Vertically aligned one-dimensional ZnO/V2O5 core-shell hetero-nanostructure for photoelectrochemical water splitting

The vertically aligned one-dimensional(1 D)core-shell structure can maximize the exposure and use of the functionally active surface while maintaining the geometric effects caused by the underlying ***,we have fabricated 1 D vertically aligned ZnO/V2O5 core-shell hetero-nanostructure nanorod arrays(NRs)for photoelectrochemical(PEC)water ***/V2O5 NRs were prepared through the hydrothermal growing of ZnO NRs and then radio frequency(RF)magnetron sputtering deposition of V2O5 for 300,600 and 900 *** photocurrent density of ZnO/V2O5-based photoanodes was gradually increased with the sputtering time,reaching the maximum value of 1.21 m A/cm^2 at 1.23 V *** hydrogen electrode(RHE)for ZnO/V2O5-600,whereas for pure ZnO-based photoanode was 0.42 mA/cm^*** incident photon to electron conversion efficiency(IPCE)of ZnO/V2O5-600 evaluated to be 82.3%which was 2.3 times higher than that of ZnO(36.4%).The improved PEC performance of ZnO/V2O5-600 is because the core-shell structure with a moderate thickness of the V2O5 layer has the extremely high carrier density,largest electrochemically active surface area(ECSA),largest carrier density,lowest charge recombination rate,and the longest lifetime of e-h pairs due to the formation of the staggered gap *** study provides an effective way to design and fabrication of hetero-nanostructures for highefficiency photoelectrodes.

The Covid-19 pandemic has severely affected various aspects of life,and its compounding and cascading impacts have been observed in most industries and *** oil and gas(O&G)industry was among the first to experience the impacts as the pandemic began due to the global economic recession and a sharp decline in demand for *** pandemic revealed major risk management and business continuity challenges and uncovered some of the vulnerabilities of the O&G industry and its major companies during a prolonged global *** and understanding how the Covid-19 pandemic impacted the O&G sector in different countries,considering their unique circumstances,can provide important lessons for managing the current and future similar *** study investigated various impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on the O&G industry using Iran's Pars Oil and Gas Company(POGC)as a case *** were collected through indepth interviews with key managers of the *** methods,specifically thematic analysis,were used to analyze the *** of this study provide further insights into how the pandemic impacted the operations,risks,and business continuity of the *** results show that the pandemic caused significant operational,financial,and legal impacts by disrupting routine maintenance,reducing the availability of human resources under the public health measures and mobility restrictions,increasing processing and delivery times,increasing costs and decreasing revenues,and delaying contractual obligations.

The deposition of tetrakis(4-sulonatophenyl)porphyrin(TPPS)thin film on optical fibers presents many possibilities for sensing *** j-form aggregation with a narrow and sharp spectral feature at about 490nm and its sensitivity to humidity have been discussed;a fast change of wavelength occurs according with variation in the humidity *** reproducibility and high sensitivity of TPPS-coated fibers,along with the capabilities of optical fibers,suggest the device as a good candidate for humidity sensing in harsh environments.

This article discusses the synchronization problem of singular neutral complex dynamical networks(SNCDN)with distributed delay and Markovian jump parameters via pinning *** control strategies are designed to make the singular neutral complex networks *** delay-dependent synchronization criteria are derived in the form of linear matrix inequalities based on a modified Lyapunov-Krasovskii functional *** applying the Lyapunov stability theory,jensen's inequality,Schur complement,and linear matrix inequality technique,some new delay-dependent conditions are derived to guarantee the stability of the ***,numerical examples are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the obtained results.

