Small and Medium Enterprises and Global Risks: Evidence from Manufacturing SMEs in Turkey

This study investigated how small and medium enterprises(SMEs) in a country perceive major global risks. The aim was to explore how country attributes and circumstances affect SME assessments of the likelihood,impacts, and rankings of global risks, and to find out if SME risk assessment and rankings differ from the global rankings. Data were gathered using an online survey of manufacturing SMEs in Turkey. The results show that global economic risks and geopolitical risks are of major concern for SMEs, and environmental risks are at the bottom of their ranking. Among the economic risks, fiscal crises in key economies and high structural unemployment or underemployment were found to be the highest risks for the SMEs. Failure of regional or global governance, failure of national governance, and interstate conflict with regional consequences were found to be among the top geopolitical risks for the SMEs. The SMEs considered the risk of largescale cyber-attacks and massive incident of data fraud/theft to be relatively higher than other global technological *** social instability and failure of urban planning were among the top societal risks for the SMEs. Although the global environmental and disaster risks were ranked lowest on the list, man-made environmental damage and disasters and major natural hazard-induced disasters were ranked the highest among this group of risks. Overall, the results show that SMEs at a country level, for example Turkey, perceive global risks differently than the major global players.

Phase diagrams of spin-3/2 Ising model in the presence of random crystal field within the effective field theory based on two approximations

The bimodal random crystal field （A） effects are investigated on the phase diagrams of spin-3/2 Ising model by using the effective-field theory with correlations based on two approximations： the general van der Waerden identity and the approximated van der Waerden identity. In our approach, the crystal field is either turned on or turned off randomly for a given probability p or q = 1 -p, respectively. Then the phase diagrams are constructed on the （A,kT/j） and （p,kT/j） planes for given p and A, respectively, when the coordination number is z = 3. Furthermore, the effect of randomization of the crystal field is illustrated on the （△,kT/j） plane for p = 0.5 when z - 3,4, and 6. All these are carried out for both approximations and then the results are compared to point out the differences. In addition to the lines of second-order phase transitions, the model also exhibits first-order phase transitions and the lines of which terminate at the isolated critical points for high p values.

An Empirical Study of Iraq’s Export Function

The thesis aims to establish an export function on Iraq’s export trade and provide some political suggestions to economic reconstruction of Iraq. In my study, I try to find out the relationship between the influencing factors and the Iraq’s export trade. The study is limited to the internal and external factors which affect Iraq’s export trade. An initial judgment will be made to identify the major factors. The paper is focus on the relationship between Iraq’s export and these key factors and tries to establish some models to simulate them. Some data tests like unit root test and johansen Cointegration test should be done to determine a relative appropriate model which can reflect the relationship correctly. Vector Autoregressive Model can be used to settle some autoregressive problem in models. After that, I plan to use the determined model to analyze and simulate the relationship between the export performance of Iraq and its influencing factors. The fitting result of determined model will decide the prediction results which will be utilized to explain the development trend of Iraq’s export. At last I hope the suggestions derived from the study can give some assistance to Iraq’s economic reconstruction.

Following the global COVID-19 pandemic,nanotechnology has been at the forefront of research efforts and enables the fast development of diagnostic tools,vaccines and antiviral treatment for this novel virus(SARS-CoV-2).In this review,we first summarize nanotechnology with regard to the detection of SARS-C oV-2,including nanoparticle-based techniques such as rapid antigen testing,and nanopore-based se quencing and sensing *** we investigate nanote chnology as it applies to the development of COVID-19 vaccines and anti-SARS-CoV-2 *** also highlight nanotechnology for the post-pandemic era,by providing tools for the battle with SARS-C oV-2 variants and for enhancing the global distribution of *** not only contributes to the management of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic but also provides platforms for the prevention,rapid diagnosis,vaccines and antiviral drugs of possible future virus outbreaks.

Land use changes profoundly affect the equilibrium of soil organic carbon(soC)sequestration and greenhouse gas *** the current global climatic changes,it is vital to understand the influence of ecological restoration and conservation management on the dynamics of soC under different land uses,especially in erosion-endangered Loess ***,we investigated changes in soc through a suit of labile fractions,namely:light fraction organic C(LFOC),heavy fraction organic C(HFOC),coarse particulate organic C(CPOC),fine particulate organic C(FPOC),and dissolved organic C(DOC),from two forests i.e.,Robinia pseudoacacia(RP)and Platycladus orientalis(PO),with different ages,in comparison with farmland(FL).The SOC and STN contents significantly increased over 42 years in the RP forest where the contents of CPOC and FPOC were significantly higher than in the ***,total SOC and its labile fractions,in the studied land use types,significantly correlated with soil CacO3,pH,and STN contents,indicating their key roles in SoC *** results reported here from different vegetation with different ages provide a better understanding of sOC and STN alterations at different stages of vegetation *** findings suggest that long-term natural vegetation restoration could be an effective approach for SoC sequestration and soil conservation on the Loess soil.

New Bi-metallic Single Source Precursors for the Deposition of Thin Films of Semiconductor Ceramics

Stable binary single source precursors （SSP） for the deposition of thin films of ceramic semiconductors of composition SnO·GeO were synthesized by close circuit chemical vapour deposition （CCCVD） method. Elemental analysis and spectroscopic techniques were used to characterize the precursors. Scanning electron microscopy （SEM） and energy dispersive spectroscopy （EDS） were employed to characterize the thin films. Resistivity measurements were conducted to show that the films are of semiconducting nature.

