A hybrid cNN-lSTM model for diagnosing rice nutrient levels at the rice panicle initiation stage

Nitrogen(N)and potassium(K)are two key mineral nutrient elements involved in rice *** diagnosis of N and K status is very important for the rational application of fertilizers at a specific rice growth ***,we propose a hybrid model for diagnosing rice nutrient levels at the early panicle initiation stage(EPIS),which combines a convolutional neural network(cNN)with an attention mechanism and a long short-term memory network(lSTM).The model was validated on a large set of sequential images collected by an unmanned aerial vehicle(UAV)from rice canopies at different growth stages during a two-year *** with VGG16,AlexNet,GoogleNet,DenseNet,and inceptionV3,ResNet101 combined with lSTM obtained the highest average accuracy of 83.81%on the dataset of Huanghuazhan(HHZ,an indica cultivar).When tested on the datasets of HHZ and Xiushui 134(XS134,a japonica rice variety)in 2021,the ResNet101-lSTM model enhanced with the squeeze-and-excitation(SE)block achieved the highest accuracies of 85.38 and 88.38%,*** the cross-dataset method,the average accuracies on the HHZ and XS134 datasets tested in 2022 were 81.25 and 82.50%,respectively,showing a good *** proposed model works with the dynamic information of different rice growth stages and can efficiently diagnose different rice nutrient status levels at EPIS,which are helpful for making practical decisions regarding rational fertilization treatments at the panicle initiation stage.

A series of emission reduction measures were conducted in Wuhan,central china,to ensure good air quality during the 7th Military World Games(MWG)in October *** better understand the implications for ozone(O_(3))pollution control strategies,we applied integrated analysis approaches based on the de-weathered statistical model,parameterization methods,chemical box model,and positive matrix factorization *** the MWG,concentrations of O_(3),NO_x,and volatile organic compound(VOcs),OFP(O_(3)formation potential),l_(OH)(OH radical loss rate)were 83μg/m^(3),43μg/m^(3),26 ppbv,188μg/m^(3),and 3.9 s^(-1),respectively,which were 26%,18%,3%,15%,and 13%lower than pre-MWG values and 6%,39%,30%,33%,and 50%lower than post-MWG values,*** removing meteorological influence,O_(3)and its precursors during the MWG decreased largely compared with post-MWG values,and only O_(3),NO_(2),and oxygenated VOcs(OVOcs)declined compared with pre-MWG values,which revealed the emission reduction measures during the MWG played an important role for O_(3)*** six VOcs sources,the mass contributions of biomass burning and solvents usage during the MWG decreased largely compared with pre-MWG values.O_(3)production was sensitive to VOcs and the key species were aromatics,OVOcs,and alkenes,which originated mainly from solvents usage,biomass burning,industrial-related combustion,and vehicle *** O_(3)concentration during the strict control was mainly caused by OVOcs reduction due to biomass burning ***,the O_(3)abatement strategies of Wuhan should be focused on the mitigation of high-reactivity VOcs.

Fusion of a rice endogenous N-methylpurine DNA glycosylase to a plant adenine base transition editor ABE8e enables A-toK base editing in rice plants

Engineering of a new type of plant base editor for simultaneous adenine transition and transversion within the editing window will greatly expand the scope and potential of base editing in directed evolution and crop ***,we isolated a rice endogenous hypoxanthine excision protein,N-methylpurine DNA glycosylase(OsMPG),and engineered two plant A-to-K(K=G or T)base editors,rAKBE01 and rAKBE02,for simultaneous adenine transition and transversion base editing in rice by fusing OsMPG or its mutant mOsMPG to a plant adenine transition base editor,*** further coupled either OsMPG or mOsMPG with a transactivation factor VP64 to generate rAKBE03 and rAKBE04,*** these four rAKBEs,at five endogenous loci in rice protoplasts,indicated that rAKBE03 and rAKBE04 enabled higher levels of A-to-G base transitions when compared to ABE8e and ***,whereas rAKBE01 only enabled A-to-c/T editing at one endogenous locus,in comparison with rAKBE02 and rAKBE03,rAKBE04 could significantly improve the A-to-c/T base transversion efficiencies by up to 6.57-and 1.75-fold in the rice protoplasts,***,although no stable lines with A-to-c transversion were induced by rAKBE01 and rAKBE04,rAKBE04 could enable simultaneous A-to-G and A-to-T transition and transversion base editing,at all the five target loci,with the efficiencies of A-to-G transition and A-to-T transversion editing ranging from 70.97 to 92.31%and 1.67 to 4.84%in rice stable lines,***,these rAKBEs enable different portfolios of editing products and,thus,now expands the potential of base editing in diverse application scenario for crop improvement.

Polyferrocene macrocycles hold immense potential in the fields of molecular electronics and electrochemistry,primarily due to their multiple metal ***,developing highly efficient synthetic strategies for constructing these rings remains a significant *** this study,we successfully synthesized triferrocenyl macrocycles using Pt-mediated coupling strategy and determined their configuration using single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis,revealing a structure reminiscent of the Penrose *** comprehensively investigated the macrocycle’s structure,photophysical properties,and employed density functional theory(DFT)calculations to gain further ***,this macrocycle exhibits several advantageous features,including a flexible structure,good solubility,and a highly efficient synthetic pathway.

