Tailoring Light–Matter Interactions in Overcoupled Resonator for Biomolecule Recognition and Detection

Plasmonic nanoantennas provide unique opportunities for precise control of light–matter coupling in surface-enhanced infrared absorption(SEIRA)spectroscopy,but most of the resonant systems realized so far suffer from the obstacles of low sensitivity,narrow bandwidth,and asymmetric Fano resonance ***,we demonstrated an overcoupled resonator with a high plasmon-molecule coupling coefficient(μ)(OC-Hμresonator)by precisely controlling the radiation loss channel,the resonator-oscillator coupling channel,and the frequency detuning *** observed a strong dependence of the sensing performance on the coupling state,and demonstrated that OC-Hμresonator has excellent sensing properties of ultra-sensitive(7.25%nm^(−1)),ultra-broadband(3–10μm),and immune asymmetric Fano *** characteristics represent a breakthrough in SEIRA technology and lay the foundation for specific recognition of biomolecules,trace detection,and protein secondary structure analysis using a single array(array size is 100×100μm^(2)).In addition,with the assistance of machine learning,mixture classification,concentration prediction and spectral reconstruction were achieved with the highest accuracy of 100%.Finally,we demonstrated the potential of OC-Hμresonator for SARS-CoV-2 *** findings will promote the wider application of SEIRA technology,while providing new ideas for other enhanced spectroscopy technologies,quantum photonics and studying light–matter interactions.

Study of Air Quality Objectives(AQOs)and long-term changes of air pollution plays a decisive role in formulating and refining pollution control *** this study,10-year variations of six major air pollutants were analyzed at seven monitoring sites in Hong Kong *** continuous decrease of annual averaged concentrations of NO_(2),SO_(2),CO,PM_(2.5)and PM_(10)and numbers of days with severe pollution conditions validated the efficiency of the series of air pollution control schemes implemented by the Hong Kong region ***,there is still a big gap to meet the ultimate targets described by the World Health ***,the concentration of O_(3)at roadside and urban stations increased by 135%±25%and 37%±18%from 2011 to 2020,respectively,meanwhile the highest 8 hr averaged O_(3)concentration was observed as 294μg/m^(3)at background station in 2020,which pointed out the increasing ozone pollution in Hong Kong *** was a great decrease in the annual times of air quality health index(AQHI)laying in“high”,“very high”and“serious”categories from 2011 to 2020 with the decrease rate of 89.70%,91.30%and 89.74%at roadside stations,and 79.03%,95.98%and 72.73%at urban stations,***,the number of days categorized as“high”or above at roadside station was twice more than that in the urban station during the past ten ***,more policies and attentions should be given to the roadside air quality and its adverse health effect to pedestrians on street.

Sustainable wearable energy storage devices self-charged by human-body bioenergy

Charging wearable energy storage devices with bioenergy from human-bodymotions, biofluids, and body heat holds great potential to construct self-powered body-worn electronics, especially considering the ceaseless nature ofhuman metabolic activities. To bridge the gap between human-body bioen-ergy and storage of energy, wearable triboelectric/piezoelectric nanogenerators(TENGs/PENGs), biofuel cells (BFCs), thermoelectric generators (TEGs) havebeen designed to harvest energy from body-motions, biofluids, and body heat,respectively. Researchers have explored various strategies using bioenergy har-vesters to charge wearable supercapacitors and batteries to relieve or even fullyeliminate the recharging process from external power stations, thus, makingwearable electronics more sustainable, autonomous, and user friendly. In thisarticle, we review the advances in the design of sustainable energy storagedevices charged by human-body energy harvesters. The progress in multifunc-tional wearable energy storage devices that cater to the easy integration withhuman-body energy harvesters will be summarized. Then, the focus is laid onthe integrating strategies (single-cell strategy and separated-cell strategy), devicedesign, materials selection, and characteristics of different self-charging human-body energy harvesting-storage systems. Finally, the challenges that impedethe wide application of human-body energy harvesters charged supercapaci-tors/batteries and prospects will be discussed both from materials and structuraldesign aspects.

The effects of Ho substitution for Nd on the microstructure, corrosion resistance and thermal stability of the Nd-Fe-B magnets were investigated. The（Nd,Ho）-O phase was formed with increasing Ho substitution. The results of potentiodynamic polarization and highly accelerated stress test show improved corrosion resistance with increasing Ho substitution. The optimum mass loss 0.29 mg/cm^2 is ***, the average temperature coefficients for remanence and coercivity in the range of 25-150℃are both closer to zero, indicating improved thermal stability. The mechanisms for the improved corrosion resistance and thermal stability are discussed in relation to the microstructure featuring the（Nd,Ho）-O phase.

A crystallographic homogenization method is proposed and implemented to predict the evolution of plastic deformation induced texture and plastic anisotropy （earring） in the stamping of polycrystalline sheet metals. The microscopic inhomogeneity of crystal aggregate has been taken into account with the microstructure made up of a representative aggregate of single crystal grains. Multi-scale analysis is performed by coupling the microscopic crystal plasticity with the macroscopic continuum response through the present homogenization procedure. The macroscopic stress is defined as the volume average of the corresponding microscopic crystal aggregations, which simultaneously satisfies the equation of motion in both micro- and macro-states. The proposed numerical implementation is based on a finite element discretization of the macrocontinuum, which is locally coupled at each Gaussian point with a finite element discretization of the attached micro-structure. The solution strategy for the macro-continuum and the pointwiseattached micro-structure is implemented by the simultaneous employment of dynamic explicit FE formulation. The rate-dependent crystal plasticity model is used for the constitutive description of the constituent single crystal grains. It has been confirmed that Taylor＇s constant strain homogenization assumption yields an undue concentration of the preferred crystal orientation compared with the present homogenization in the prediction of texture evolution, with the latter having relaxed the constraints on the crystal grains. Two kinds of numerical examples are presented to demonstrate the capability of the developed code： 1） The texture evolution of three representative deformation modes, and 2） Plastic anisotropy （earring） prediction in the hemispherical cup deep drawing process of aluminum alloy A5052 with initial texture. Jerk-limited feedrate scheduling and optimization for five-axis machining using new piecewise linear programming approach

In this paper, a new computation method and an optimization algorithm are presented for feedrate scheduling of five-axis machining in compliance with both machine drive limits and process limits. Five-axis machine tool with its ability of controlling tool orientation to follow the sculptured surface contour has been widely used in modern manufacturing industry. Feedrate scheduling serving as a kernel of CNC control system plays a critical role to ensure the required machining accuracy and reliability for five-axis machining. Due to the nonlinear coupling effects of all involved drive axes and the saturation limit of servo motors, the feedrate scheduling for multi-axis machining has long been recognized and remains as a critical challenge for achieving five-axis machine tools’ full capacity and advantage. To solve the nonlinearity nature of the five-axis feedrate scheduling problems, a relaxation mathematical process is presented for relaxing both the drive motors’ physical limitations and the kinematic constraints of five-axis tool motions. Based on the primary optimization variable of feedrate, the presented method analytically linearizes the machining-related constraints, in terms of the machines’ axis velocities, axis accelerations and axis jerks. The nonlinear multi-constrained feedrate scheduling problem is transformed into a manageable linear programming problem. An optimization algorithm is presented to find the optimal feedrate scheduling solution for the five-axis machining problems. Both computer implementation and laboratorial experiment testing by actual machine cutting were conducted and presented in this paper. The experiment results demonstrate that the proposed method can effectively generate efficient feedrate scheduling for five-axis machining with constraints of the machine tool physical constraints and limits.
