This paper focuses on the next detectors for gravitational wave astronomy which will be required after the current ground based detectors have completed their initial observations, and probably achieved the first direct detection of gravitational waves. The next detectors will need to have greater sensitivity, while also enabling the world array of detectors to have improved angular resolution to allow localisation of signal sources. Sect. 1 of this paper begins by reviewing proposals for the next ground based detectors,and presents an analysis of the sensitivity of an 8 km armlength detector, which is proposed as a safe and cost-effective means to attain a 4-fold improvement in sensitivity. The scientific benefits of creating a pair of such detectors in China and Australia is emphasised. Sect. 2 of this paper discusses the high performance suspension systems for test masses that will be an essential component for future detectors, while sect. 3 discusses solutions to the problem of Newtonian noise which arise from fluctuations in gravity gradient forces acting on test masses. Such gravitational perturbations cannot be shielded, and set limits to low frequency sensitivity unless measured and suppressed. Sects. 4 and 5 address critical operational technologies that will be ongoing issues in future detectors. Sect. 4 addresses the design of thermal compensation systems needed in all high optical power interferometers operating at room temperature. Parametric instability control is addressed in sect. 5. Only recently proven to occur in Advanced LIGO, parametric instability phenomenon brings both risks and opportunities for future detectors. The path to future enhancements of detectors will come from quantum measurement technologies. Sect. 6 focuses on the use of optomechanical devices for obtaining enhanced sensitivity, while sect. 7 reviews a range of quantum measurement options.

Due to the increasing demand of replacing large capacity overhead lines with underground cables in Korea, KEPCO （Korea Electric Power Corporation） and LS Cable （LS Cable ＆ System） have developed 345 kV optical fiber composite XLPE （cross-linked polyethylene） 2,500 mm2 cable system. This system has been installed in Cheongna district of Incheon city. KEPCO and LS Cable are also planning to build the cooling system in a tunnel in order to reduce the ambient temperature caused by currents. In this paper, the process of development, field installation, and final inspection test of the complete system will be described.

Purpose：The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of flui replacement by water or sports drinks on serum heat shock protein 70（HSP70） levels and DNA damage during exercise at a high ambient ***：Ten male college athletes with an athletic career ranging from 6 to 11 years were recruited from Yonsei *** subjects ran on a treadmill at 75% of heart rate reserve during 4 different trials：thermoneutral temperature at 18℃（T）,high ambient temperature at 32℃ without flui replacement（H）,high ambient temperature at 32℃ with water replacement（HW）,and high ambient temperature at 32℃ with sports drink replacement（HS）.During each condition,blood samples were collected at the pre-exercise baseline（PEB）,immediately after exercise（IAE）,and60 min ***：Skin temperature significant y increased during exercise and was significant y higher in H compared to T and HS at ***,serum HSP70 was significant y increased in all conditions at IAE compared to PEB and was higher in H compared to T at the former time *** y increased lymphocyte DNA damage（DNA in the tail,tail length,tail moment） was observed in all trials at IAE compared to PEB,and attenuated DNA damage（tail moment） was observed in HS compared to H at ***：Acute exercise elevates serum HSP70 and induces lymphocyte DNA *** replacement by sports drink during exercise at high ambient temperature can attenuate HSP response and DNA damage by preventing dehydration and reducing thermal stress.

