Objective Here, we explored molecular changes that could potentially mediate healing effects of Gua Sha — a method employed by the Chinese traditional medicine with proven track records of safe and efficient applications dating back to ancient times as well as support from randomized controlled trials performed by modern medical studies — yet remaining almost entirely unexplored by the modern-day high-throughput methods of the-omics *** We investigated transcriptome changes occurring shortly after Gua Sha treatment in the whole blood of healthy volunteers using bulk RNA-seq analysis. We applied various analytical tools to identify genes with consistent expression changes in multiple individuals in response to Gua Sha and their *** We found that while the changes were very subtle and individual-specific, we could identify consistent upregulation of three histone genes. Low-temperature assembly of MXene nanosheets into three-dimensional(3D) robust aerogels addresses the crucial stability concern of the nano-building blocks during the fabrication process,which is of key importance for transforming the fascinating properties at the nanoscale into the macroscopic scale for practical ***,suitable cross-linking agents(amino-propyltriethoxysilane,Mn^(2+),Fe^(2+),Zn^(2+),and Co^(2+)) as interfacial mediators to engineer the interlayer interactions are reported to realize the graphene oxide(GO)-assisted assembly of Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) MXene aerogel at room *** elaborate aerogel construction not only suppresses the oxidation degradation of Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) but also generates porous aerogels with a high Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) content(87 wt%) and robustness,thereby guaranteeing the functional accessibility of Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) nanosheets and operational reliability as integrated functional *** combination with a further sulfur modification,the Ti_(3)C_(2)T_(x) aerogel electrode shows promising electrochemical performances as the freestanding anode for sodium-ion *** at an ultrahigh loading mass of 12.3 mg cm^(-2),a pronounced areal capacity of 1.26 mAh cm^(-2) at a current density of 0.1 A g^(-1) has been achieved,which is of practical *** work conceptually suggests a new way to exert the utmost surface functionalities of MXenes in 3D monolithic form and can be an inspiring scaffold to promote the application of MXenes in different areas.

As a kind of rare-earth oxide,CeO_(2)has been considered as a great potential material for its abundant oxygen vacancies and catalysis activity in wastewater *** this study,three ceria samples with different morphological structure were prepared,and their effect on contaminates degradation in electro-Fenton(E-Fenton)system was *** is found that the morphology of CeO_(2)has great influence on promoting the performance of E-Fenton *** rod-like CeO_(2)(R-CeO_(2))induced EFenton system shows higher azo dye X3 B removal and mineralization rates than cubs(C-CeO_(2))and octahedrons(O-CeO_(2)),and the degradation kinetic rate constants are 0.28,0.169 and 0.181 min^(-1)respectively,already surpass that of the blank one(0.120 min^(-1)).The H_(2)O_(2)generation capacity of R-CeO_(2)induced E-Fenton system is also superior to the others,and the corresponding Faraday current efficiency even increases to 166.2%at 2.5 *** by scanning-transmission electron microscopy(STEM),X-ray diffraction(XRD),X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS),electron spin resonance(ESR),Raman spectroscopy were conducted to disclose the mystery behind this *** results indicate that the difference of surface oxygen vacancy density in different shaped CeO_(2)acts as a magic driving force for the accelerated oxygen reduction,and then leads to the enhanced degradation efficiency of E-Fenton *** work provides a new insight into the development and application of rare-earth elements based catalyst in E-Fenton technology.