Petrology and geochemistry of mafic and ultramafic cumulate rocks from the eastern part of the Sabzevar ophiolite(NE Iran): Implications for their petrogenesis and tectonic setting

The Late Cretaceous Sabzevar ophiolite represents one of the largest and most complete fragments of Tethyan oceanic lithosphere in the NE *** is mainly composed of serpentinized mantle peridotites slices;nonetheless,minor tectonic slices of all crustal sequence constituents are observed in this *** crustal sequence contains a well-developed ultramafic and mafic cumulates section,comprising plagioclase-bearing wehrlite,olivine clinopyroxenite,olivine gabbronorite,gabbronorite,amphibole gabbronorite and quartz gabbronorite with adcumulate,mesocumulate,heteradcumulate and orthocumulate *** crystallization order for these rocks is olivine±chromian spinel→clinopyroxene→plagioclase→orthopyroxene→*** presence of primary magmatic amphiboles in the cumulate rocks shows that the parent magma evolved under hydrous ***,the studied rock units are characterized by low TiO2(0.18-0.57 wt.%),P2 O5(ali contents(0.12-3.04 wt.%).They indicate fractionated trends in the chondrite-normalized rare earth element(REE)plots and multi-element diagrams(spider diagrams).The general trend of the spider diagrams exhibit slight enrichment in large ion lithophile elements(LILEs)relative to high field strength elements(HFSEs)and positive anomalies in Sr,Pb and Eu and negative anomalies in Zr and Nb relative to the adjacent *** REE plots of these rocks display increasing trend from La to Sm,positive Eu anomaly(Eu/Eu*=1.06-1.54)and an almost flat pattern from medium REE(MREE)to heavy REE(HREE)region[(Gd/Yb)N=1-1.17].Moreover,clinopyroxenes from the cumulate rocks have low REE contents and show marked depletion in light REE(LREE)compared to MREE and HREE[(La/Sm)N=0.10-0.27 and(La/Yb)N=0.08-0.22].The composition of calculated melts in equilibrium with the clinopyroxenes from less evolved cumulate samples are closely similar to island arc tholeiitic(IAT)*** mineralogy,geochemical features

Let G be a weighted graph with adjacency matrix A=[aij]. An Euclidean graph associated with a molecule is defined by a weighted graph with adjacency matrix D=[dij], where for i≠j, dij is the Euclidean distance between the nuclei i and j. In this matrix dii can be taken as zero if all the nuclei are equivalent. Otherwise, one may introduce different weights for different nuclei. Balasubramanian (1995) computed the Euclidean graphs and their automorphism groups for benzene, eclipsed and staggered forms of ethane and eclipsed and staggered forms of ferrocene. This paper describes a simple method, by means of which it is possible to calculate the automorphism group of weighted graphs. We apply this method to compute the symmetry of tetraammine platinum(II) with C2v and C4v point groups.

Optimizing Region of Interest Selection for Effective Embedding in Video Steganography Based on Genetic Algorithms

With the widespread use of the internet,there is an increasing need to ensure the security and privacy of transmitted *** has led to an intensified focus on the study of video steganography,which is a technique that hides data within a video cover to avoid *** effectiveness of any steganography method depends on its ability to embed data without altering the original video’s quality while maintaining high *** paper proposes a new method to video steganography,which involves utilizing a Genetic Algorithm(GA)for identifying the Region of Interest(ROI)in the cover *** ROI is the area in the video that is the most suitable for data *** secret data is encrypted using the Advanced Encryption Standard(AES),which is a widely accepted encryption standard,before being embedded into the cover video,utilizing up to 10%of the cover *** process ensures the security and confidentiality of the embedded *** performance metrics for assessing the proposed method are the Peak Signalto-Noise Ratio(PSNR)and the encoding and decoding *** results show that the proposed method has a high embedding capacity and efficiency,with a PSNR ranging between 64 and 75 dBs,which indicates that the embedded data is almost indistinguishable from the original ***,the method can encode and decode data quickly,making it efficient for real-time applications.

Background It had been documented in many studies that pediatric coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)is characterized by low infectivity rates,low mortalities,and benign disease *** the other hand,influenza type A viruses are recognized to cause severe and fatal infections in children populations *** study is aimed to compare the clinical and laboratory characteristics of COVID-19 and H1N1 influenza *** A retrospective study comprising 107 children hospitalized at Abha Maternity and Children Hospital,Southern region of Saudi Arabia,with laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 and H1N1 influenza infections was carried out.A complete follow-up for all patients from the hospital admission until discharge or death was *** clinical data and laboratory parameters for these patients were collected from the medical records of the *** Out of the total enrolled patients,73(68.2%)were diagnosed with COVID-19,and 34(31.8%)were diagnosed with H1N1 *** median age is 12 months for COVID-19 patients and 36 months for influenza patients.A relatively higher number of patients with influenza had a fever and respiratory symptoms than COVID-19 *** contrast,gastrointestinal symptoms were observed in a higher number of COVID-19 patients than in influenza patients.A statistically significant increase in white cell counts is noted in COVID-19 but not in influenza patients(Palization between COVID-19 and influenza ***,the total intensive care unit length of stay was longer for influenza compared to COVID-19 *** A considerable number of children infected with COVID-19 and H1N1 influenza were noted and reported in this *** were no significant variations in the severity of the symptomatology and laboratory findings between the two groups of *** differences between these patients in some hospitalization facto
