The Yutu-2 rover onboard the Chang’E-4 mission performed the first lunar penetrating radar detection on the farside of the Moon.The high-frequency channel presented us with many unprecedented details of the subsurface structures within a depth of approximately 50 m.However,it was still difficult to identify finer layers from the cluttered reflections and scattering waves.We applied deconvolution to improve the vertical resolution of the radar profile by extending the limited bandwidth associated with the emissive radar pulse.To overcome the challenges arising from the mixed-phase wavelets and the problematic amplification of noise,we performed predictive deconvolution to remove the minimum-phase components from the Chang’E-4 dataset,followed by a comprehensive phase rotation to rectify phase anomalies in the radar image.Subsequently,we implemented irreversible migration filtering to mitigate the noise and diminutive clutter echoes amplified by deconvolution.The processed data showed evident enhancement of the vertical resolution with a widened bandwidth in the frequency domain and better signal clarity in the time domain,providing us with more undisputed details of subsurface structures near the Chang’E-4 landing site.

An effective and reliable prediction of the remaining useful life(RUL)of a tool is important to a metal forming process because it can significantly reduce unexpected maintenance,avoid machine shutdowns and increase system stability.This study proposes a new data-driven approach to the RUL prediction for metal forming processes under multiple contact sliding conditions.The data-driven approach took advantage of bidirectional long short-term memory(BLSTM)and convolutional neural networks(CNN).A pre-trained lightweight CNN-based network,WearNet,was re-trained to classify the wear states of workpiece surfaces with a high accuracy,then the classification results were passed into a BLSTM-based regression model as inputs for RUL estimation.The experimental results demonstrated that this approach was able to predict the RUL values with a small error(below 5%)and a low root mean square error(RMSE)(around 1.5),which was more superior and robust than the other state-of-the-art methods.

Melanocortin 4 receptor(MC4R),the most important monogenetic cause of human metabolic disorders,has been of great interest to many researchers in the field of energy homeostasis and public health.Because MC4R is a vital pharmaceutical target for maintaining controllable appetite and body weight for professional athletes,previous studies have mainly focused on the central,rather than the peripheral,roles of MC4R.Thus,the local expression of MC4R and its behavioral regulation remain unclear.In an attempt to shed light on different directions for future studies of MC4R signaling,we review a series of recent and important studies exploring the peripheral functions of MC4R and the direct physiological interaction between peripheral organs and central MC4R neurons in this article.

A major impediment to industrial urea synthesis is the lack of catalysts with high selectivity and activity,which inhibits the efficient industrial production of urea.Here,we report a new catalyst system suitable for the highly selective synthesis of industrial urea by in situ growth of graphdiyne on the surface of cobalt-nickel mixed oxides.Such a catalyst is a multi-heterojunction interfacial structure resulting in the obvious incomplete charge-transfer phenomenon between a graphdiyne and metal oxide interface and multiple intermolecular interactions.These intrinsic characteristics are the origin of the high performance of the catalyst.Studies on the me chanism reve al that the catalyst could effectively optimize the adsorption/desorption capacities of the intermediate and promote direct C-N coupling by significantly suppressing by-product reactions toward the formation of H2,CO,N2and NH3.The catalyst can selectively synthesize urea directly from nitrite and carbon dioxide in water at room temperature and pressure,and exhibits a record-high Faradaic efficiency of 64.3%,nitrogen selectivity(Nurea-selectivity) of86.0%,carbon selectivity(Curea-selectivity) of ～100%,as well as urea yield rates of 913.2 μg h-1mgcat-1and remarkable long-term stability.

DEM analysis of the influence of stirrer design on die filling with forced powder feeding

Die filling is a critical stage during powder compaction,which can significantly affect the product quality and efficiency.In this paper,a forced feeder is introduced attempting to improve the filling performance of a lab-scale die filling system.The die filling process is analysed with a graphics processing units(GPU)enhanced discrete element method(DEM).Various stirrer designs are assessed for a wide range of process settings(i.e.,stirrer speed,filling speed)to explore their influence on the die filling performance of free-flowing powder.Numerical results show that die filing with the novel helical-ribbon(i.e.,type D)stirrer design exhibits the highest filling ratio,implying that it is the most robust stirrer design for the feeder configuration considered.Furthermore,die filling performance with the type D stirrer design is a function of the stirrer speed and the filling speed.A positive variation of filling ratio(ηf>0%)can be ensured over the whole range of filling speed by adjusting the stirrer speed(i.e.,increasing the stirrer speed).The approach used in this study can not only help understand how the stirrer design affects the die filling performance but also guide the optimization of feeder system and process settings.