Xenogenic organ transplantation has been considered the most promising strategy in providing possible substitutes with the physiological function of the failing organs as well as solving the problem of insufficient donor ***,the xenograft,suffered from immune rejection and ischemia-reperfusion injury(IRI),causes massive reactive oxygen species(ROS)expression and the subsequent cell apoptosis,leading to the xenograft *** previous study found a positive role of PPAR-γ in antiinflammation through its immunomodulation effects,which inspires us to apply PPAR-γ agonist rosiglitazone(RSG)to address survival issue of xenograft with the potential to eliminate the excessive *** this study,xenogenic bioroot was constructed by wrapping the dental follicle cells(DFC)with porcine extracellular matrix(p ECM).The hydrogen peroxide(H_(2)O_(2))-induced DFC was pretreated with RSG to observe its protection on the damaged biological *** staining and transmission electron microscope were used to detect the intracellular ROS *** rat orthotopic transplantation model and superoxide dismutase 1(SOD1)knockout mice subcutaneous transplantation model were applied to explore the regenerative outcome of the *** showed that RSG pretreatment significantly reduced the adverse effects of H2O2on DFC with decreased intracellular ROS expression and alleviated mitochondrial *** vivo results confirmed RSG administration substantially enhanced the host’s antioxidant capacity with reduced osteoclasts formation and increased periodontal ligament-like tissue regeneration efficiency,maximumly maintaining the xenograft *** considered that RSG preconditioning could preserve the biological properties of the transplanted stem cells under oxidative stress(OS)microenvironment and promote organ regeneration by attenuating the inflammatory reaction and OS injury.

A sequencing batch reactor （SBR） seeded with activated sludge was established for landfill leachate treatment. Small bio-aggregates began to appear after 40-d operation, and gradually changed to mature aerobic granules, with a mean size of 0.36-0.60 ram. Their sludge volume index at 5 min （SVI5 rain）, mixed liquor volatile suspended solids （MLVSS）, and wet density were around 35 ml/g, 3.4 g/L, and 1.062 g/cm3, respectively. The settling velocities of the granules in distilled water ranged from 0.3 to 1.3 cm/s, which were faster than those in landfill leachate with a salt content of 1.4% （w/v）, and also slightly faster than those predicted by Stokes＇ law for porous but impermeable particles. Microbial community evolution during the granulation process and stages under different nitrogen loading rates （NLRs） were monitored and analyzed by polymerase chain reaction-denaturing gradient gel electrophoresis （PCR-DGGE）, cloning, and sequencing of 16S ribosomal RNA （rRNA） fragments. Results revealed that some primary and dominant communities in inoculating activated sludge died out gradually; while a few common bacteria, inhabiting soils, municipal wastewater, or activated sludge systems, dominated in the SBR system throughout. In addition, some other dominant species, associated with the aerobic granulation process, were thought to play a significant role in the formation and growth of aerobic granular sludge. During the stable operation time under low NLR, a few species were present in abundance, and may have been responsible for the high organic removal efficiency at this time.

Capacitive deionization(CDI)technology has been considered a promising desalination technique,especially for brackish water,because of its relatively low energy consumption,facile operation,and easy regeneration of ***,the desalination capacity,cost,fabrication method,electrochemical stability,and environmental unfriendliness of the electrodes have restricted the practical application of the CDI ***,we reported the one-step in situ preparation of nitrogen-doped and carbon-decorated MXene-derived TiO_(2)(termed N-TiO_(2−x)/C)through the confinement-growth *** small particle size(∼25 nm)and uniform distribution of a peanut-like N-TiO_(2−x)/C material could be ascribed to the confined growth space created by the nanoporous structure of melamine *** defects produced by N doping provide an enhanced electrical conductivity and more adsorption sites,while wrapping with a carbon shell layer increases the conductivity and offers protection for N-TiO_(2−x) to achieve an excellent electrochemical *** prepared N-TiO_(2−x)/C electrode is hydrophilic due to the abundant oxygen-containing functional groups(e.g.,C-O,N-Ti-O,-NO_(x),and-OH)and exhibits a high salt removal capacity(33.4 mg·g^(−1)),desalination rate(1.5 mg·g^(−1)·min^(−1)),and remarkable cycling stability(without declining after 100 cycles),which might be ascribed to the synergistic effects of the short ion diffusion path,more active adsorption sites,enhanced conductivity,pseudocapacitive behavior,and protection of the carbon shell *** work provides a confined-growth strategy to develop MXene-derived oxide electrodes for electrochemical desalination.
