Recent advances in the design and development of magnetic storage devices have led to an enormous interest in materials with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy(PMA)*** past decade has witnessed a huge growth in the development of flexible devices such as displays,circuit boards,batteries,memories,*** they have gradually made an impact on people’s ***,the integration of PMA materials with flexible substrates can benefit the development of flexible magnetic *** this study,we developed a heteroepitaxy of BaFe_(12)O_(19)(BaM)/muscovite which displays both mechanical flexibility and PMA *** particular PMA property was characterized by vibrating sample magnetometer,magnetic force microscopy,and x-ray absorption *** quantify the PMA property of the system,the intrinsic magnetic anisotropy energy density of~2.83 Merg cm−3 was ***,the heterostructure exhibits robust PMA property against severe mechanical *** findings of this study on the BaM/muscovite heteroepitaxy have several important implications for research in next-generation flexible magnetic recording devices and actuators.

Understanding the defense mechanisms of the host of an organism is important for infection *** previous studies,we demonstrated that interferon-a(IFN-a),but not IL-12,was produced by human peripheral blood mononuclear cells infected with varicella-zoster virus(VZV).Here,we investigated what kind of cell(s)and which signal molecule(s)are involved in IFN-a *** cell isolation and ELISA,we found that plasmacytoid dendritic cells(pDCs)were responsible for IFN-a production during VZV *** also found that Toll-like receptor 9(TLR9)was involved in VZV-induced IFN-a production because inhibitory CpG oligodeoxynucleotide inhibited IFN-a ***-inactivated VZV-induced IFN-a production was lower than that of active VZV,indicating another TLR9-independent *** studies demonstrated that double-stranded RNA-dependent protein kinase,but not DNA-dependent protein kinase was involved in VZV-induced IFN-a ***,these results suggest that pDCs play an important role in IFN-a production during VZV infection through TLR9-dependent and-independent pathways.

Pd77Cu6Si17(PCS) thin film metallic glasses(TFMGs) with high glass forming ability and hardness were selected as a hard coating for improving the surface hardness of AZ31 magnesium alloy. Both microindentation and nanoindentation tests were conducted on specimens with various PCS film thicknesses from 30 to 2000 nm. The apparent hardness and the relative indentation depth(β) were integrated using a quantitative model. The interaction parameters involved and relative hardness values were extracted from iterative calculations. According to the results, surface hardness can be enhanced greatly by PCS TFMGs in the shallow region, followed by gradual decrease with increasing β ratio. In addition, specimens with thinner coatings(e.g., 200nm) showed greater substrate-film interaction and those with thick coatings(e.g., 2000nm) became prone to film cracking. The optimum TFMG coating thickness in this study was estimated to be around 200 nm.

AIM： To assess the efficacy of metoclopramide （Met） for prevention of prolonged post-operative ileus in advanced gastric cancer patients undergoing D2 gastrectomy and intra-peritoneal chemotherapy （IPC）. METHODS： Thirty-two advanced gastric cancer patients undergoing D2 gastrectomy and IPC were allocated to two groups. Sixteen patients received Met immediately after operation （group A）, and 16 did not （group B）. Another 16 patients who underwent D2 gastrectomy without IPC were enrolled as the control group （group C）. All patients had received epidural pain control. The primary endpoints were time to first post-operative flatus and time until oral feeding with a soft diet without discomfort. Secondary endpoints were early complications during hospitalization. RESULTS： Gender, the type of resection, operating time, blood loss, tumor status and amount of narcotics were comparable in the three groups. However, the group C patients were older than those in groups A and B （67.5±17.7 vs 56.8±13.2, 57.5±11.7 years, P= 0.048）. First bowel flatus occurred after 4.35±0.93 d in group A, 4.94±1.37 d in group B, and 4.71±1.22 d in group C （P〉0.05）. Oral feeding of a sore diet was tolerated 7.21±1.92 d after operation in group A, 10.15±2.17 d in group B, and 7.53±1.35 d in group C （groups A and C vsgroup B, P〈0.05）. There was no significant difference in respect to the first flatus among the three groups. However, the time of tolerating oral intake with soft food in groups A and C patients was significantlyshorter than that in group B patients. Levels of C-reactive protein （CRP） were significantly lower in group C and there was a more prominent and prolonged response in CRP level in patients undergoing IPC. The incidence of post-operative complications was similar in the three groups except for prolonged post-operative ileus. There was no increased risk of anastomotic leakage in patients receiving Met. Yang and chang (2009) proposed a three-party authenticated key exchange protocol for securing communications in mobile-commerce environments. Their protocol reduces computation and communication costs by employing elliptic curve cryptosystems. However, Tan (2010) pointed out that Yang and chang (2009)'s protocol cannot withstand impersonation and parallel attacks, and further proposed an enhanced protocol to resist these attacks. This paper demonstrates that Tan (2010)'s approach still suffers from impersonation attacks, and presents an efficient and secure three-party authenticated key exchange protocol to overcome shown weaknesses.

