Erosion and covered zones altered by surface coverage effects on soil nitrogen and carbon loss from an agricultural slope under laboratorysimulated rainfall events

Soil erosion,one of the most serious environmental concerns,might remove topsoil and essential element from terrestrial ***,few attentions have been given to investigating how soil erosion regimes affect soil carbon and nitrogen ***,this study investigated the effects of surface coverage rates(83%,67%,50%,33%,17%and 0%)and two positions(up-and downslope)on erosion regimes and its associated soil nitrogen and carbon loss under a sequence of six rainfalls(R1-R6).These results showed that the sediment concentrations with 33%(R4)and 17%(R5)coverage downslope were significantly lower than those with coverage upslope,whereas there was no significant difference between the runoff rates of the two ***,surface coverage at different positions induced two soil erosion regimes(deposition-and transport-dominated processes).Dynamics of the DON and DIN concentrations indicated different release processes of soil nitrogen into *** DON contributed to a substantial amount of soil nitrogen loss,which accounted approximately 81%of the organic *** SBOC is significantly correlated with sediment-enriched clay particles from the deposition-dominated processes and is higher than that from the transport-dominated *** DOC is significantly correlated with Rr for transport-dominated *** results illustrated the critical role of erosion regimes in soil organic carbon loss in dissolved or sediment-bound *** is concluded that erosion/covered zones altered by surface coverage could produce transport-and deposition-dominated erosion regimes and consequently affect soil carbon and nitrogen *** addition,these results demonstrated that surface coverage pattern may efficiently control soil erosion and soil carbon and nitrogen loss.

Effect of electrode change on solidification of slag and metal pool profile in electroslag remelting process

A two-dimensional axisymmetric model is established to study the effect of electrode change on the solidification of slag and metal pool profile during electroslag remelting *** basic considerations of flow and heat transfer are included in the model,and the growth of ingot is described by the dynamic mesh *** electrode melting rate is predicted based on the transient thermal conductivity model between slag and *** results indicate that in the electrode change stage,the slag temperature drops from 1847 to 1763 K gradually and the“hot heart”phenomenon is *** the metal pool profile is slightly changed with a depth decrease from 0.3984 to 0.3688 *** the heating and melting stage of new electrode,the maximum slag temperature firstly increases from 1763 to 1892 K,then decreases to 1845 K,and finally at 3558 s,the maximum slag temperature is stable at 1884 *** slag shell with a maximum volume of 7.31×10^(-3) m^(3) is formed at the electrode tip,and then,the solidified slag melts *** depth of metal pool firstly rises to 0.3700 m and then drops to 0.3565 *** the preheating temperature of the new electrode increases from 473 to 973 K,the maximum volume of solidified slag decreases from 0.00748 to 0.00592 m^(3),and the time from heating to melting of the new electrode decreases from 996 to 887 s.

Primary leiomyosarcoma of the nipple-areola complex:Report of a case and review of literature

Primary leiomyosarcoma of the nipple-areola complex is extremely rare. Less than ten such cases have been reported in English literature so far. Herein we describe a 52-year-old female presenting with a 1.5 cm×1.1 cm×0.7 cm nodular lesion over her left nipple, and leiomyosarcoma was proved by pathological examination of the excised specimen. Positron emitted tomogram (PET) revealed no abnormal signal other than the primary site. Microscopically, this poorly circumscribed tumor was composed of interlacing bundles of smooth muscle cells with bizarre and pleomorphic nuclei, as well as prominent nucleoli. Its mitotic count was up to 7 mitoses per 10 high power fields (HPF). Immunohistochemical study of tumor cells revealed positive stain for α-smooth muscle actin and vimentin; and negative for cytokeratin, CD34 and S-100. Left simple mastectomy was undertaken and no residual mass lesion was noted on the resected specimen. Related literatures about the diagnosis and treatment for breast leiomyosarcoma will be presented here.

The welding temperature field of magnesium alloy AZ31 welded by TIG was measured with the uncooled infrared (IR) thermal imaging technology. The variables in the mathematic mode of welding temperature fields were revised by IR temperature data. Based on the results of simulation, the loss of temperature fields caused by arc interfered was compensated, and a whole temperature field was achieved, which provided a precise and powerful foundation for the investigation of microstructure of the joints.

