KCNQ1 rs2237895 gene polymorphism increases susceptibility to type 2 diabetes mellitus in Asian populations

BACKGROUND The association of single nucleotide polymorphism of KCNQ1 gene rs2237895 with type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM)is currently *** is unknown whether this association can be gene realized across different *** To determine the association of KCNQ1 rs2237895 with T2DM and provide reliable evidence for genetic susceptibility to *** We searched PubMed,Embase,Web of Science,Cochrane Library,Medline,Baidu Academic,China National Knowledge Infrastructure,China Biomedical Literature Database,and Wanfang to investigate the association between KCNQ1 gene rs2237895 and the risk of T2DM up to January 12,*** Manager 5.4 was used to analyze the association of the KCNQ1 gene rs2237895 polymorphism with T2DM and to evaluate the publication bias of the selected *** Twelve case–control studies(including 11273 cases and 11654 controls)met our inclusion *** the full population,allelic model[odds ratio(OR):1.19;95%confidence interval(95%CI):1.09–1.29;Phe KCNQ1 gene rs2237895 polymorphism was significantly correlated with susceptibility to *** stratified analysis,this association was confirmed in Asian populations:allelic model(OR:1.25;95%CI:1.13–1.37;P<0.0001),recessive model(OR:1.29;95%CI:1.11–1.49;P=0.0007),dominant model(OR:1.35;95%CI:1.20–1.52;P<0.0001),codominant model(OR:1.49;95%CI:1.22–1.81;P<0.0001)(OR:1.26;95%CI:1.16–1.36;P<0.0001).In non-Asian populations,this association was not significant:Allelic model(OR:1.06,95%CI:0.98–1.14;P=0.12),recessive model(OR:1.04;95%CI:0.75–1.42;P=0.83),dominant model(OR:1.06;95%CI:0.98–1.15;P=0.15),codominant model(OR:1.08;95%CI:0.82–1.42;P=***:1.15;95%CI:0.95–1.39;P=0.14).CONCLUSION KCNQ1 gene rs2237895 was significantly associated with susceptibility to T2DM

Product quality prediction based on RBF optimized by firefly algorithm

With the development of information technology,a large number of product quality data in the entire manufacturing process is accumulated,but it is not explored and used *** traditional product quality prediction models have many disadvantages,such as high complexity and low *** overcome the above problems,we propose an optimized data equalization method to pre-process dataset and design a simple but effective product quality prediction model:radial basis function model optimized by the firefly algorithm with Levy flight mechanism(RBFFALM).First,the new data equalization method is introduced to pre-process the dataset,which reduces the dimension of the data,removes redundant features,and improves the data *** the RBFFALFM is used to predict product *** expe riments conducted on real-world product quality datasets validate that the new model RBFFALFM combining with the new data pre-processing method outperforms other previous me thods on predicting product quality.

Liquid crystals are a vital component of modern photonics,and recent studies have demonstrated the exceptional sensing properties of stimuli-responsive cholesteric liquid ***,existing cholesteric liquid crystal-based sensors often rely on the naked eye perceptibility of structural color or the measurement of wavelength changes by spectrometric tools,which limits their practical ***,developing a platform that produces recognizable sensing signals is *** this study,we present a visual sensing platform based on geometric phase encoding of stimuli-responsive cholesteric liquid crystal polymers that generates real-time visual patterns,rather than frequency *** demonstrate this platform’s effectiveness,we used a humidity-responsive cholesteric liquid crystal polymer film encoded with a q-plate pattern,which revealed that humidity causes a shape change in the vortex beam reflected from the encoded cholesteric liquid crystal ***,we developed a prototype platform towards remote humidity monitoring benefiting from the high directionality and long-range transmission properties of laser beams carrying orbital angular *** approach provides a novel sensing platform for cholesteric liquid crystals-based sensors that offers promising practical *** ability to generate recognizable sensing signals through visual patterns offers a new level of practicality in the sensing field with stimuli-responsive cholesteric liquid *** platform might have significant implications for a broad readership and will be of interest to researchers working in the field of photonics and sensing technology.

