Efficient organic-inorganic hybrid cathode interfacial layer enabled by polymeric dopant and its application in large-area polymer solar cells

An organic-inorganic hybrid cathode interfacial layer(CIL) was developed by doping ZnO with the naphthalene-diimide based derivative NDI-PFNBr. It was found the resulting organic-inorganic hybrid CIL showed apparently improved conductivity and could act as an effective cathode interlayer to modify indium tin oxide(ITO) transparent electrodes. As a result, by employing the blend of PTB7-Th:PC71BM as the photoactive layer, the inverted polymer solar cells(PSCs) exhibited a remarkable enhancement of power conversion efficiency(PCE) from 8.52% for the control device to 10.04% for the device fabricated with the hybrid CIL. Moreover, all device parameters were simultaneously improved by using this hybrid CIL. The improved open-circuit voltage(VOC) was attributed to the reduced work function of the ITO cathode, whereas the enhancements in fill factor(FF) and short-circuit current density(JSC) were assigned to the increased conductivity and more effective charge extraction and collection at interface. Encouragingly, when the thickness of the hybrid CIL was increased to 80 nm, the resulting device could still keep a PCE of 8.81%, exhibiting less thickness dependence. Considering these advantages, 16 and 93 cm2large-area PSCs modules were successfully fabricated from the hybrid CIL by using doctor-blade coating techniques and yielded a remarkable PCE of8.05% and 4.49%, respectively. These results indicated that the hybrid CIL could be a promising candidate to serve as the cathode interlayer for high-performance large-area inverted PSCs.

Due to the ultra-thin nature and moderate carrier mobility,semiconducting two-dimensional(2D)materials have attracted extensive attention for next-generation ***,the gate bias stress instability and hysteresis are always observed in these 2D materials-based transistors that significantly degrade their reliability for practical ***,the origin of gate bias stress instability and hysteresis for chemical vapor deposited monolayer WS2 transistors are investigated *** transistor performance is found to be strongly affected by the gate bias stress time,sweeping rate and range,and *** on the systematical study and complementary analysis,charge trapping is determined to be the major contribution for these observed ***,due to these charge trapping effects,the channel current is observed to decrease with time;hence,a rate equation,considering the charge trapping and time decay effect of current,is proposed and developed to model the phenomena with excellent consistency with experimental *** these results do not only indicate the validity of the charge trapping model,but also confirm the hysteresis being indeed caused by charge ***,this simple model provides a sufficient explanation for the charge trapping induced gate bias stress instability and hysteresis in monolayer WS2 transistors,which can be also applicable to other kinds of transistors.

Recently, owing to the excellent electrical and optical properties, n-type In2O3 nanowires (NWs) have attracted tremendous attention for application in memory devices, solar cells, and ultra-violet photodetectors. However, the relatively low electron mobility of In2O3 NWs grown by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) has limited their further utilization. In this study, utilizing in-situ Ga alloying, highly crystalline, uniform, and thin In2xGa2−2xO3 NWs with diameters down to 30 nm were successfully prepared via ambient-pressure CVD. Introducing an optimal amount of Ga (10 at.%) into the In2O3 lattice was found to effectively enhance the crystal quality and reduce the number of oxygen vacancies in the NWs. A further increase in the Ga concentration adversely induced the formation of a resistive β-Ga2O3 phase, thereby deteriorating the electrical properties of the NWs. Importantly, when configured into global back-gated NW field-effect transistors, the optimized In1.8Ga0.2O3 NWs exhibit significantly enhanced electron mobility reaching up to 750 cm2·V–1·s–1 as compared with that of the pure In2O3 NW, which can be attributed to the reduction in the number of oxygen vacancies and ionized impurity scattering centers. Highly ordered NW parallel arrayed devices were also fabricated to demonstrate the versatility and potency of these NWs for next-generation, large-scale, and high-performance nanoelectronics, sensors, etc.

Randomized controlled trial of antibiotic prophylaxis regimens for transrectal ultrasound-guided prostate biopsy

Background A prior study showed aimed to evaluate and compare the transrectal ultrasound-guided prostate Methods A prospective randomized significant antibiotic resistance to quinolone in our population. In this study we efficacy of a single versus a combined prophylactic antibiotic regimen before biopsy （TRUGPB）. study was conducted at a university hospital. Patients undergoing TRUGPB were randomized into an amoxicillin-clavulanate alone （1 mg; one dose before and two doses after biopsy） or an amoxicillin-clavulanate ＋ ciprofloxacin group （250 mg; one dose before and two doses after biopsy）. Patients were surveyed for infection symptoms by phone on days 3 and 30 after TRUGPB. We defined an infective complication as the occurrence of symptoms including fever, chills or rigor within 30 days after prostate biopsy, requiring medical treatment or hospitalization, aided by a territory-wide electronic medical record system. Results Between November 2007 and July 2009, 367 patients were randomized to either amoxicillin-clavulanate alone or amoxicillin-clavulanate ＋ ciprofloxacin group. The infection rates after TRUGPB were 3.91% in the former group （7 out of 179 patients） versus 0.53% （1 out of 188 patients） in the latter. Sixty-three percent （5/8） of patients with infective complications needed hospitalization. There was no intensive care unit admission or mortality during the study period. Conclusions Combining prophylactic antibiotics with amoxicillin-clavulanate ＋ ciprofloxacin significantly reduced the incidence of infective complications after TRUGPB. We recommended a combination regimen, especially in centre with high incidence of post-TRUGPB infection.

Semitransparent organic solar cells(ST-OSCs)have the potentials to open promising applications that differ from those of conventional inorganic ones,such as see-through power windows with both energy generation and heat insulation ***,to achieve so,there remain significant challenges,especially for balancing critical parameters,such as power conversion efficiency(PCE),average visible transparency(AVT)and low energy infrared photon radiation rejection(IRR)to realize the full potentials of ***,we demonstrate the new design of ST-OSCs through the rational integration of organic materials,transparent electrode and infrared photon reflector in one *** the assistance of optical simulation,new ST-OSCs with precise layout exhibit state-of-art performance,with near 30%AVT and PCE of 7.3%,as well as an excellent IRR of over 93%(780-2500 nm),representing one of best multifunctional ST-OSCs with promising perspective for window application.