Clinical epidemiology and disease burden of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD) is defined as the presence of hepatic fat accumulation after the exclusion of other causes of hepatic steatosis, including other causes of liver disease, excessive alcohol consumption, and other conditions that may lead to hepatic steatosis. NAFLD encompasses a broad clinical spectrum ranging from nonalcoholic fatty liver to nonalcoholic steatohepatitis(NASH), advanced fibrosis, cirrhosis, and finally hepatocellular carcinoma(HCC). NAFLD is the most common liver disease in the world and NASH may soon become the most common indication for liver transplantation. Ongoing persistence of obesity with increasing rate of diabetes will increase the prevalence of NAFLD, and as this population ages, many will develop cirrhosis and end-stage liver disease. There has been a general increase in the prevalence of NAFLD, with Asia leading the rise, yet the United States is following closely behind with a rising prevalence from 15% in 2005 to 25% within 5 years. NAFLD is commonly associated with metabolic comorbidities, including obesity, type Ⅱ diabetes, dyslipidemia, and metabolic syndrome. Our understanding of the pathophysiology of NAFLD is constantly evolving. Based on NAFLD subtypes, it has the potential to progress into advanced fibrosis, end-stage liver disease and HCC. The increasing prevalence of NAFLD with advanced fibrosis, is concerning because patients appear toexperience higher liver-related and non-liver-related mortality than the general population. The increased morbidity and mortality, healthcare costs and declining health related quality of life associated with NAFLD makes it a formidable disease, and one that requires more in-depth analysis.

Dear editor,Family physicians often serve as the primary resource for parents seeking medical treatment for their children,and it is not uncommon for children with medical emergencies to be brought into primary care offices instead of local emergency departments(EDs).Although estimated incidence rates of pediatric emergencies in primary care offices vary based on the definition used,the number of patients seen,and clinic location,[1-3]any healthcare provider who sees pediatric patients should be ready for immediate medical intervention to minimize adverse outcomes.[4,5]Various studies in the USA have shown that outpatient offices are not adequately prepared for pediatric emergencies,whether that is defined as stocking recommended equipment,having policies for the transport of patients to EDs,engaging in mock codes,or being certified in Advanced Pediatric Life Support(APLS)or Basic Life Support(BLS).[1-3]This deficit in preparedness exists despite the presence of multiple nation-and state-wide guidelines on the subject,including a policy by the American Academy of Pediatrics.[3]Limited information exists on the preparedness of primary care physicians for pediatric emergencies in other nations.

Zinc oxide nanoparticles:A highly efficient and readily recyclable catalyst for the synthesis of xanthenes

A novel and efficient route for the synthesis of 1,8-dioxooctahydroxanthenes and 14-aryl-14H-dibenzo[a,j]xanthenes is described through one-pot multi-component reaction of dimedone and 2-naphthol with various aryl aldehydes using ZnO nanoparticles under solvent-free conditions. This method provides a novel and improved pathway for the synthesis of xanthenes in the terms of excellent yields, short reaction times, reusability and low catalyst loading.

Effect of testosterone on morphine withdrawal syndrome in rats

Aim： To determine whether testosterone is involved in morphine withdrawal syndrome （WS）. Methods： In order to induce dependency, rats were treated with subcutaneous injection of morphine （days 1-2, 5 mg/kg; days 3-5, 7.5 mg/kg; days 6-8, 10 mg/kg）, and after the last dose of morphine （day 8） WS was induced by intraperitoneal injection of naloxone （1 mg/kg）. Wet dog shake （WDS）, abdomen writhing （AW）, and jumps （j） were recorded as indicators of WS. Results： The severity of WDS, AW, and j in male rats was greater than that in females. Accordingly, in 4-week castrated and flutamide-treated （10 mg/kg/day for 8 days, i.p.） male rats, WDS, AW, and j were significantly decreased compared to male control rats. Testosterone replacement therapy （10 mg/kg/day for 8 days, i.m.） in 4-week castrated rats restored the severity of WDS, AW, and j behaviors to the level of non-castrated male rats, whereas testosterone potentiated the WDS behavior in non-castrated male rats. Conclusion： It can be concluded that testosterone might be effectively involved in morphine WS.
