Neuroendocrine(NE)transformation is a mechanism of resistance to targeted therapy in lung and prostate adenocarcinomas leading to poor *** to date,even if patients at high risk of transformation can be identified by the occurrence of Tumor Protein P53(TP53)and Retinoblastoma Transcriptional corepressor 1(RB1)mutations in their tumors,no therapeutic strategies are available to prevent or delay histological *** of the cell cycle kinase cell Division cycle 7(cDc7)occurred in tumors during the initial steps of NE transformation,already after TP53/RB1 co-inactivation,leading to induced sensitivity to the cDc7 inhibitor ***7 inhibition suppressed NE transdifferentiation and extended response to targeted therapy in in vivo models of NE transformation by inducing the proteasome-mediated degradation of the MYc Proto-Oncogen(MYc),implicated in stemness and histological *** overexpression of a degradation-resistant MYc isoform reestablished the NE transformation phenotype observed on targeted therapy,even in the presence of ***7 inhibition also markedly extended response to standard cytotoxics(cisplatin,irinotecan)in lung and prostate small cell carcinoma *** results nominate cDc7 inhibition as a therapeutic strategy to constrain lineage plasticity,as well as to effectively treat NE tumors de novo or after *** simurosertib clinical efficacy trials are ongoing,this concept could be readily translated for patients at risk oftransformation.

Using an Electronic Nose to Rapidly Assess Grandlure content in Boll Weevil Pheromone Lures

Samples of pheromone lures used in boll weevil, Anthonomus grandis （Boheman）, eradication programs are routinely analyzed by Gas chromatography （Gc） to ensure lures are adequately dosed with grandlure, the synthetic aggregation phero- mone produced by male weevils. However, preparation of Gc samples is tedious, time consuming, and requires a moderate level of experience. We examined the use of a commercially-available electronic nose （e-nose） for rapidly assessing the grandlure contents of lures. The e-nose was trained to recognize headspace collections of grandlure emitted from new lures and after lures were aged under field conditions for 4 d, 7 d, 10 d, and 14 d. Based on cross-validation of the training set, the e-nose was 82% accurate in discriminating among the different age classes of lures. Upon sampling headspace collections of pheromone from a different set of field-aged lures, the e-nose was 〈50% accurate in discriminating 4 d, 7 d, and 10 d aged lures from the other age classes of lures. However, the e-nose identified new and 14 d aged lure samples with 100% accuracy. In light of these findings, e-nose technology shows considerable promise as an alternative approach for rapidly assessing the initial grandlure contents of lures used in boll weevil eradication programs.

Effect of wastewater composition on the calcium carbonate precipitation in upflow anaerobic sludge blanket reactors

calcium carbonate often precipitates in anaerobic reactors treating wastewater with high calcium *** aim of this paper is to study the effect of wastewater composition on calcium carbonate precipitation in upflow anaerobic sludge blanket(UASB)*** laboratory-scale UASB reactors were operated with calcium-containing influents using acetate and carbohydrate as substrate,*** was an obvious accumulation of inorganic precipitate observed in the *** via scanning electron microscope(SEM)and energy dispersive spectroscopy(EDS)showed that the acclimated biogranules in the two reactors differed in *** carbonate was found to have precipitated on the surface of acetate-degrading biogranules,but precipitated at the core of the carbohydrate-degrading *** results indicated that substrates had significant influence on the location of calcium carbonate precipitation in anaerobic granular sludge,which was expected due to the different methanogens distribution and pH gradient within the granular sludge degrading various ***,the location of calcium carbonate precipitation substantially affected the specific methanogenic activity(SMA)of the granular *** SMA of the acetate-degrading biogranules dropped from 1.96 gcODcH4·gVSS^(–1)·d^(–1)to 0.61 gcODcH4·gVSS^(–1)·d^(–1)after 180-d of operation in the ***,the SMA of the carbohydrate-degrading biogranules was not adversely affected by calcium carbonate precipitation.

Stretching and shearing contamination analysis for liutex and other vortex identification methods

The newly developed vortex-identification method,liutex,has provided a new systematic description of the local fluid rotation,which includes scalar,vector,and tensor ***,the advantages of liutex over the other widely used vortexidentification methods such as Q,Δ,λ2,andλci have not been *** traditional methods count on shearing and stretching as a part of vortex ***,in the real flow,shearing and stretching do not contribute to fluid *** this paper,the decomposition of the velocity gradient tensor is conducted in the Principal coordinate for *** the contamination effects of stretching and shearing of the traditional methods are investigated and compared with the liutex method in terms of mathematical analysis and numerical *** results show that the liutex method is the only method that is not affected by either stretching or shear,as it represents only the local fluid rigid *** results provide supporting evidence that liutex is the superior method over others.

