Simvastatin, a BCS class II drug, is associated with poor aqueous solubility, first-pass metabolism and short half-life. In the present work, nanoparticles were prepared and evaluated. Optimization of formulation and process parameters was done through the use of independent and dependent variables. Preliminary studies were done to determine suitable range of the concentration of Eudragit polymer (10%–30%) and the ratio of drug to polymer (1:1 to 1:5) for the formation of nanoparticles by emulsification and a solvent evaporation technique. Results revealed that the mean size of nanoparticles was affected by stirring speed from 5000 RPM, 8000 RPM, and 12000 RPM. The results of increase in association efficiency and percent yield with increase in amount of drug from 100 mg, 150 mg, and 200 mg in selected range were observed. In-vitro release studies showed that two formulations possess highest initial burst and slow sustained drug release. There was 2.93-fold decrease in total cholesterol and 3.27-fold increases in triglyceride level during in-vivo study.

We report here high-pressure investigations on Piplia kalan eucrite-a member of HED （Howardite -Eucrite-Diogenite） family from asteroid 4-Vesta based on synchrotron X-ray diffraction （up to 16 GPa） and ^57Fe Mossbauer spectroscopy （up to 8 GPa）. Dominant with anorthite-rich plagioclase, pigeonite-rich pyroxene and clino-ferrosilite, the sample displayed various phase transitions attaining amorphous character at 16 GPa. These phase transitions of individual components could be explained simultaneously through variations in high-pressure XRD patterns and the Mossbauer parameters. Most prominent P21/c to C2/c transition of pigeonite and ferrosilite was exhibited both as sudden variation in Mossbauer parameters and population inversion of Fe^2＋ in M1 and M2 sites between 2.9 and 3.8 GPa and variation in intensity profile in XRD patterns at 3.56 GPa. Anorthite seemed to respond more to such impact than other components in the sample. Complete amorphization in anorthite which occurred at lower pressure of - 12 GPa implied residual stress experienced due to shock impact. The presence of high pressure （monoclinic） phase of pigeonite and ferrosilite at ambient condition in this eucrite sample confirmed earlier suggestions of an early shock event. This report is an attempt to emphasize the role of anorthite in the determination of the residual stress due to impact process in the parent body thus to understand the behavioral differences amongst HED members.

Using long-term optical, ultraviolet(UV) and X-ray data, we present a study of a classical T Tauri star CV Cha. The V-band light curve obtained from the All Sky Automated Survey(ASAS) shows short as well as long-term variability. The short-term variability could be due to rotational modulation of CV Cha. We derive the rotational period of 3.714 ± 0.001 d for CV Cha. UV light curves obtained from Swift also show the variations. X-ray light curves from XMM-Newton and Swift do not show any significant short as well as long-term variability. However, the light curve from chandra appears to be variable, which could be due to the emergence of flaring activities. X-ray spectra from all observations are explained well by the single temperature plasma of 0.95 keV with X-ray luminosity of 1030.4erg s-1in the 0.5–7.5 keV energy band. It appears that variability in optical and UV bands could be due to the presence of both hot and cool spots on the surface, while X-ray emission is dominated by magnetic processes.

In the present study,the multi-temporal satellite images of IRS P6 LISS III were used to map waterlogging dynamics over different *** area of 594.36 km2(6.75%)and 4.17 km^(2)(0.04%)was affected by surface waterlogging during pre and postmonsoon season,*** average annual groundwater level fluctuations were calculated using 18 years(1990-2007)pre and postmonsoon groundwater level data to identify the areas which are under groundwater induced waterlogging *** soil map clearly indicates that salinity and sodicity exhibit the highest severity and occur in areas with shallow groundwater *** hydrogeomorphical units mapped using IRS P6 LISS III satellite images are flood plain,alluvial plain,paleochannels,and oxbow *** study revealed that 44.65%areas have very good to excellent groundwater *** litholog data clearly indicate an alternating sequence of clay and sand in which deep aquifers made up of coarse sand would be best suited for adequate water supply and good groundwater *** integrated study utilizing digital spatial data pertaining to waterlogging,soil salinity,water level fluctuation,and lithological variation proved that planning of any surface and subsurface water resources development activity should be taken up after assessments of said parameters.

Patients with Cirrhosis of Liver Operated for Non-transplant Surgery: A Retrospective Analysis

Heart failure(HF) following liver transplant(LT) surgery is a distinct clinical entity with high mortality. It is known to occur in absence of obvious risk factors. No preoperative workup including electrocardiogram, echocardiography at rest and on stress, reasonably prognosticates the risk. In patients of chronic liver disease, cirrhotic cardiomyopathy, alcoholic cardiomyopathy, and stress induced cardiomyopathy have each been implicated as a cause for HF after LT. However distinguishing one etiology from another not only is difficult, several etiologies may possibly coexist in a given patient. Diagnostic dilemma is further compounded by the fact that presentation and management of HF irrespective of the possible underlying cause, remains the same. In this case series, 6 cases are presented and in the light of existing literature modification in the preoperative workup are suggested.