Effects of zero-valent iron added in the flooding or drainage process on cadmium immobilization in an acid paddy soil

Zero-valent iron(ZVI)is a promising material for the remediation of cd-contaminated paddy ***,the effects of ZVI added during flooding or drainage processes on cadmium(cd)retention remain ***,cd-contaminated paddy soil was incubated for 40days of flooding and then for 15 days of drainage,and the underlying mechanisms of cd immobilization coupled with Fe/S/N redox processes were *** addition of ZVI to the flooding process was more conducive to cd *** potential available cd was detected by adding ZVI before flooding,which may be due to the increase in paddy soil pH and newly formed secondary Fe ***,the reductive dissolution of Fe minerals promoted the release of soil colloids,thereby increasing significantly the surface sites and causing cd ***,the addition of ZVI before flooding played a vital role in cd retention after soil *** contrast,the addition of ZVI in the drainage phase was not conducive to cd retention,which might be due to the rapid decrease in soil pH that inhibited cd adsorption and further immobilization on soil *** findings of this study demonstrated that cd availability in paddy soil was largely reduced by adding ZVI during the flooding period and provide a novel insight into the mechanisms of ZVI remediation in cd-contaminated paddy soils.

Tungsten separation behavior on preparation of high-purity cerium by combined vacuum gravity sedimentation-directional solidification

In light of the difficult removal of harmful impurity tungsten(W)in ce metal,in this paper a combined vacuum gravity sedimentation-directional solidification method was innovatively designed and the W separation behavior was *** reducing the electron beam power instantly and gradually at reduction rates of 1,3 and 5 kW/min,it is found that W is enriched at the bottom of ingots as the melt *** enrichment effect is much better than that of single purification method and the enrichment degree increases as the beam reduction rate decreases,attributed to the k0(W)>1 andρ(W)>ρ(ce).Overall,the minimum content of W impurity can decrease from 630 to 0.1 ppm at the top of the ingot,and the purity of ce increases from 99.932 wt%to 99.995 wt%by this combined ***,this paper provides a new method for the removal of high density and low evaporation coefficient impurities in low vapor pressure rare earth metals.

A virtual thermometer for ultrahigh-temperature-pressure experiments in a large-volume press

Ultrahigh-temperature-pressure experiments are crucial for understanding the physical and chemical properties of *** recent development of boron-doped diamond(BDD)heaters has made such melting experiments possible in large-volume ***,estimates of temperatures above 2600 K and of the temperature distributions inside BDD heaters are not well constrained,owing to the lack of a suitable ***,we establish a three-dimensional finite element model as a virtual thermometer to estimate the temperature and temperature field above 2600 *** advantage of this virtual thermometer over those proposed in previous studies is that it considers both alternating and direct current heating modes,the actual sizes of cell assemblies after compression,the effects of the electrode,thermocouple and anvil,and the heat dissipation by the pressure-transmitting *** virtual thermometer reproduces the power-temperature relationships of ultrahigh-temperature-pressure experiments below 2600 K at press loads of 2.8-7.9 MN(~19 to 28 GPa)within experimental *** temperatures above 2600 K predicted by our virtual thermometer are within the uncertainty of those extrapolated from power-temperature relationships below 2600 ***,our model shows that the temperature distribution inside a BDD heater(19-26 K/mm along the radial direction andlong the longitudinal direction)is more homogeneous than those inside conventional heaters such as graphite or lacrO_(3) heaters(100-200 K/mm).Our study thus provides a reliable virtual thermometer for ultrahigh-temperature experiments using BDD heaters in Earth and material sciences.

Engineering transition metal compounds(TMcs)catalysts with excellent adsorption-catalytic ability has been one of the most effec-tive strategies to accelerate the redox kinetics of sulfur ***,this review focuses on engineering TMcs catalysts by cation doping/anion doping/dual doping,bimetallic/bi-anionic TMcs,and TMcs-based heterostructure *** is obvious that introducing cations/anions to TMcs or constructing heterostructure can boost adsorption-catalytic capacity by regulating the electronic structure including energy band,d/p-band center,electron filling,and valence ***,the elec-tronic structure of doped/dual-ionic TMcs are adjusted by inducing ions with different electronegativity,electron filling,and ion radius,resulting in electron redistribution,bonds reconstruction,induced vacancies due to the electronic interaction and changed crystal structure such as lat-tice spacing and lattice *** from the aforementioned two strategies,heterostructures are constructed by two types of TMcs with different Fermi energy levels,which causes built-in electric field and electrons transfer through the interface,and induces electron redistribution and arranged local atoms to regulate the electronic ***,the lacking studies of the three strategies to comprehensively regulate electronic structure for improving catalytic performance are pointed *** is believed that this review can guide the design of advanced TMcs catalysts for boosting redox of lithium sulfur batteries.