Prediction of liquid circulation flow rate in RH degasser:improvement of decarburization at low atmospheric pressure

The two-fluid model coupled with population balance model was used for simulating the gas-liquid flow in the Ruhrstahl-heraeus(RH)*** predicted circulation flow rate was compared with that measured from a water model experiment to validate the mathematical ***,influence of snorkel immersion depth on liquid circulation flow rate was numerically investigated under an atmospheric pressure of 101 and 84 kPa,*** result indicates that the circulation flow rate of the RH degasser in the high-altitude area was severely reduced because of the decrease in atmospheric ***,increasing the snorkel immersion depth from 0.5 to 0.7 m can compensate for the decrease in atmospheric *** test result indicates that decarburization rate is significantly enhanced by increasing the snorkel immersion *** optimization,the percentage of heats with a final carbon content less than 0.002 wt.%is significantly increased from 22.0%to 96.4%.

Toxicity mechanisms of photodegraded polyvinyl chloride nanoplastics on pea seedlings

Nanoplasctics(NPs),which are very small in particle size,exert toxic effect to ***,compared to original NPs,photodegraded NPs would pose higher *** is because their relatively higher specific surface areas and the presence of additives which can more easily *** original NPs and aged NPs affect plant growth has not been widely *** work chose polyvinyl chloride NPs(PVC-NPs)that were subjected to up to 1000 h UV light radiation to explore the impact of PVC-NPs on the growth of pea seedlings(Pisum Sativum L.).The results indicated the existence of PVC-NPs with longer UV light radiation time and higher concentrations had more negative influences on pea seedlings’growth such as germination rate(decreased by 10.6%–22.5%),stem length(decreased by 2.8%–8.1%),dry weight(decreased by 6.3%–7.1%)and fresh weight(decreased by 6.7%–14.8%).It was also noted that photodegraded PVC-NPs resulted in damage to leaf stomata and roots,hindering photosynthesis and absorption of nutrients and hence the decrease in chlorophyll and soluble sugar *** to transcriptomic investigation results,the presence of aged PVC-NPs primarily influenced protein processing in endoplasmic reticulum(upregulated metabolic pathway)and phenylpropanoid biosynthesis(downregulated metabolic pathway)of pea *** results provide an in-depth understanding of how NPs influence the growth of plants.

The debris cloud generated by the hypervelocity impact(HVI)of orbiting space debris directly threatens the spacecraft.A full understanding of the damage mechanism of rear plate is useful for the optimal design of protective *** this study,the hypervelocity yaw impact of a cylindrical aluminum projectile on a double-layer aluminum plate is simulated by the FE-SPH adaptive method,and the damage process of the rear plate under the impact of the debris cloud is analyzed based on the debris cloud *** damage process can be divided into the main impact stage of the debris cloud and the structural response of the rear *** main impact stage lasts a short time and is the basis of the rear plate *** the stage of structure response,the continuous deformation and inertial motion of the rear plate dominate the perforation of the rear *** further analyze the damage mechanism and damage distribution characteristics of the rear plate in ***,the connection between velocity space and position space of the debris cloud is established,which promotes the general analysis of the damage law of debris *** on the relationship,the features of typical damage areas are identified by the localized fine *** the cumulative effect and structural response cause the perforation of rear plate;in the non-perforated area,cratering by the impact of hazardous fragments is the main damage mode of the rear plate.

Toward Trustworthy Decision-Making for Autonomous Vehicles:A Robust Reinforcement Learning Approach with Safety Guarantees

While autonomous vehicles are vital components of intelligent transportation systems,ensuring the trustworthiness of decision-making remains a substantial challenge in realizing autonomous ***,we present a novel robust reinforcement learning approach with safety guarantees to attain trustworthy decision-making for autonomous *** proposed technique ensures decision trustworthiness in terms of policy robustness and collision ***,an adversary model is learned online to simulate the worst-case uncertainty by approximating the optimal adversarial perturbations on the observed states and environmental *** addition,an adversarial robust actor-critic algorithm is developed to enable the agent to learn robust policies against perturbations in observations and ***,we devise a safety mask to guarantee the collision safety of the autonomous driving agent during both the training and testing processes using an interpretable knowledge model known as the Responsibility-sensitive Safety ***,the proposed approach is evaluated through both simulations and *** results indicate that the autonomous driving agent can make trustworthy decisions and drastically reduce the number of collisions through robust safety policies.