Medium-chain fatty acids and monoglycerides as feed additives for pig production:towards gut health improvement and feed pathogen mitigation

Ongoing challenges in the swine industry,such as reduced access to antibiotics and virus outbreaks(e.g.,porcine epidemic diarrhea virus,African swine fever virus),have prompted calls for innovative feed additives to support pig ***-chain fatty acids(McFAs)and monoglycerides have emerged as a potential option due to key molecular features and versatile functions,including inhibitory activity against viral and bacterial *** this review,we summarize recent studies examining the potential of McFAs and monoglycerides as feed additives to improve pig gut health and to mitigate feed *** molecular properties and biological functions of McFAs and monoglycerides are first introduced along with an overview of intervention needs at different stages of pig *** latest progress in testing McFAs and monoglycerides as feed additives in pig diets is then presented,and their effects on a wide range of production issues,such as growth performance,pathogenic infections,and gut health,are *** utilization of McFAs and monoglycerides together with other feed additives such as organic acids and probiotics is also described,along with advances in molecular encapsulation and delivery ***,we discuss how McFAs and monoglycerides demonstrate potential for feed pathogen mitigation to curb disease *** forward,we envision that McFAs and monoglycerides may become an important class of feed additives in pig production for gut health improvement and feed pathogen mitigation.

Regional ozone pollution and key controlling factors of photochemical ozone production in Pearl River Delta during summer time

An intensive field campaign including measurements from the environmental monitoring network and from two super sites took place in the Pearl River Delta region in summer *** routinely measured O3 and NOx concentrations,the spatial and temporal variation of O3 and of the total oxidant concentrations was *** to the spatial variability of NO2/NO,the two super sites were found to be representative of polluted urban and downwind suburban *** addition,both sites were located in high O3 ***-depth diagnostic of photochemical ozone production processes and their key controlling factors are achieved with an observation-based model(OBM) to gain regional *** analysis and sensitivity model runs show that aldehyde and HONO chemistry had significant impacts on local photochemical ozone production *** analysis of calculated Relative Incremental Reactivities shows that photochemical ozone production rates are mainly sensitive to anthropogenic hydrocarbons(Hcs) in the polluted urban *** the suburban areas,sensitivity to nitrogen oxide(NO) concentrations *** anthropogenic Hcs in both areas are alkenes and *** differences of ozone production efficiencies are identified between the urban and suburban regions,consistent with the OBM diagnosed results.

Diphenyl （4-hydroxyphenyl） hexadecyl phosphonium bromide （POH） -modified montmorillonite （POHMMT） was used to prepare a novel Tic14/Mgc12/POHMMT compound catalyst and exfoliated iPP/POHMMT nanocomposites were prepared by the in situ intercalative polymerization of propylene with the Tic14/Mgc12/POHMMT compound catalyst. The POH surfactants don＇t change the catalytic characteristic of the Z-N catalyst and the obtained PP presents high isotacticity, normal molecular weight and molecular weight distribution. The WAXD, SAXS and TEM results demonstrate the highly exfoliated iPP/POHMMT nanocomposites were produced by the in situ polymerization with this novel catalyst, while the intercalated iPP/Na＋MMT nanocomposites were produced with the Tic14/Mgc12/Na＋MMT compound catalyst. Through this approach, in situ propylene polymerization can actually take place between the silicate layers and lead not only to PP with high isotacticity and molecular weight, but also to highly exfoliated PP nanocomposites.

computing the Smallest Eigenvalue of Large Ill-conditioned Hankel Matrices

This paper presents a parallel algorithm for finding the smallest eigenvalue of a family of Hankel matrices that are *** matrices arise in random matrix theory and require the use of extremely high precision ***,we find that a group of commonly-used approaches that are designed for high efficiency are actually less efficient than a direct approach for this class of *** then develop a parallel implementation of the algorithm that takes into account the unusually high cost of individual arithmetic *** approach combines message passing and shared memory,achieving near-perfect scalability and high tolerance for network *** are thus able to find solutions for much larger matrices than previously possible,with the potential for extending this work to systems with greater levels of *** contributions of this work are in three areas:determination that a direct algorithm based on the secant method is more effective when extreme fixed-point precision is required than are the algorithms more typically used in parallel floating-point computations;the particular mix of optimizations required for extreme precision large matrix operations on a modern multi-core cluster,and the numerical results themselves.
