In vitro corrosion resistance,antibacterial activity and cytocompatibility of a layer-by-layer assembled DNA coating on magnesium alloy

A chitosan/deoxyribonucleic acid(CHI/DNA)_(5)coating was constructed by layer-by-layer(LbL)assembly dip coating method with Mg(OH)_(2)coating as an inner protective layer on AZ31 alloy.X-ray diffractometry,X-ray photoelectron spectrometry,Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and field-emission scanning electron microscopy were utilized to represent the chemical compositions and surface morphologies of the *** tests and hydrogen evolution measurements were implemented to confirm the good corrosion resistance of the composite coating in artificial body *** activity of the composite coatings was tested via the plate-counting method,and the cytotoxicity of the samples was appraised by MTT assay and Live/dead staining.A double action was put into effect for the composite coating,which the inner Mg(OH)2 coating plays the part of physical barrier,and the outer(CHI/DNA)5 coating is employed as an inducer to fabricate a biocompatible Ca-P corrosion product coating during immersion,making up for its thin ***,the composite coating is also beneficial for the growth of bone,resulting from the biomineralization effect of the outer polyelectrolyte *** good antibacterial property of the(CHI/DNA)5/Mg(OH)2 coating is ascribed to the contact-killing strength of ***,the obtained(CHI/DNA)5/Mg(OH)2 coating has a wide application prospect in the field of Mg-based bone implantation.

Lithium metal anode(LMA) is a promising candidate for achieving next-generation high-energy-density batteries due to its ultrahigh theoretical capacity and most negative electrochemical potential. However, the practical application of lithium metal battery(LMB) is largely retarded by the instable interfaces, uncontrolled dendrites, and rapid capacity deterioration. Herein, we present a comprehensive overview towards the working principles and inherent challenges of LMAs. Firstly, we diligently summarize the intrinsic mechanism of Li stripping and plating process. The recent advances in atomic and mesoscale simulations which are crucial in guiding mechanism study and material design are also summarized. Furthermore, the advanced engineering strategies which have been proved effective in protecting LMAs are systematically reviewed, including electrolyte optimization, artificial interface, composite/alloy anodes and so on. Finally, we highlight the current limitations and promising research directions of LMAs. This review sheds new lights on deeply understanding the intrinsic mechanism of LMAs, and calls for more endeavors to realize practical Li metal batteries.

A PCA-Based Internet Delay Space Dividing Algorithm

It's a hot issue to improve the accuracy of network coordinate systems(NCS). By analyzing the error source of NCSes, it's emphasized that guaranteeing the low dimensionality of embedding datasets is the principle on the designing of NCSes. Based on this observation, a PCA based Internet delay space dividing algorithm(IDSD-PCA) is proposed. Beginning at choosing an optimized sub dataset randomly, IDSD-PCA partitions the Internet delay dataset into several sub datasets with low dimensionality by iterations. After the partition, the whole delay dataset and sub datasets are embedded into a hierarchical NCS. The experimental results show that with this framework both the metric space based models and the non-metric space based models can predict the end-to-end delays more accurately.

Optical non-linear phenomena are typically observed in natural materials interacting with light at high intensities, and they benefit a diverse range of applications from communication to sensing. However,controlling harmonic conversion with high efficiency and flexibility remains a major issue in modern optical and radio-frequency systems. Here, we introduce a dynamic time-domain digital-coding metasurface that enables efficient manipulation of spectral harmonic distribution. By dynamically modulating the local phase of the surface reflectivity, we achieve accurate control of different harmonics in a highly programmable and dynamic fashion, enabling unusual responses, such as velocity illusion. As a relevant application, we propose and realize a novel architecture for wireless communication systems based on the time-domain digital-coding metasurface, which largely simplifies the architecture of modern communication systems, at the same time yielding excellent performance for real-time signal transmission. The presented work, from new concept to new system, opens new pathways in the application of metamaterials to practical technology.

Effects of buried oxide layer on working speed of SiGe heterojunction photo-transistor

The effects of buried oxide（BOX） layer on the capacitance of SiGe heterojunction photo-transistor（HPT）,including the collector-substrate capacitance,the base-collector capacitance,and the base-emitter capacitance,are studied by using a silicon-on-insulator（SOI） substrate as compared with the devices on native Si *** introducing the BOX layer into Si-based SiGe HPT,the maximum photo-characteristic frequency ft,0 *** SO1-based SiGe HPT reaches up to 24.51 GHz,which is 1.5 times higher than the value obtained from Si-based SiGe *** addition,the maximum optical cut-off frequency fβ,opt,namely its 3-dB bandwidth,reaches up to 1.13 GHz,improved by 1.18 ***,with the increase of optical power or collector current,this improvement on the frequency characteristic from BOX layer becomes less dominant as confirmed by reducing the 3-dB bandwidth of SOI-based SiGe HPT which approaches to the 3-dB bandwidth of Si-based SiGe HPT at higher injection conditions.

Exploring Feasibility for Application of Luminescent CdTe Quantum Dots Prepared in Aqueous Phase to Live Cell Imaging

This paper explored the feasibility for the application of luminescent CdTe quantum dots prepared in aqueous phase to live cell imaging. The highly luminescent CdTe quantum dots （QDs） were first prepared in aqueous phase, and then were covalentiy coupled to a plant lectin （UEA-1）, as a fluorescent probe. After incubating with of human umbilical vein endothelial cells （HUVECs）, the QD probe with UEA-1 was able to specifically bind the corresponding cell receptor. The good cell images were obtained in live cells using laser confocal scanning microscopy. We predict that QDs prepared in water phase will probably become an attractive alternative probe in cellular imaging and bio-labeling.