Efficient 2D Analysis of Interfacial Thermoelastic Stresses in Multiply Bonded Anisotropic Composites with Thin Adhesives

In engineering practice,analysis of interfacial thermal stresses in composites is a crucial task for assuring structural integrity when sever environmental temperature changes under *** this article,the directly transformed boundary integrals presented previously for treating generally anisotropic thermoelasticity in two-dimension are fully regularized by a semi-analytical approach for modeling thin multi-layers of anisotropic/isotropic composites,subjected to general thermal loads with boundary conditions *** this process,an additional difficulty,not reported in the literature,arises due to rapid fluctuation of an integrand in the directly transformed boundary integral *** conventional analysis,thin adhesives are usually neglected due to modeling difficulties.A major concern arises regarding the modeling error caused by such negligence of the thin *** investigating the effect of the thin adhesives considered,the regularized integral equation is applied for analyzing interfacial stresses in multiply bonded composites when thin adhesives are *** all integrals are completely regularized,very accurate integration values can be still obtained no matter how the source point is close to the integration *** are made for some examples when the thin adhesives are considered or ***,this regularization task has laid sound fundamentals for the boundary element method to efficiently analyze the interfacial thermal stresses in 2D thin multiply bonded anisotropic composites.

A Wrapping Encryption Based on Double Randomness Mechanism

The South china Sea is not a mini-Atlantic: plate-edge rifting vs intra-plate rifting

The South china Sea, as ‘a non-volcanic passive margin basin’ in the Pacific, has often been considered as a small-scale analogue of the *** recent ocean drilling in the northern South china Sea margin found, however, that the Iberian model of non-volcanic rifted margin from the Atlantic does not apply to the South china *** this paper, we review a variety of rifted basins and propose to discriminate two types of rifting basins: plate-edge type such as the South china Sea and intra-plate type like the *** not only differ from each other in structure, formation process, lifespan and geographic size, but also occur at different stages of the Wilson *** intra-plate rifting occurred in the Mesozoic and gave rise to large oceans, whereas the plate-edge rifting took place mainly in the mid-Cenozoic, with three-quarters of the basins concentrated in the Western *** a member of the Western Pacific system of marginal seas, the South china Sea should be studied not in isolation on its origin and evolution, but in a systematic context to include also its neighboring counterparts.

Perturbation Solutions for Thermal Process of Honeycomb Regenerator

A parameter perturbation for the unsteady-state heat-transfer characteristics of honeycomb regenerator is presented. It is limited to the cases where the storage matrix has a small wall thickness so that no temperature variation in the matrix perpendicular to the flow direction is considered. Starting from a two-phase transient thermal model for the gas and storage matrix, an approximate solution for regenerator heat transfer process is derived using the multiple-scale method for the limiting case where the longitudinal heat conduction of solid matrix is far less than the convective heat transfer between the gas and the solid. The regenerator temperature profiles are expressed as Taylor series of the coefficient of solid heat conduction item in the model. The analytical validity is shown by comparing the perturbation solution with the experiment and the numerical solution. The results show that it is possible for the perturbation to improve the effectiveness and economics of thermal research on regenerators.

Biomarker assessments of sources and environmental implications of organic matter in sediments from potential cold seep areas of the northeastern South china Sea

Multi-biomarker indexes were analyzed for two piston cores from potential cold seep areas of the South china Sea off southwestern Taiwan. Total organic carbon（TOC） normalized terrestrial（n-alkanes） and marine（brassicasterol, dinosterol, alkenones and iso-GDGTs） biomarker contents and ratios（TMBR, 1/Pmar-aq, BIT） were used to evaluate the contributions of terrestrial and marine organic matter（TOM and MOM respectively） to the sedimentary organic matter, indicating that MOM dominated the organic sources in Core MD052911 and the sedimentary organic matter in Core ORI-_（86）0-22 was mainly derived from terrestrial inputs, and different morphologies were the likely reason for TOM percentage differences. BIT results suggested that river-transported terrestrial soil organic matter was not a major source of TOM of sedimentary organic matter around these *** biomarkers for methane-oxidizing archaea（MOA） were only detected in one sample at 172 cm depth of Core ORI-_（86）0-22, with abnormally high iso-GDGTs content and Methane Index（MI） value（0.94）. These results indicated high anaerobic oxidation of methane（AOM） activities at or around 172 cm in Core ORI-_（86）*** in Core MD052911, MOA biomarkers were not detected and MI values were lower（0.19–0.38）, indicated insignificant contributions of iso-GDGTs from methanotrophic archaea and the absence of significant AOM activities. Biomarker results thus indicated that the discontinuous upward methane seepage and insufficient methane flux could not induce high AOM activities in our sampling sites. In addition, the different patterns of TEX_（86） and U_（37）^（K′） temperature in two cores suggested that AOM activities affected TEX_（86）37 temperature estimates with lower values in Core ORI-_（86）0-22, but not significantly on TEX_（86） temperature estimates in Core MD052911.
