azhal Chooranam(KAC)in Sprague Dawley rats of both ***:Acute oral toxicity was conducted with 2000 mg/kg body weight of KAC orally and the treated animals were observed for signs of toxicity at 30 min,1,2,4 and 24 h and for up to 14 *** repeated 28-day oral toxicity study,the KAC formulation was administered orally with 600,900 and 1200 mg/kg body weight/day to all the three groups of *** animals were observed for clinical signs of toxicity,mortality and morbidity throughout the *** body weight,feed consumption,haematological,plasma biochemistry and serum electrolytes,gross pathology,weights of the organ and histology were studied for no-observed-adverse-effect *** dose of KAC formulation and control reversal groups were also included for delayed toxic effects ***:In the acute toxicity study of KAC formulation,2000 mg/kg body weight dose exhibited no toxic signs and mortality during *** sub-acute 28-day repeated dose toxicity study,there was no significant difference found between control and KAC treated groups(body weight,haematology,biochemistry and serum electrolytes).No abnormalities was found in gross pathology,organs weight and histological observation after KAC ***:The current study suggests that LD_(50)of KAC was>2000 mg/kg and no-observed-adverse-effect level was>1200 mg/kg/day in *** could be used as Siddha drug for various indications.

A simple method of tuning series cascade controllers for unstable systems

A simple method is proposed to design P/PI controllers for a series cascade control system for unstable first order plus time-delay （FOPTD） systems. In this paper, the controller design for unstable FOPTD systems cascaded in series with stable/unstable FOPTD systems is considered. The proposed method is based on equating the coefficients of corresponding powers of s and s2 in the numerator to α1 and α2 times those of the denominator of the closed-loop transfer function for a servo problem. The open loop system consists of an unstable FOPTD system cascaded in series with a stable/unstable FOPTD system. Only two tuning parameters （α1 and α2） are required for the design of controllers. The closed-loop performances are evaluated for both the servo and regulatory problems and the performances are found to be better than that of the well established synthesis method. The robustness for uncertainty in the model parameters is studied and compared with that of the controllers designed by the synthesis method.

Theoretical and Computational Analyses of LNG Evaporator

Theoretical and numerical analysis on the fluid flow and heat transfer inside a LNG evaporator is conducted in this work. Methane is used instead of LNG as the operating fluid. This is because; methane constitutes over 80% of natural gas. The analytical calculations are performed using simple mass and energy balance equations. The analytical calculations are made to assess the pressure and temperature variations in the steam tube. Multiphase numerical simulations are performed by solving the governing equations(basic flow equations of continuity, momentum and energy equations) in a portion of the evaporator domain consisting of a single steam pipe. The flow equations are solved along with equations of species transport. Multiphase modeling is incorporated using VOF method. Liquid methane is the primary phase. It vaporizes into the secondary phase gaseous methane. Steam is another secondary phase which flows through the heating coils. Turbulence is modeled by a two equation turbulence model. Both the theoretical and numerical predictions are seen to match well with each other. Further parametric studies are planned based on the current research.

Antihaemolytic and snake venom neutralizing effect of some Indian medicinal plants

Objective:To validate traditional claims of usefulness of the Indian plants in management of poisonous snakebite and evaluate the antivenom properties displayed bv the alcoholic extracts of Andrographis paniculata（***）,Crutera magna（***）.Gloriosa superba （***） and Hydrocotyle javanica（***）.Methods:These plants were collected, identified and the extracts were prepared bv using conventional Soxhlet ethanol extraction *** venom neutralization activity was accessed in mice（20-25g） and number of mortalities was observed against clinically important snake（Naja nigricollis） *** study also deals with in vitro membrane stabilizing activity of these plants against hyposaline induced human red blood corpuscles（HRBC）.Results:Extracts of *** and *** gave 80%and 90%protection to mice treated with minimum lethal dose of venom(LD99).These two plants showed significant neutralization effect against the venoms of Naja nigricollis venom.H. javanica and ***（25-100 mg/ml.） produced significant changes of membrane stabilization of human red blood cells（HRBC） exposed to hyposaline-induced ***:We conclude that probably due to presence of various phytochemicals plays an important role in the anti-venom potential of these Indian medicinal plants against Naja nigricollis *** above observations confirmed ***,G,*** and *** plant extracts possess potent snake venom neutralizing capacity and could potentially be used as an adjuvants for antivenin therapy in case of snakebite *** against the local effects of cobra venoms.

Complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) is a debilitating condition affecting the limbs that can be induced by surgery or trauma. This condition can complicate recovery and impair one’s functional and psychological well-being. The wide variety of terminology loosely used to describe CRPS in the past has led to misdiagnosis of this condition, resulting in poor evidence-base regarding the treatment modalities available and their impact. The aim of this review is to report on the recent progress in the understanding of the epidemiology, pathophysiology and treatment of CRPS and to discuss novel approaches in treating this condition.

Effect of heat treatment conditions on the passivation behavior of WE43CMg-Y-Nd alloy in chloride containing alkaline environments

Mg–Y–Nd alloy(WE43C or Elektron 43)is a heat treatable magnesium wrought alloy that can be used up to 250 ℃ for aerospace *** alloy has excellent mechanical properties(UTS:up to 345 MPa at room temperature)and improved corrosion *** passivation studies were conducted on this alloy under different heat treatment conditions in 0.1 M NaOH solution with the addition of chloride from 0 to 1000 *** passive potential range typically extended to more than 1.5 VAg/*** transpassive potential was not dependent on the heat treatment condition of the alloy when the chloride concentration increased up to 500 ***,pitting protection potential varied with the heat treatment condition when the chloride addition was 500 ppm or *** specimen surface was analyzed using scanning electron microscopy(SEM),X-ray diffraction(XRD),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),and Raman spectroscopy to understand the passivation behavior of this *** passivated surface of the WE43C specimens indicated that the surface layer consisted of MgO,Mg(OH)_(2),and rare earth oxide phases,and the heat treatment conditions did not significantly affect the composition of the surface film.

Novel degradation products of argatroban: Isolation, synthesis and extensive characterization using NMR and LC-PDA-MS/Q-TOF

Forced degradation study of argatroban under conditions of hydrolysis(neutral, acidic and alkaline), oxidation,photolysis and thermal stress, as suggested in the ICH Q1 A(R2), was accomplished. The drug showed significant degradation under hydrolysis(acidic, alkaline) and oxidation(peroxide stress) conditions. The drug remained stable under thermal and photolytic stress conditions. In total, seven novel degradation products(DP-1 to DP-7) were found under diverse conditions, which were not reported earlier. The chemical structures of these degradation products were characterized by ~1H NMR,^(13)C NMR, 2 D NMR, Q-TOF-MSnand IR spectral analysis and the proposed degradation products structures were further confirmed by the individual synthesis.