AIM： To evaluate the optimal intervention point of a selective cyclooxygenase-2 （COX-2） inhibitor, Celecoxib, for inhibiting Helicobacter pylori （H pylori-associated gastric carcinogenesis in Mongolian gerbils （MGs）.METHODS： One hundred and twelve MGs were divided into six groups （A-F）. One hundred gerbils were inoculated with H pylor/（groups A-E）. Twelve gerbils were inoculated with vehicle broth only （group F）. After 4 wk, they were given N＇-methyl-N＇ -nitro-N-nitroso-guanidine （MNNG）（50 μg/mL） in the drinking water for 20 wk. in groups B-E, the animals were given the stock Celecoxib （10 mg/kg per day） diet from the 21st, 31st, 21st and 41st week respectively. The periods of administering Celecoxib were 30, 20, 20, and 15 wk respectively. On the 51st week, the animals were sacrificed for histological examination. Local PCNA expression was examined by the immunohistochemistry method. The expression of COX-2 protein was assessed by Western Blot. Analysis used the 2 test. The difference was regarded as significant when P value was less than 0.05. RESULTS： Seventeen percent （17/100） of H pyloriinfected MGs developed gastric cancer. All of these lesions were well-differentiated adenocarcinoma. The incidence rates of adenocarcinoma in groups A-F were 40%, 0%, 0%, 20%, 25%, and 0% respectively. The inflammatory scores were higher in group B than in other groups. There was no inflammatory response noted in group F. Celecoxib treatment resulted in a significant reduction in the proliferation of H pyloriinfected mucosal cells （groups B, C and D）（P 〈 0.01）. The expression of COX-2 protein was significantly attenuated in the groups which were Celecoxib-treated for more than 20 wk （groups B, C, D）. The groups treated with Celecoxib had a significantly lower rate of advanced gastric cancer （34% vs 75%, P 〈 0.001） There were no sudden deaths in any of the groups. Fungi are an essential component of the *** play an integral role in the decomposition of leaf litter and return nutrients to the ecosystem through nutrient *** are considered as the“key players”in leaf litter decomposition,because of their ability to produce a wide range of extracellular ***-related changes of fungal communities during leaf litter decomposition have been relatively ***,it has not been established how the tree species,tree phylogeny,and leaf litter chemistry influence fungal communities during *** direct observations and a culturing approach,this study compiles fungi found in freshly collected leaf litter from five phylogenetically related,native tree species in Taiwan:Celtis formosana(CF),Ficus ampelas(FA),Ficus septica(FS),Macaranga tanarius(MT),and Morus australis(MA).We investigated(i)the effects of tree species(including tree phylogeny)and leaf litter chemistry on fungal community succession,and(ii)specific patterns of fungal succession(including diversity and taxonomic community assembly)on decomposing leaf litter across the selected tree *** hypothesized that host species and leaf litter chemistry significantly affect fungal community succession.A total of 1325 leaves(CF:275,FA:275,FS:275,MT:275 and MA:225)were collected and 236 fungal taxa were recorded(CF:48,FA:46,FS:64,MT:42 and MA:36).Tree species relationships had variable associations on the fungal communities,as even closely related tree species had strongly differing communities during decomposition.A high number of species were unique to a single tree species and may indicate‘host-specificity’to a particular leaf *** overlap of microfungal species in pair wise comparisons of tree species was low(7–16%),and only 1–2%of microfungal species were observed in leaves of all tree *** percentage of occurrences of fungal communities using Hierarchical Cluster Analyses(HCA)showed that there were at least f

The basic concept of Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) is short packet transmission and transient connection. It can quickly establish a connection, send data, and quickly disconnect, so that neighbor discovery is frequent and becomes an important issue. In the neighbor discovery which includes advertising and scanning, the BLE specification defines several important parameters. The parameters on the advertiser side include advertising interval, advertising duration, etc. On the scanner side, there are scan interval, scan window, etc. How to configure these parameters for quick neighbor discovery has been troublesome for BLE implementers. Prior analyses on BLE discovery process also showed some disagreements or made some incorrect assumptions. In this paper, we use rigorous probability-theory based derivations to obtain different kinds of successful discovery probabilities. We clarify disagreements in prior works and also provide insights on how to configure parameters for maximizing discovery probability. In particular, we prove that the discovery probabilities on each of the three channels are correlated. We also find that, when the advertising duration is set close to some multiples of the scan interval, an ill-fated synchronization problem will occur. To have a high discovery probability, both scan window and scan interval should be set at a large value, though it might not be good for energy saving.

According to the principle of electromagnetism and hydrodynamics, a mathematical model of flow field for metallic fluid acted by electromagnetic and centrifugal forces was established. The calculation results showed that the relative velocity between metallic fluid layers rises and the absolute rotational velocity of metallic fluid falls with the increase of magnetic induction intensity. The increase of centrifugal revolution hardly affects the relative velocity between metallic fluid layers, but can enhance the absolute rotational velocity of metallic fluid.
