Intrinsic pentagon defect engineering in multiple spatial-scale carbon frameworks for efficient triiodide reduction

Intrinsic topological defect engineering has been proven as a promising strategy to elevate the electrocatalytic activity of carbon ***,the controllable construction of high-density and specific topological defects in carbon frameworks to reveal the relationship between reactivity and defect structure remains a challenging ***,the intrinsic pentagon carbon sites that can favor electron overflow and enhance their binding affinity towards the intermediates of catalytic reaction are firstly presented by the work function and the p-band center *** experimentally verify this,the cage-opening reaction of fullerene is proposed and utilized for synthesizing carbon quantum dots with specific pentagon configuration(CQDs-P),subsequently utilizing CQDs-P to modulate the micro-scale defect density of three-dimensional reduced graphene oxide(rGO)viaπ-π*** multiple spatial-scale rGO-conjugated CQDs-P structure simultaneously possesses abundant pentagon and edge defects as catalytic active sites and long-range-orderedπelectron delocalization system as conductive *** defects-rich CQDs-P/rGO-4 all-carbon-based catalyst exhibits superb catalytic activity for triiodide reduction reaction with a high photoelectric conversion efficiency of 8.40%,superior to the Pt reference(7.97%).Theoretical calculations suggest that pentagon defects in the carbon frameworks can promote charge transfer and modulate the adsorption/dissociation behavior of the reaction intermediates,thus enhancing the electrocatalytic activity of the *** work confirms the role of intrinsic pentagon defects in catalytic reactions and provides a new insight into the synthesis of defects-rich carbon catalysts.

A toroidal SAW gyroscope with focused IDTs for sensitivity enhancement

A surface acoustic wave(SAW)gyroscope measures the rate of rotational angular velocity by exploiting a phenomenon known as the SAW gyroscope *** a gyroscope is a great candidate for application in harsh environments because of the simplification of the suspension vibration mechanism necessary for traditional microelectromechanical system(MEMS)***,for the first time,we propose a novel toroidal standing-wave-mode SAW gyroscope using focused interdigitated transducers(FIDTs).Unlike traditional SAW gyroscopes that use linear IDTs to generate surface acoustic waves,which cause beam deflection and result in energy dissipation,this study uses FIDTs to concentrate the SAW energy based on structural features,resulting in better focusing performance and increased SAW *** experimental results reveal that the sensitivity of the structure is 1.51.V/(°/s),and the bias instability is 0.77°/s,which are improved by an order of magnitude compared to those of a traditional SAW ***,the FIDT component can enhance the performance of the SAW gyroscope,demonstrating its superiority for angular velocity *** work provides new insights into improving the sensitivity and performance of SAW gyroscopes.

Dear Editor,This letter studies the input-to-state stability(ISS)for a class of impulsive switched systems,where uncertain impulse-switching moments are *** robustness of ISS with respect to the perturbations of the occurrence time of impulse-switching moments is revealed by several less conservative dwell-time conditions for the uncertain impulse-switching moments combined with Lyapunov ***,the Lyapunov conditions have multiple coefficients at discrete time so as to handle the hybrid effect of impulse-switching moments,and the case that time derivative of Lyapunov function is indefinite is also taken into ***,a numerical example is proposed to illustrate the effectiveness of the theoretical results.

Generalized polynomial chaos expansion by reanalysis using static condensation based on substructuring

This paper presents a new computational method for forward uncertainty quantification(UQ)analyses on large-scale structural systems in the presence of arbitrary and dependent random *** method consists of a generalized polynomial chaos expansion(GPCE)for statistical moment and reliability analyses associated with the stochastic output and a static reanalysis method to generate the input-output data *** the reanalysis,we employ substructuring for a structure to isolate its local regions that vary due to random *** allows for avoiding repeated computations of invariant substructures while generating the input-output data *** substructuring with static condensation further improves the computational efficiency of the reanalysis without losing ***,the GPCE with the static reanalysis method can achieve significant computational saving,thus mitigating the curse of dimensionality to some degree for UQ under high-dimensional *** numerical results obtained from a simple structure indicate that the proposed method for UQ produces accurate solutions more efficiently than the GPCE using full finite element analyses(FEAs).We also demonstrate the efficiency and scalability of the proposed method by executing UQ for a large-scale wing-box structure under ten-dimensional(all-dependent)random inputs.