摘要试验旨在研究日粮中添加酵母源β-葡聚糖和单-菌株益生菌对肉鸡生长和抗体反应的影响。将630只1日龄的雄性肉鸡随机分为7组，每组3笼（30只鸡／笼），以饲喂不舍药物的玉米-豆粕型基础日粮为对照组，试验处理组分别在基础日粮中添加0．025％、0．050％和0．100％的β-葡聚糖与0．05％、0．10％和0．20％的解淀粉芽孢杆菌（BA—pro，13亿／g），养殖试验持续5周。试验结果表明：在第1天～第35天，0．025％和0．100％β-葡聚糖的处理组及0．10％和0．20％BA—pro处理组肉鸡增质量都显著高于对照组（P〈0．05）。β-葡聚糖和BA—pro处理组的饲料转化率均要高于对照组。所有处理组肉鸡的肝质量、腹部脂肪质量和胸部肌肉质量无显著差异，血清中酶活性和胆固醇含量也无显著差异（P〉0．05）。摄食含β-葡聚糖和BA—pro日粮的处理组，肉鸡体内的新城疫抗体水平以及传染性支气管炎的抗体滴度均显著高于对照组（P〈0．05）。同时，摄食含BA—pro日粮，肉鸡盲肠中产乳酸的菌株含量显著高于对照组（P〈0．05）。表明日粮中添加酵母源β-葡聚糖和BA—pro对肉鸡发挥生长促进剂和免疫增强剂的作用。此外，BA—pro还起到调节盲肠微生物菌群形态，促进肉鸡肠道有益菌生长的作用。

Characteristics and outcomes of chronic liver disease patients with acute deteriorated liver function by severity of underlying liver disease

AIM: To analyze characteristics and outcome of patients with acute-on-chronic liver failure(ACLF) according to the severity of underlying liver disease. METHODS: One hundred and sixty-seven adult patients with chronic liver disease and acute deteriorated liver function, defined by jaundice and coagulopathy, were analyzed. Predisposition, type of injury, response, organ failure, and survival were analyzed and compared between patients with non-cirrhosis(type A), cirrhosis(type B) and cirrhosis with previous decompensation(type C).RESULTS: The predisposition was mostly hepatitis B in type A, while it was alcoholic liver disease in typesB and C. Injury was mostly hepatic in type A, but was non-hepatic in type C. Liver failure, defined by CLIF-SOFA, was more frequent in types A and B, and circulatory failure was more frequent in type C. The 30-d overall survival rate(85.3%, 81.1% and 83.7% for types A, B and C, respectively, P = 0.31) and the 30-d transplant-free survival rate(55.9%, 65.5% and 62.5% for types A, B and C, respectively P = 0.33) were not different by ACLF subtype, but 1-year overall survival rate were different(85.3%, 71.7% and 58.7% for types A, B and C, respectively, P = 0.02).CONCLUSION: There were clear differences in predisposition, type of injury, accompanying organ failure and long-term mortality according to spectrum of chronic liver disease, implying classifying subtype according to the severity of underlying liver disease is useful for defining, clarifying and comparing ACLF.

AIM: To determine the incidence of appendiceal Crohn's disease(CD) and to summarize the characteristic histologic features of appendiceal ***: We reviewed the pathology files of 2179 appendectomy specimens from January 2007 to May2013. The computer-assisted retrieval search facility was utilized to collect specimens. We selected those cases that were diagnosed as CD or chronic granulomatous inflammation and defined the final diagnosis according to the histologic findings of CD, including transmural lymphocytic inflammation, non-caseating epithelioid granulomas, thickening of the appendiceal wall secondary to hypertrophy of muscularis mucosa,mucosal ulceration with crypt abscesses, mucosal fissures, and fistula formation. RESULTS: We found 12 cases(7 male and 5 female patients, with an average age of 29.8 years) of appendiceal CD. The incidence of appendiceal CD was 0.55%.The chief complaints were right lower quadrant pain,abdominal pain, lower abdominal pain, and *** duration of symptom varied from 2 d to 5 *** histologic review revealed appendiceal wall thickening in 11 cases(92%), transmural inflammation in all cases(100%), lymphoid aggregates in all cases(100%), epithelioid granulomas in all cases(100%), mucosal ulceration in 11 cases(92%), crypt abscesses in 5 cases(42%), perforation in 2 cases(17%), muscular hypertrophy in 1 case(8%), neural hyperplasia in 5 cases(42%), and perpendicular serosal fibrosis in 8 cases(67%).CONCLUSION: A typical and protracted clinical course, unusual gross features of the appendix and the characteristic histologic features are a clue in the diagnosis of appendiceal CD.
