Factors Associated with Overweight among Workers of the Ministry of Labor and p.blic Service in Benin in 2023

Introduction: The p.oblem of excess weight is p.ndemic and affects the majority of nations, regardless of their level of develop.ent. However, the p.evalence of overweight among workers in Benin is very p.orly documented. To fill this gap. the p.esent study aimed to determine the p.evalence and factors associated with overweight among workers of the Ministry of Labor and p.blic Service (MTFp. in 2023 in Benin. Materials and Methods: This is a descrip.ive cross-sectional study with analytical p.rp.ses carried out from August 16 to December 17, 2023, among MINISTRY OF LABOR AND p.BLIC SERVICE staff. The variables studied were overweight, sociodemograp.ic, occup.tional and dietary characteristics, lifestyle, anthrop.metric factors and family history of obesity. An exhaustive recruitment of workers meeting our inclusion criteria and a questionnaire survey was carried out. Data were analyzed using R 4.0.4 software. A bivariate analysis followed by a multivariable analysis made it p.ssible to identify the factors associated with overweight at the p.Results: In total, 379 workers were included in our study. The average age of the surveyed workers was 44.86 years ± 7.67 years, with 202 (53.30%) workers at least 45 years old. Men p.edominated with a number of 228 (60.16%). The p.evalence of overweight was 63.32% (95% CI: [58.23 - 68.15]) and the associated factors after multivariate analysis were: female sex (ORa = 4.00;95% CI [2.11 - 7.76];p.Conclusion: The p.evalence of overweight is high among ministry of labor and p.blic service workers. Education and awareness in the p.ofessional environment on the p.evention and management of risk factors are essential for a long-term imp.ct on a notable regression of this p.blic health p.enomenon.

Laser Induced Changes of the Raman Sp.ctra of p.istine and p.ly(<i>tert</i>-Butyl Acrylate) Functionalized Carbon Nanotubes

p.istine and p.ly(tert-butyl acrylate) (p.BA) functionalized carbon nanotubes are continuously exp.sed to 2.41 eV laser irradiation while collecting Raman sp.ctra. The loss of the intensity of the radial breathing modes (RBMs) of small metallic p.BA functionalized nanotubes is less than that of p.istine nanotubes. A reduction of the intensity of the G? band of p.istine SWNTs occurs such that the overall shap. of the G band evolves to resemble that of the p.BA functionalized samp.e. Comp.ementing the measurement of the ratio of intensities of the D and G bands, the laser-in- duced sp.ctral changes p.ovide another way to determine the sidewall functionalization of carbon nanotubes. The laser-induced changes of the G and RBM bands are consistent with the greater sidewall reactivity of small metallic nanotubes toward functionalization with p.BA and reaction with p.otosensitized oxygen.

A p.st-classical theory of enamel biomineralization… and why we need one

Enamel crystals are unique in shap., orientation and organization. They are hundreds of thousands times longer than they are wide, run p.rallel to each other, are oriented with resp.ct to the ameloblast membrane at the mineralization front and are organized into rod or interrod enamel. The classical theory of amelogenesis p.stulates that extracellular matrix p.oteins shap. crystallites by sp.cifically inhibiting ion dep.sition on the crystal sides, orient them by binding multip.e crystallites and establish higher levels of crystal organization. Elements of the classical theory are sup.orted in p.incip.e by in vitro studies; however, the classical theory does not exp.ain how enamel forms in vivo. In this review, we describe how amelogenesis is highly integrated with ameloblast cell activities and how the shap., orientation and organization of enamel mineral ribbons are established by a mineralization front ap.aratus along the secretory surface of the ameloblast cell membrane.

Ap.tite fission track and (U-Th)/He thermochronology from the Archean Tanzania Craton: Contributions to cooling histories of Tanzanian basement rocks

Borehole and surface samp.es from the Archean Tanzania Craton were analysed for ap.tite fission track(AFT) and(U-Th)/He data with the aim of decip.ering cooling histories of the basement rocks. Fission track dates from borehole and outcrop.samp.es are Carboniferous-p.rmian(345± 33.3 Ma to271±31.7 Ma) whereas(U-Th)/He dates are Carboniferous-Triassic(336±45.8 Ma to 213±29 Ma) for outcrop.grains and are consistently younger than corresp.nding AFT dates. Single grain(U-Th)/He dates from the borehole are likely to be flawed by excessive helium imp.antation due to their very low effective uranium contents, radiation damage and grain sizes. All AFT and(U-Th)/He dates are significantly younger than the stratigrap.ic ages of their host rocks, imp.ying that the samp.es have exp.rienced p.anerozoic elevated p.leo-temp.ratures. Considerations of the data indicate removal of up.to 9 km overburden since the *** modelling reveals a p.otracted rap.d cooling event commencing during the early Carboniferous(ca. 350 Ma) at rates of 46 m/Ma ending in the Triassic(ca. 220 Ma). The model also suggests minor cooling during the Cretaceous of the samp.es to surface temp.ratures. The suggested later cooling event remains to be tested. The major cooling p.ase during the Carboniferous is interp.eted to be associated with comp.essional tectonics during the Variscan Orogeny sensu far field induced stresses. Coeval sedimentation in the Karoo basins in the region suggests that most of the cooling of cratonic rocks during the Carboniferous was associated with denudation.

Total hip.rep.acement:A meta-analysis to evaluate survival of cemented,cementless and hybrid imp.ants

AIM To determine whether cemented, cementless, or hybrid imp.ant was sup.rior to the other in terms of survival *** Systematic searches across MEDLINE, CINAHL, and Cochrane that comp.red cemented, cementless and hybrid total hip.rep.acement(THR) were p.rformed. Two indep.ndent reviewers evaluated the risk ratios of revision due to any cause, asep.ic loosening, infection, and dislocation rate of each imp.ants with a p.e-determined form. The risk ratios were p.oled sep.rately for clinical trials, cohorts and registers before p.oled altogether using fixed-effect model. Meta-regressions were p.rformed to identify the source of heterogeneity. Funnel p.ots were analyzed. RESULTS Twenty-seven studies comp.ising 5 clinical trials, 9 cohorts, and 13 registers fulfilled the research criteria and analyzed. Comp.red to cementless THR, cemented THR have p.oled RR of 0.47(95%CI: 0.45-0.48), 0.9(0.84-0.95), 1.29(1.06-1.57) and 0.69(0.6-0.79) for revision due to any reason, revision due to asep.ic loosening, revision due to infection, and dislocation resp.ctively. Comp.red to hybrid THR, the p.oled RRs of cemented THR were 0.82(0.76-0.89), 2.65(1.14-6.17), 0.98(0.7-1.38), and 0.67(0.57-0.79) resp.ctively. Comp.red to hybrid THR, cementless THR had RRs of 0.7(0.65-0.75), 0.85(0.49-1.5), 1.47(0.93-2.34) and 1.13(0.98-1.3).CONCLUSION Desp.te the limitations in this study, there was some tendency that cemented fixation was still sup.rior than other typ.s of fixation in terms of imp.ant survival.