The dynamic kinetic asymmetric transformation of racemic propargylic ammonium salts with prochiral aldimine esters through a stereodivergent propargylation is catalyzed by dual nickel and copper ***,a diverse range of optically activeα-quaternary amino esters were produced via C-N bond cleavage with high reaction efficiency and stereoselectivity(up to>99%ee).By selection of the appropriate pair-wise combination of catalyst configurational isomers,all four possible stereoisomers of the corresponding propargylation products are obtained in high yields with excellent regio-,diastereo-,and enantioselectiv-ities.

Safety-Constrained Multi-Agent Reinforcement Learning for Power Quality Control in Distributed Renewable Energy Networks

This paper examines the difficulties of managing distributed power systems,notably due to the increasing use of renewable energy sources,and focuses on voltage control challenges exacerbated by their variable nature in modern power *** tackle the unique challenges of voltage control in distributed renewable energy networks,researchers are increasingly turning towards multi-agent reinforcement learning(MARL).However,MARL raises safety concerns due to the unpredictability in agent actions during their exploration *** unpredictability can lead to unsafe control *** mitigate these safety concerns in MARL-based voltage control,our study introduces a novel approach:Safety-ConstrainedMulti-Agent Reinforcement Learning(SC-MARL).This approach incorporates a specialized safety constraint module specifically designed for voltage control within the MARL *** module ensures that the MARL agents carry out voltage control actions *** experiments demonstrate that,in the 33-buses,1.1.buses,and 322-buses power systems,employing SC-MARL for voltage control resulted in a reduction of the Voltage Out of Control Rate(%***)from0.43,0.24,and 2.95 to 0,0.01.and 0.03,***,the Reactive Power Loss(Q loss)decreased from 0.095,0.547,and 0.01. to 0.062,0.452,and 0.01. in the corresponding systems.

Abnormal State Detection in Lithium-ion Battery Using Dynamic Frequency Memory and Correlation Attention LSTM Autoencoder

This paper addresses the challenge of identifying abnormal states in Lithium-ion Battery(LiB)time series *** the energy sector increasingly focuses on integrating distributed energy resources,Virtual Power Plants(VPP)have become a vital new framework for energy *** are key in this context,owing to their high-efficiency energy storage capabilities essential for VPP ***,LiBs are prone to various abnormal states like overcharging,over-discharging,and internal short circuits,which impede power transmission *** methods for detecting such abnormalities in LiB are too broad and lack precision for the dynamic and irregular nature of LiB *** response,we introduce an innovative method:a Long Short-Term Memory(LSTM)autoencoder based on Dynamic Frequency Memory and Correlation Attention(DFMCA-LSTM-AE).This unsupervised,end-to-end approach is specifically designed for dynamically monitoring abnormal states in LiB *** method starts with a Dynamic Frequency Fourier Transform module,which dynamically captures the frequency characteristics of time series data across three scales,incorporating a memory mechanism to reduce overgeneralization of abnormal *** is followed by integrating LSTM into both the encoder and decoder,enabling the model to effectively encode and decode the temporal relationships in the time *** tests on a real-world LiB dataset demonstrate that DFMCA-LSTM-AE outperforms existing models,achieving an average Area Under the Curve(AUC)of 90.73%and an F1.score of 83.83%.These results mark significant improvements over existing models,ranging from 2.4%–45.3%for AUC and 1.6%–28.9%for F1.score,showcasing the model’s enhanced accuracy and reliability in detecting abnormal states in LiB data.
