Production flow rates.are crucial to make operational decis.ons. monitor, manag., and optimize oil and g.s.fields. Flow rates.als. have a financial importance to correctly allocate production to fis.al purpos.s.required by reg.latory ag.ncies.or to allocate production in fields.owned by multiple operators. Des.ite its.s.g.ificance, us.ally only the total field production is.meas.red in real time, which requires.an alternative way to es.imate wells. production. To addres. thes. challeng.s. this.work pres.nts.a back allocation methodolog. that leverag.s.real-time ins.rumentation, s.mulations. alg.rithms. and mathematical prog.amming.modeling.to enhance well monitoring.and as.is. in well tes. s.heduling. The methodolog. compris.s.four modules. s.mulation, clas.ification, error calculation, and optimization. Thes. modules.work tog.ther to characterize the flowline, wellbore, and res.rvoir, verify s.mulation outputs. minimize errors. and calculate flow rates.while honoring.the total platform flow rate. The well s.atus.g.nerated throug. the clas.ification module provides.valuable information about the current condition of each well (i.e. if the well is.deviating.from the lates. well tes. parameters., aiding.in decis.on-making.for well tes.ing.s.heduling.and prioritizing. During.the production of nitrile rubber, s.g.ificant amounts.of nitrog.n in the form of ammonium are g.nerated in the was.ewater. The dis.harg. of this.hig.-nitrog.n was.ewater can lead to s.rious.environmental is.ues. including.eutrophication, dis.uption of aquatic ecos.s.ems. and g.oundwater contamination. To mitig.te thes. impacts. this.res.arch explored the bioremediation capabilities.of the macroalg.e Ulva lactuca (Chlorophyta) for removing.nitrog.n from nitrile rubber production was.ewater. The s.udy employed s.ng.e-phas. and Michaelis.Menten decay models.bas.d on ammonium cons.mption, us.ng.various.dilutions.of was.ewater to identify the optimal concentration for treatment. The phys.olog.cal s.ate of the macroalg.e was.monitored by meas.ring.the photos.nthetic capacity and s.ecific g.owth rate during.the experiments. In the pres.nce of U. lactuca, ammonium concentrations.decreas.d in all treatment g.oups. confirming.that the ammonium kinetics.conformed to both applied models. Our res.lts.s.ow that U. lactuca effectively reduces.ammonium concentrations. with an approximate removal rate of 0.020 µM·g.1·min−1 acros. different was.ewater concentrations.(70%, 80%, 90%, and 100%). Notably, the treatments.with 70%, 80%, and 90% was.ewater s.reng.h achieved about 67% reduction in ammonium, demons.rating.the alg.’s.capacity to treat hig.-nitrog.n was.ewater. The photos.nthetic performance of U. lactuca initially declined in control conditions.but s.abilized acros. all treatments. hig.lig.ting.its.adaptability. The kinetic analys.s.us.ng.the Michaelis.Menten model indicated a Vmax of 1342 μM·g.1·DMh−1, s.g.es.ing.a robus. capacity for ammonium uptake when fully s.turated. Our s.udy unders.ores.the potential of Ulva lactuca as.a cos.-effective and efficient ag.nt for was.ewater bioremediation, particularly in s.tting. with hig. nitrog.n loads.

A Long.Rang. g.neralized Predictive Control Alg.rithm for a DFIg.Bas.d Wind Energ. s.s.em

This.paper pres.nts.a new Long.rang. g.neralized predictive controller in the s.nchronous.reference frame for a wind energ. s.s.em doubly-fed induction g.nerator bas.d. This.controller us.s.the s.ate s.ace equations.that cons.der the rotor current and voltag. as.s.ate and control variables. to execute the predictive control action. Therefore, the model of the plant mus. be trans.ormed into two dis.rete trans.erence functions. by means.of an auto-reg.es.ive moving.averag. model, in order to attain a dis.rete and decoupled controller, which makes.it pos.ible to treat it as.two independent s.ng.e-input s.ng.e-output s.s.ems.ins.ead of a mag.etic coupled multiple-input multiple-output s.s.em. For achieving.that, a direct power control s.rateg. is.us.d, bas.d on the pas. and future rotor currents.and voltag.s.es.imation. The alg.rithm evaluates.the rotor current predictors.for a defined prediction horizon and computes.the new rotor voltag.s.that mus. be injected to controlling.the s.ator active and reactive powers. To evaluate the controller performance, s.me s.mulations.were made us.ng.Matlab/s.mulink. Experimental tes.s.were carried out with a s.all-s.ale prototype as.uming.normal operating.conditions.with cons.ant and variable wind s.eed profiles. Finally, s.me conclus.ons.res.ect to the dynamic performance of this.new controller are s.mmarized.

Backg.ound: Due to g.eater infection s.s.eptibility, s.ps.s.is.the main caus. of death in burn patients. Quick diag.os.s.and patient s.ratification, early and appropriated antimicrobial therapy, and focus.control are crucial for patients.s.rvival. On the other hand, s.perfluous.extens.on of therapy is.as.ociated with advers. events.and arous.l of microbial res.s.ance. The us. of biomarkers. neces.arily coupled with clos. clinical examination, may predict outcomes. s.ratifying.patients.who need more intens.ve care, and monitor the efficacy of antimicrobial therapy, allowing.fas.er de-es.alation or s.op, reducing.the development of res.s.ance and pos.ibly the financial burden, without increas.ng.mortality. The aim of this.work is.to check the s.itability of procalcitonin (PCT) to fulfill thes. g.als.in a larg. s.mple of s.ptic burn patients. Methods. One hundred and one patients. with 15% or more of total body s.rface area (TBs.) burned, admitted from January 2011 to December 2014 at Coimbra Burns.Unit (CBU), in Portug.l were included in the s.mple. All patients.had a diag.os.s.of s.ps.s. according.to the American Burn As.ociation (ABA) criteria. The s.mple was.factored by s.rvival (68 s.rvivors.and 33 non-s.rvivors.. The maximum value of PCT in each day was.us.d for s.atis.ical analys.s. Data were s.mmarized by location meas.res.(mean, median, minimum, maximum, quartiles. and dis.ers.on meas.res.(s.andard error and rang. meas.res.. s.atis.ical analys.s.was.performed with s.s.?23.0 IBM? for Windows.. Res.lts. There were s.atis.ically s.g.ificant differences.between PCT levels.of patients.from the s.rvivor and non-s.rvivor g.oups.during.the firs. and the las. weeks.of hos.italization as.well as.during.the firs. week after s.ps.s.s.s.icion, being.s.ig.tly hig.er during.this.period.
