A pulse-discharge helium ionization detector（Valco, PD-D3-I） was used to measure xenon concentration in air. The dependences of the detector relative response on various gas chromatograph parameters were investigated. Based on the well prepared gas connections for the detector system and optimized gas chromatography（GC） working conditions, the atmospheric xenon concentration could be measured by the cheap GC method with a detection level of 0.7×10-9（parts by volume）. Moreover, the xenon concentration in the ground level air around our laboratory was measured with the result of 0.085×10-6（parts by volume） and RSD of 0.91%.

Although high temperatures influence gut health,data on underlying mechanisms remains *** a pig model,this study performed a global analysis on how chronic heat stress affects the transport and immune function of the gut through transcriptome,proteome,microbial diversity and flow cytometry.A total of 27 pigs with similar body weights were assigned into 3 groups,control(Con)group(23℃),chronic heat stressed(HS)group(33°C),and pair-fed(PF)group,in a controlled environment for 21 *** results showed that pigs in the HS group had reduced growth performance and diminished height of ileal villi(P<0.01).Transcriptome and proteome analyses demonstrated notable modification of expression of nutrients and ion transport-related transporters and gut mechanical barrier-related genes by chronic heart stress(P<0.05),suggesting damage of transport functions and the gut *** heat stress-induced endoplasmic reticulum stress also increased the synthesis of misfolded proteins,leading to upregulation of misfolded protein degradation and synthesis,as well as vesicle transport disorder(P<0.05).Energy supply processes were enhanced in the mitochondrion(P<0.05)to maintain biological processes with high energy ***,chronic heat stress activated complement cascade response-related genes and proteins in the gut mucosa(P<0.05).Our flow cytometry assays showed that the proportion of gut lymphocytes(CD4^(+)T cells,T cells,B cells in Peyer’s patch lymphocytes and CD4^(+)CD25^(+)T cells in intraepithelial lymphocytes)were significantly altered in the HS group pigs(P<0.05).In addition,the occurrence of gut microbial dysbiosis in the HS group pigs was characterized by increased potential pathogens(e.g.,Asteroleplasma,Shuttleworthia,Mycoplasma)and suppression of beneficial bacteria(e.g.,Coprococcus and Aeriscardovia),which are associated with gut immune ***,our data demonstrated that chronic heat stress induced gut transport and immune function diso

A bi-disperse granular gas in an asymmetrical two-compartment system is studied experimentally. The presence of asymmetry within the range of our experimental parameters results in a directed segregated state and a directed clustering state. This deterministic system does not depend on the initial conditions. A modified flux model based on Lohse＇s flux model for bi-disperse granular gases is derived. The modified flux model explains qualitatively the experimental results.

Coronaviruses are enveloped viruses that cause different diseases in humans and animals （Suet al., 2016）. Murine hepatitis virus （MHV） causes hepatitis, enteritis and central nervous system diseases in rodents and is one of the best- studied coronaviruses. MHV belongs to the genera betacoronavirus. Members from the same genera also include highly pathogenic coronaviruses such as the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus （SARS-CoV） and the Middle-East respiratory syndrome coronavirus （MERS-CoV）（Vijay and Perlman, 2016）.

DEAR EDITOR,Gap junctions regulate intercellular communication between Sertoli cells and germ cells in male testes and play vital functions in *** factors in animal breeding and husbandry can induce oxidative stress,which can impair the testis microenvironment and male animal ***,the underlying mechanisms are largely ***,we identified that androgen signals promote the expression of connexin-43(Cx43),a key component of gap junctions,to regulate ***,we asked whether hyperactive reactive oxygen species(ROS)can impair gap junctions by interfering with Cx43 in porcine *** a porcine Sertoli cell in vitro system,we found that hyperactive ROS caused extensive apoptosis in Sertoli cells,remarkable decrease in Cx43 expression,and failed maintenance of co-cultured spermatogonial stem cells(SSCs),indicating that ROS impaired the function of Sertoli cells and promoted loss of *** observation provides a possible mechanism for the impact of ROS on fertility of male animals.

The reflection of X-band microwaves （8-12 GHz） from a metallic aluminum （A1） surface with groove grating corrugations was investigated experimentally. It was shown that the reflection of p-polarization is much less than the microwave reflected from the corresponding area of an unruled Al surface, with selective wavelength. The experimental results demonstrated that the anomalous microwave reflection is strongly associated with the excitation of spoof surface plasmons at the Al air interface by the surface grating coupler. This near-total absence of reflected microwaves is similar to the famous Wood＇s anomaly in the optical regime and is of fundamental importance to the applications of spoof surface plasmons in the microwave regime.

Local surface plasmon resonances（LSPRs） of silver-dielectric-silver multi-layered（SDS-ML） nanotubes are studied by theoretical calculations. Based on quasi-static approximation, the absorption cross section of SDS-ML nanotubes is plotted as a function of wavelength. The results show that SDS-ML nanotubes exhibit strong coupling between the cylindrical silver and nanotubes. The absorption spectra of LSPRs are strongly influenced by changing the radius of the inner core and outer nanotube shell. The longer wavelength is red-shifted by increasing the radius of the inner core and outer shell, while the short wavelength shows the opposite *** phenomena are explained by the plasmon hybridization theory. In addition, for clarity, the distributions of electric field intensity at their plasmon resonance wavelengths are also studied.

In Lagrangian formulation, it is extremely difficult to compute the excited spectrum and wavefunctions ora quantum theory via Monte Carlo methods. Recently, we developed a Monte Carlo Hamiltonian method for investigating this hard problem and tested the algorithm in quantum-mechanical systems in 1+1 and 2t1 dimensions. In this paper we apply it to the study of thelow-energy quantum physics of the (3+1)-dimensional harmonic oscillator.
