High quality gold nanorods （NRs） with a monodisperse size and aspect ratio are essential for many applications. Here, we describe how nearly monodisperse gold NRs can be separated from polydisperse samples using density gradient ultracentrifugation. Size and dimension analysis by transmission electron microscopy （TEM） and absorption spectroscopy revealed that the Au NRs were separated mainly as a function of their aspect ratio The surface-enhanced Raman scattering （SERS） activity of Au NRs with lower aspect ratio is notably stronger than that of NRs with higher aspect ratio under 633 nm laser excitation, due to the size-dependent absorption of the longitudinal plasmon band. The separation approach provides a method to improve the quality of NRs produced by large scale synthetic methods.

Objective To investigate the expression profile of microRNA-21 in human cholangiocarcinoma tis- sues and to validate its bona fide targets in human cholangiocarcinoma cells. Methods The expression profile of microRNA-21 in human cholangiocarcinoma tissues and cholan- giocarcinoma cell line, QBC939, was evaluated by using real-time PCR analysis. The bona fide targets of microRNA-21 were analyzed and confirmed by dual luciferase reporter gene assay and western blot, respec- tively. The expressional correlation of microRNA-21 and its targets was probed in human cholangiocarci- noma tissues by using real-time PCR, locked nucleic acid in situ hybridization （LNA-ISH）, and immunohis- tochemistry analysis. Results Real-time PCR analysis revealed that microRNA-21 expression depicted a significant up-regulation in human cholangiocarcinoma tissues about 5.6-fold as compared to the matched normal bileduct tissues （P〈0.05）. The dual luciferase reporter gene assay revealed endogenous microRNA-21 in cholan- giocarcinoma cell line, QBC939, inhibited the luciferase reporter activities of wild-type PTEN （P〈0.01） and PDCD4 （P〈0.05） and had no this effect on mutated PTEN and PDCD4. Moreover, loss of microRNA-21 function led to a significant increase of PTEN and PDCD4 protein levels in QBC939 cells. Elevated microRNA-21 levels were accompanied by marked reductions of PTEN and PDCD4 expression in the same cholangiocarcinoma tissue. PH13-8Mo stainless steel powder with high sphericity and well fluidity was prepared by the plasma rotating electrode *** formed parts with ultra-high purity were manufactured by selective laser *** tensile and impact mechanical properties of the printed parts under three heat treatment regimes were compared to those without heat *** microstructure,grain orientation and phase composition were characterized by electron-backscatter diffraction,X-ray diffraction and transmission electron *** characterization results reveal that the addition of heat treatment makes the grains enlarge,and after different heat treatments,the average grain size from 1.51μm in the printed state increases to 2.78,3.09 and 2.06μm,*** formed parts are mainly composed of martensite and retained ***,the NiAl and M23C precipitates form,which are the major strengthening phases of PH13-8Mo stainless *** optimal heat treatment process is 925℃×1 h water cooling(WC)+0℃×2 h air cooling(AC)+540℃×4 h *** this heat treatment process,PH13-8Mo formed parts have the optimal comprehensive mechanical properties:the tensile strength,yield strength and impact energy KU2 are 1492 MPa,1432 MPa and 63 J,*** strengthening and toughening via heat treatment are mainly attributed to dislocation strengthening,the formation of NiAl and M23Co precipitates and the change of volume fraction of the retained austenite.
