Background Thumb web contracture is a common complication after hand injury, and can markedly affect whole hand function. Therefore, surgery involving thumb web reconstruction is often necessary to restore normal function of the involved hand. In this study, we present the application of the lateral tarsal artery （LTA） flap in first web reconstruction. Methods From November 1, 2005 to October 31, 2007, seven patients with severe post trauma or burn contractures around the first web space were treated with a LTA flap. All the patients were followed up. Results All flaps survived, with an average size of 6.7 cm×4.8 cm. There were no complications or recurrent contractures during follow-up. All patients were satisfied with the esthetic appearance and functional outcome of the reconstruction. Conclusion The L＇I-A flap could be an excellent option for covering various defects in the thumb web space, serving as an excellent alternative for the thumb web space reconstruction.

The critical requirements for the environmental barrier coating(EBC)materials of silicon-based ceramic matrix composites(CMCs)include good tolerance to harsh environments,thermal expansion matches with the interlayer mullite,good high-temperature phase stability,and low thermal ***-structured rare-earth aluminates RE_(4)Al_(2)O_(9) have been considered as candidates of EBCs for their superior mechanical and thermal properties,but the phase transition at high temperatures is a notable drawback of these *** suppress the phase transition and improve the phase stability,a novel cuspidine-structured rare-earth aluminate solid solution(Nd_(0.2)Sm_(0.2)Eu_(0.2)Y_(0.2)Yb_(0.2))_(4)Al_(2)O_(9) was designed and successfully synthesized inspired by entropy stabilization effect of high-entropy ceramics(HECs).The as-synthesized HE(Nd_(0.2)Sm_(0.2)Eu_(0.2)Y_(0.2)Yb_(0.2))_(4)Al_(2)O_(9) exhibits a close thermal expansion coefficient(6.96×10^(-6) K^(-1) at 300-1473 K)to that of mullite,good phase stability from 300 to 1473 K,and low thermal conductivity(1.50 W·m^(-1)·K^(-1) at room temperature).In addition,strong anisotropic thermal expansion has been observed compared to Y_(4)Al_(2)O_(9) and Yb_(4)Al_(2)O_(9).The mechanism for low thermal conductivity is attributed to the lattice distortion and mass difference of the constituent atoms,and the anisotropic thermal expansion is due to the anisotropic chemical bonding enhanced by the large size rare-earth cations.

Comparison of reduction disintegration characteristics of TiO_2-rich burdens prepared with sintering process and composite agglomeration process

To reveal the impact of the composite agglomeration process（CAP） on the reduction disintegration properties of TiO_2-rich ironmaking burden for a blast furnace, the reduction disintegration indices（RDIs）, mineral constituents, and microstructure of the products prepared by the CAP and the traditional sintering process（TSP） were investigated. The results showed that, compared to the sinter with a basicity of 2.0 prepared by the TSP, the RDI_（＋6.3） and the RDI_（＋3.15） of the CAP product with the same basicity increased by 28.2wt% and 13.7wt%, respectively, whereas the RDI_（-0.5） decreased by 2.7wt%. The analysis of the mineral constituents and microstructure of the products indicated that the decreasing titanohematite content decreased the volume expansion during reduction. Meanwhile, the decreasing perovskite content decreased its detrimental effect on the reduction disintegration properties. In addition, the higher silicoferrite of calcium and aluminum（SFCA） content improved the strength of the CAP product. Together, these factors result in an improvement of the RDI of the CAP products. In addition, compared to the sinter, the reduced CAP products clearly contained fewer cracks, which also led to mitigation of reduction disintegration.

Low-melting-point alloy has the characteristics of high thermal conductivity,low solidus temperature and the wide range of use temperature,which is a potential heat transfer *** microstructure and thermal properties of Sn-Bi-Pb-Zn alloys as heat transfer and storage material were investigated in this *** phase compositions,microstructure and thermal properties were investigated by X-ray diffusion (XRD),electron probe microanalysis (EPMA) and differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) analysis,*** results show that the phases of Sn-Bi-Zn and Sn-Pb-Zn alloys are mainly eutectic formed by solid solution,while the formation of Pb7Bi3 intermetallic compounds decreases the melting point of Sn-Bi-Pb and *** thermal properties of the zinc-containing alloys are better than that of Sn-Bi-Pb,but the weight of the zinc-containing alloys significantly reduces above 900 ℃.As the density,specific heat capacity and thermal diffusivity change with temperature and physical state,the thermal conductivity of the alloys first decreases and then *** results demonstrate the feasibility of using low-melting alloys as the heat transfer and storage material.

目的研究超声滚压加工对贝氏体轴承钢的影响,并分析超声滚压工艺参数对贝氏体轴承钢试样表层组织及性能的影响规律,为提升贝氏体轴承表面性能提供理论及试验依据。方法通过超声滚压加工前后试样对比分析,确定超声滚压处理技术对贝氏体轴承钢组织性能的提升;通过单因素试验法,研究超声滚压工艺试样组织、性能的影响规律;通过表面与截面组织相结合的方法,分析贝氏体轴承钢组织的类别特征。结果根据试样表面状态可将原始试样分为3类:细晶层存在表面微裂纹的截面组织、细晶层无裂纹的截面组织及无细晶层截面组织。超声滚压后,3类截面组织均产生塑性变形层,无细晶层截面组织形成的塑性变形层最厚。超声滚压处理后,存在于原始试样表面的机加工纹理变细,犁沟变浅;试样表面粗糙度降幅可达75%,试样表面硬度增幅为4%,且试样表面产生了约90μm硬化层。结论相同静压力下,随电流增加,试样表面粗糙度显著降低,塑性变形层显著增加,硬度、硬化层深度增加但增幅较小;相同电流下,随静压力增加,试样表面硬度、塑性变形层深度、硬化层深度及表面硬度增加,粗糙度变化不大。

Effect of slag on oxide inclusions in carburized bearing steel during industrial electroslag remelting

Industrial experiments with three types of slags were performed to investigate the effect of slag on oxide inclusions during electroslag remelting(ESR) process. G20CrNi2Mo bearing steel was used as the consumable electrode and remelted using a 2400-kg industrial furnace. The results showed that most inclusions in the electrode were low-melting-point CaO-MgO-Al_2O_3. After ESR, all the inclusions in ingots were located outside the liquid region. When the slag consisted of 65.70 wt% CaF_2, 28.58 wt% Al_2O_3, and 4.42 wt% CaO was used, pure Al_2O_3 were the dominant inclusions in ingot, some of which presented a clear trend of agglomeration. When the ingot was remelted by a multi-component slag with 16.83 wt% CaO, a certain amount of sphere CaAl_4O_7 inclusions larger than 5 μm were generated in ingot. The slag with 8.18 wt% CaO exhibited greater capacity to control the inclusion characteristics. Thermodynamic calculations indicated that the total Ca and Mg in ingots were attributed from the relics in electrode and strongly influenced by the slag composition. The formation of ingot inclusions was calculated by FactSage^(TM) 7.0, and the results were basically in accordance with the observed inclusions, indicating that a quasi-thermodynamic equilibrium could be obtained in the metal pool.

A new piezoelectric pump can pump liquid either forward or backward and adjust the flow rate. Thus an object can be driven forward or backward at different speeds. The driver of the pump, a circular piezoelectric plate, is modelled by Finite Element Method （FEM） in ANSYS and its performance is simulated and analyzed. The pump gives the best performance when the driving signals of the inlet and outlet valves have a bigger duty cycle and the plate has a higher voltage applied.
