Anti-embolic effect of Taorenchengqi Tang in rats with embolic stroke induced by occluding middle cerebral artery

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the anti-embolic effect of Taorenchengqi Tang(TRCQT), a formulas from Traditional Chinese Medicine, plus aspirin in rats with embolic stroke induced by selective occlusion of the middle cerebral artery(MCA). Possible side effects of hemorrhagic incident and other bleeding events and anti-platelet effect were also ***: Ninety rats were randomly separatedinto 9 groups(n = 10): group 1 a sham-operated group(n = 10); groups 2 and 3 orally treated with an isovolumetric solvent(distilled water) for 1 and3 months, followed by thromboembolic occlusion(n = 10); groups 4 and 5 orally treated with aspirin(5 mg/kg) alone for 1 and 3 months, followed by thromboembolic occlusion(n = 10); groups 6 and 7orally treated with TRCQT(0.5 g/kg) alone for 1 and3 months, followed by thromboembolic occlusion(n = 10); groups 8 and 9 orally treated with TRCQT plus aspirin for 1 and 3 months, respectively followed by thromboembolic occlusion(n = 10). The ischemic stroke in rats was induced by selective MCA occlusion. One was orally administered. After the treatments, rats' brains were removed, sectioned and stained with triphenyltetrazolium chloride(TTC) for infarct volume measurement. The incidence of subarachnoid hemorrhage(SAH) and intracerebral hemorrhage(ICH) were observed. A potential gastric bleeding side effect was assessed by measuring hemoglobin(Hb), and prothrombin time(PT). Collagen-induced platelet activation and tail vein bleeding time were ***: Treatment with TRCQT alone or in combination with aspirin reduced infarct volume for 1(P < 0.05), and 3(P < 0.01) months without SAH and ICH incidences, and gastric bleeding. TRCQT treatment for 1 month was also not altered PT. Moreover, a concentration dependent inhibition of collagen-induced platelet activation, followed by increasing of tail vein bleeding time was observed after TRCQT ***: Either TRCQT alone or TRCQT plus aspirin exhibits potent neuroprotective effect

Reversible ischemia on treadmill exercise in left main coronary artery vasospasm

Coronary vasospasm of the left main coronary artery （LMCA） is a rare condition with potentially devastating consequences. We present 2 patients with LMCA vasospasm-related angina, the first being a 46-year-old woman and the second a 51-year-old woman. Both of them developed ST-segment ischemic changes on treadmill exercise tests. Coronary angiography showed spontaneous LMCA vasospasm in one patient and methylergonovine-induced LMCA vasospasm in the other patient. Follow-up treadmill exercise tests revealed no exercise-induced ischemia after calcium antagonist monotherapy. These cases demonstrate the importance of identifying LMCA vasospasm, as the treatment of choice varies in patients with angina pectoris. Reversible myocardial ischemia caused by LMCA vasospastic angina can be controlled by calcium antagonist monotherapy and detected by repeat non-invasive stress testing.

Optimal Shape Factor and Fictitious Radius in the MQ-RBF:Solving Ill-Posed Laplacian Problems

To solve the Laplacian problems,we adopt a meshless method with the multiquadric radial basis function(MQRBF)as a basis whose center is distributed inside a circle with a fictitious radius.A maximal projection technique is developed to identify the optimal shape factor and fictitious radius by minimizing a merit function.A sample function is interpolated by theMQ-RBF to provide a trial coefficient vector to compute the merit *** can quickly determine the optimal values of the parameters within a preferred rage using the golden section search *** novel method provides the optimal values of parameters and,hence,an optimal MQ-RBF;the performance of the method is validated in numerical ***,nonharmonic problems are transformed to the Poisson equation endowed with a homogeneous boundary condition;this can overcome the problem of these problems being *** optimal MQ-RBF is extremely *** further propose a novel optimal polynomial method to solve the nonharmonic problems,which achieves high precision up to an order of 10^(−11).

Background and purpose To analyse the long-term risk of ischaemic stroke and the clinical effects of antithrombotics on the risk of haemorrhagic stroke in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus(SLE).Methods A retrospective cohort study was conducted using a population-based database taken from Taiwan National Health Insurance Research *** with SLE between 2000 and 2008 were registered and matched with two controls by the index date,age,gender and Charlson Comorbidity Index(CCI).These subjects were followed until either stroke event or 31 December *** HRs(aHRs)for strokes were estimated with Cox regression models,and the cumulative incidence of ischaemic stroke was analysed by log-rank test and Kaplan-Meier survival *** In total,8310 patients with SLE and 16620 patients without SLE were *** general,patients with SLE had higher rates of ischaemic stroke(5.4%vs 3.3%)and haemorrhagic stroke(1.5%vs 0.6%)than in *** multivariate analysis adjusted to age,gender,CCI,urbanisation level and antithrombotics uses,aHRs of all strokes,ischaemic stroke and haemorrhagic stroke were 1.73(95%CI:1.54 to 1.94),1.65(95%CI:1.45 to 1.87)and 2.24(95%CI:1.71 to 2.95),respectively,in patients with *** with SLE were significantly more likely to suffer ischaemic stroke than patients without SLE,even 10 years after SLE diagnosis(6.12%vs 3.50%,p<0.001).Antiplatelet use increased the risk of haemorrhagic stroke in SLE group(aHR=1.74,95%CI:1.18 to 2.57).Conclusions Patients with SLE are at greater risk of developing ischaemic stroke that lasts for 10 *** should be carefully administered to prevent cardiovascular events in patients with SLE due to the risk of haemorrhagic stroke.

Effect of heat treatment on microstructure and mechanical properties of selective laser-melted PH13-8Mo stainless steel

PH13-8Mo stainless steel powder with high sphericity and well fluidity was prepared by the plasma rotating electrode *** formed parts with ultra-high purity were manufactured by selective laser *** tensile and impact mechanical properties of the printed parts under three heat treatment regimes were compared to those without heat *** microstructure,grain orientation and phase composition were characterized by electron-backscatter diffraction,X-ray diffraction and transmission electron *** characterization results reveal that the addition of heat treatment makes the grains enlarge,and after different heat treatments,the average grain size from 1.51μm in the printed state increases to 2.78,3.09 and 2.06μm,*** formed parts are mainly composed of martensite and retained ***,the NiAl and M23C precipitates form,which are the major strengthening phases of PH13-8Mo stainless *** optimal heat treatment process is 925℃×1 h water cooling(WC)+0℃×2 h air cooling(AC)+540℃×4 h *** this heat treatment process,PH13-8Mo formed parts have the optimal comprehensive mechanical properties:the tensile strength,yield strength and impact energy KU2 are 1492 MPa,1432 MPa and 63 J,*** strengthening and toughening via heat treatment are mainly attributed to dislocation strengthening,the formation of NiAl and M23Co precipitates and the change of volume fraction of the retained austenite.

The DArk Matter Particle Explorer(DAMPE)is a space high-energy particle andγ-ray detector whose major scientific goals are the indirect detection of dark matter particles,the origin of cosmic rays and highenergyγ-ray *** its successful launch in December 2015,the DAMPE has been operated smoothly in orbit for more than 8 *** direct measurements of the boron-to-carbon and boron-to-oxygen flux ratios,and the proton+Helium spectrum up to 316 TeV have been obtained,revealing new spectral features with very high *** search results ofγ-ray spectral line and fractionally charged particles indicate a good potential of DAMPE for indirect dark matter detection and new physical discovery in *** DAMPE measurements are expected to significantly advance our understanding of the fundamental problems in astroparticle physics.
