Functional foods,namely as natural or processed foods containing bioactive compounds,can provide health-promoting effects beyond basic nutrition,or offer the prevention or supplementary treatment of chronic *** bioactive components in functional foods usually have pleiotropic effects,including antioxidant,anti-inflammatory,hypolipidemic,glycemic-regulating,cytoprotective,and neuroprotective *** is one of the highly conserved cellular processes for the clearance of aberrant components in eukaryotic cells,and plays an essential role in health promotion and prevention and treatment of a series of chronic *** the cells are in the stress environment,the induced autophagy will accelerate the clearance of cellular damaged or toxic protein aggregates or dysfunctional cellular organelles to maintain homeostasis in *** this article,we summarize several widely investigated bioactive components used as functional foods,such as resveratrol,epigallocatechin-3-gallate,curcumin and trehalose,with the regulatory function for autophagy during the intervention of chronic diseases,which will provide the references or novel thoughts for the development of functional foods with the modulation of autophagy.

Recently,MnO2 has gained attention as an electrode material because of its very high theoretical capacity and abundant ***,the very high volumetric change caused by its conversion-type reaction results in bad reversibility of *** this study,δ-MnO2 of thickness 8 nm anchored on the surface of carbon nanotubes(CNT)by Mn-O-C chemical bonding is synthesized via a facile hydrothermal *** ex-situ characterizations of the lithium storage process were ***,density functional theory(DFT)calculations indicated thatδ-MnO2(012)thermodynamically prefers bonding with ***,the interfacial interaction reinforces the connection of Mn-O and reduces the bond strength of Li-O in lithiated MnO2,which could facilitate an intercalation-type lithium storage ***,the as-synthesizedδ-MnO2 retains an excellent reversible capacity of 577.5 mAh g-1 in 1000 cycles at a high rate of 2 A g-1 between 0.1 V and 3.0 *** results of this study demonstrate the possibility of employing the cost-effective transition metal oxides as intercalation lithium storage dominant electrodes for advanced rechargeable batteries.

To establish the model of indoor air pollution forecast for decoration. Methods The model was based on the balance model for diffusing mass. Results The data between testing concentration and estimating concentration were compared. The maximal error was less than 30% and average error was 14.6%. Conclusion The model can easily predict whether the pollution for decoration exceeds the standard and how long the room is decorated.

The aqueous environmental quality of the Haihe River Basin is crucial for the ecological health of local catchments and the Bohai *** the routine management neglected sediment tests and no legitimate tool supported the toxicity evaluation yet,one supplementary monitoring was implemented to examine the occurrence and toxic level of sediment metals in the lower reaches of the Haihe River Basin in *** world-widely used consensus-based sediment quality guidelines and China's environmental quality standard for soils(EQSS) were used as assessment ***,Zn, As,Hg,Cd,and Pb were detected in all 24 samples,while Cr was detected in 18 *** results showed 9 samples were toxic and the most dominant toxic element was *** the river water quality is getting better, sediment metals have accumulated over thirty years due to continuous industrial development,with toxicity far beyond safety *** highest toxicity levels were encountered in Binhai New Area,suggesting three rivers should be given priority for *** is found that EQSS is also applicable for sediment toxicity assessment until a dedicated tool for Haihe River Basin is available,except for that EQSS is too conservative for Pb.

BACKGROUND： Numerous studies have shown that apoptosis, caused by cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury, is a dynamic evolving process that occurs in a time-dependent fashion. Non-apoptotic cells can result in apoptosis, with a prolonged reperfusion period and an accumulation of DNA damage. Recent studies have indicated that theanine has a protective effect on the brain. Nonetheless, there is no research relating to whether theanine is neuroprotective following brain injury. OBJECTIVE： To investigate the effects of theanine on apoptosis in the cerebral cortex and mRNA expression of the DNA repair protein, XRCC1, and DNA repair enzyme, Ku70, at various time points following global cerebral ischemia/reperfusion in rats. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING： A randomized, controlled animal study was performed at the Pharmacological Laboratory of Animal Experimental Center of Xi＇an Jiaotong University, China, from April to October 2007. MATERIALS： Theanine （Wuhan Remote Technology Co., Ltd., China）, XRCC1, Ku70 and GAPDH primers （Shanghai Sangon Biological Engineering Technology ＆ Services Co., Ltd., China） were used in this study. METHODS： A total of 108 healthy, male Sprague Dawley rats were randomly divided into sham operation, ischemia/reperfusion and theanine groups. Each group was further divided into 6 subgroups, with six rats in each, according to reperfusion time （2, 6, 12, 24, 48 and 72 hours）. Rat models of global cerebral ischemia/reperfusion were established by the four-vessel occlusion method. Theanine （1 000 mg/kg） was injected into the caudal vein of rats in the theanine group immediately after surgery. Saline （4 mL/kg） was used in the sham operation and ischemia/reperfusion groups. The same dose was administered every 24 hours. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES： Flow cytometry was employed to determine apoptosis of cerebral cortical neurons. Borohydrides have been recently hightlighted as prospective new materials due to their high gravimetric capacities for hydrogen storage. It is, therefore, important to under- stand the underlying dehydrogenation mechanisms for further development of these ma- terials. We present a systematic theoretical investigation on the dehydrogenation mecha- nisms of the Mg2（BH4）2（NH2）2 compounds. We found that dehydrogenation takes place most likely via the intermolecular process, which is favorable both kinetically and thermo- dynamically in comparison with that of the intramolecular process. The dehydrogenation of Mg2（BH4）2（NH2）2 initially takes place via the direct combination of the hydridie H in BH4 and the protie H in NH2-, followed by the formation of Mg-H and subsequent ionic recombination of Mg-Hδ-…Hδ＋-N.

MAGIC is one of the most widely used models for forecasting long-term acidification. The model's code, however, has been experiencing numerical instability, though this might not be widely known to the public users. The major instability comes from the analytical solution to two cubic equations for calculating SO42- concentration and the exchangeable fraction of Al on the soils. The mathematical algorithm for calculating the concentration of SO42- from a quadratic equation is also found instable. This paper is aimed at improving the instability above through proved numerical algorithms.