In the era of advanced wearable electronic devices,the triboelectric nanogenerators(TENGs)as energy harvesting and self-powered sensing units hold great promise.Selecting appropriate triboelectric material is the crucial factor to optimize the performance of TENG,while polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE)stands out as a highly versatile option among the various materials.In this study,we present an ultrafine nanofibrous PTFE(NF-PTFE)films prepared by novel in-situ fibrillation strategy as the triboelectric material in TENG devices.The innovative processing methodology facilely addresses the dilemma between high porosity and fine pore size of traditional porous PTFE films,meanwhile achieves exceptional mechanical strength,hydrophobicity,air permeability,and chemical resistance of the films.With the integration of nanofibrous PTFE films into contact-separation mode TENG and droplet-based TENG,these devices realize the peak electrical output of 131 V/10.8μA and 54 V/14μA with great durability,which surpass the performance of TENGs using traditional expanded PTFE films.Furthermore,a smart glove capable of recognizing hand gestures is proposed,which demonstrates the versatility,flexibility,and practicality of this material for potential use in smart devices.This reported NF-PTFE film provides insights for the design of high-performance TENG device for advanced wearable electrical applications.

Excessively high temperatures inside a power transformer can accelerate the ageing rate and even cause unplanned outages.Accurately estimating the hot-spot temperature(HST)of a power transformer is important for regulating the load and ensuring long-term operation.In this study,a closed-loop model of a 110-kV product transformer with an oil natural/air forced(ONAF)cooling mode is built to predict HST,in which the compression ratio of windings,equivalent heat source and radiator geometry are considered.According to the flow field of the winding,the‘dead oil zone’and reverse oil flow are observed in the horizontal oil channels.The accuracy of the proposed model is experimentally validated by temperature-rise tests.The results show that the absolute errors between the measured results and simulation are below 5°C,and the average error is~2°C.Furthermore,the arrangements of windings and radiators are studied to enhance the oil circulation.By adding 5 washers to the high-voltage winding,the average temperature can be decreased by 6°C compared with the case without a washer.Elevating the radiator can also mitigate the characteristic temperatures,and the optimal height difference between the radiator and winding centre is suggested to be 0.66 m.

It is a huge challenge for metal oxide semiconductor gas sensors to inspect volatile organic compounds(VOCs)at room temperature(RT).Herein,the effective utilization of cerium oxide(CeO_(2))nanowires for RT detection of VOCs was realized via regulating its surface chemical state.Oxygen vacancy engineering on CeO_(2) nanowires,synthesized via hydrothermal method,can be manipulated by annealing under various controlled atmospheres.The sample annealed under 5%H_(2)+95%Ar condition exhibited outstanding RT sensing properties,displaying a high response of 16.7 towards 20 ppm linalool,a fast response and recovery time(16 and 121 s,respectively),and a low detection of limit of 0.54 ppm.The enhanced sensing performance could be ascribed for the synergistic effects of its nanowire morphology,the large specific surface area(83.95 m^(2)/g),and the formation of extensive oxygen vacancy accompanied by an increase in Ce^(3+).Additionally,the practicability of the sensor was verified via two varieties of rice(Indica and Japonica rice)stored in various periods(1,3,5,7,15,and 30 d).The experimental results revealed that the sensor was able to distinguish Indica rice from Japonica rice.Accordingly,the as-developed sensor delivers a strategic material to develop high-performance RT electronic nose equipment for monitoring rice quality.

Semantic information processing for interoperability in the Industrial Internet of Things

With the advent of the Internet of Everything(IoE),the concept of fully interconnected systems has become a reality,and the need for seamless communication and interoperability among different industrial systems has become more pressing than ever before.To address the challenges posed by massive data traffic,we demonstrate the potentials of semantic information processing in industrial manufacturing processes and then propose a brief framework of semantic processing and communication system for industrial network.In particular,the scheme is featured with task-orientation and collaborative processing.To illustrate its applicability,we provide examples of time series and images,as typical industrial data sources,for practical tasks,such as lifecycle estimation and surface defect detection.Simulation results show that semantic information processing achieves a more efficient way of information processing and exchanging,compared to conventional methods,which is crucial for handling the demands of future interconnected industrial networks.
