Under mixed traffic conditions.prevailing on Indian roads.drivers.s.ow complex res.ons. when faced with yellow s.gnal becaus. lane as.ignment gets.dynamic in *** pres.nt s.udy analyzes.the effect of s.rrounding vehicles.on res.ons. of the drivers.while facing dilemma at *** dilemma zone definitions.hold true in cas. of homogeneous.traffic mix,a s.atis.ical analys.s.is.performed to check the cons.s.ency acros. the definitions.under mixed traffic *** s.udy s.ows.a s.gnificant difference in percentage of red light running in comparis.n to homogeneous.traffic as.reported by various.*** carrying out the res.arch,s.udy locations.are chos.n in s.ch a way to reflect divers.ty in road geometry,traffic compos.tion and s.gnal *** res.lts.deduced in this.s.udy indicate a s.rong correlation between the driver's.decis.on making choice and the effect of pres.nce of s.rrounding vehicle at the ons.t of yellow *** effect of critical time analys.s.has.been found out to be one of the parameters.other than critical dis.ance in categorizing driver's.aggres.ivenes. while facing the yellow *** the proces. of identifying the s.atis.ical s.gnificance of dilemma zone definitions.it has.been found that under heterogeneous.traffic condition,drivers.behave differently as.compared to homogenous.traffic when it comes.to dilemma *** is.obs.rved that the percentage of vehicles.cros.ing the inters.ction when faced with dilemma by violating the red light is.11.6%according to dilemma zone definition I whereas.the definition II has.yielded about 10.8%violation covering different vehicle *** above violation figures.derived bas.d on the above definition is.s.mewhat higher as.compared to homogeneous.traffic condition which is.obs.rved to be of the order of 5%-6%.

Experimental res.lts.on the thermal characteris.ics.of air-water s.ray impingement cooling of hot metallic s.rface are pres.nted and dis.us.ed in this.*** controlling input parameters.inves.igated were the combined air and water pres.ures.plate thicknes.,water flow rate,nozzle height from the target s.rface and initial temperature of the hot *** effects.of thes. input parameters.on the important thermal characteris.ics.s.ch as.heat trans.er rate,heat trans.er coefficient and wetting front movement were meas.red and *** flat plate s.mples.of mild s.eel with dimens.on 120 mm in length,120 mm breadth and thicknes. of 4 mm,6 mm,and 8mm res.ectively were *** air as.is.ed water s.ray was.found to be an effective cooling media and method to achieve very high heat trans.er rate from the *** heat trans.er rate and heat trans.er coefficients.were obtained for the les.er i.e,4 mm thick *** in the nozzle height reduced the heat trans.er efficiency of s.ray *** an inlet water pres.ure of 4 bar and air pres.ure of 3 bar,maximum cooling rates.70℃/s.and average cooling rate of 305.23℃/s.were achieved for a temperature of 850℃ of the s.eel plate.

In this.paper,a nonlinear s.rength criterion is.propos.d us.ng the average of intermediate(σ2)and minor(σ3)principal s.res.es.in place of σ3 in Ramamurthy(1994)’s.s.rength *** propos.d criterion has.the main advantages.of negligible variation of s.rength parameters.with confining s.res. and ability to link with conventional s.rength ***,a new clos.d-form s.lution bas.d on the propos.d criterion is.derived and validated for Chhibro Khodri ***,analytical s.lutions.including s.ngh’s.elas.oplas.ic theory,s.us.el’s.approach,and clos.d-form s.lutions.bas.d on conventional and modified Ramamurthy(2007)criteria are compared with the res.lts.of propos.d *** is.s.own that the in s.tu s.ueezing pres.ure predictions.made by the propos.d approach are more ***,a parametric s.udy of the pres.nt analytical s.lution is.carried out,which dis.lays.explicit dependency of tunnel s.ability on internal s.pport pres.ure and tunnel *** influence of tunnel geometry is.obs.rved to be dependent on the applied s.pport pres.ure.

Downs.ream changes.in channel morphology and flow over the ephemeral Dwarkes.ar River in the wes.ern part of the Bengal Bas.n, eas.ren India were inves.igated. The river s.retches.from the Proterozoic Granite Gneis. Complex to the recent Holocene alluvium, forming three dis.inctive geomorphological regions.acros. the river bas.n: the pediplane and upper and lower alluvial areas. s.xty cros.-s.ctions.from throughout the main trunk s.ream were s.rveyed and the bankfull width, depth, cros.-s.ctional area, and maximum depth were meas.red. s.diment s.mples.from each location were s.udied and the flow velocity, s.ream power, Manning’s.roughnes. coefficient, and s.ear s.res. were es.imated. The res.lts.s.ow that the bankfull channel cros.-s.ction area, width, width-to-depth ratio, and channel capacity increas.d between the beginning and middle of the river. Thereafter, the s.ze of the river s.arted to decreas. in the lower alluvial area. This.was.characterized by gentle gradients. cohes.ve bank materials.with gras. cover, and channel s.itching. Within the lower part of the river, the channel capacity was.obs.rved to diminis. as.the drainage area increas.d. This.increas.d the bankfull flow frequency and accelerated large floodwater los.es.in the floodplain via overbank flows.and floodways.

This.paper aims.to propos. monthly models.res.ons.ble for the theoretical evaluation of the global horizontal irradiance of a tropical region in India which is.s.vagangai s.tuated in Tamilnadu. The actual meas.red global horizontal irradiance hails.from a 5 MW s.lar power plant s.ation located at s.vagangai in Tamilnadu. The data were monitored from May 2011 to April 2013. The theoretical as.es.ment was.conducted differently by employing a programming platform called Micros.ft Vis.al Bas.c 2010 Expres.. A graphical us.r interface was.created us.ng Vis.al Bas.c 2010 Expres., which provided the evaluation of empirical parameters.for model formulation s.ch as.daily s.ns.ine duration （5）, maximum pos.ible s.ns.ine hour duration （s.）, extra terres.rial horizontal global irradiance （H0） and extra terres.rial direct normal irradiance （G0）. The propos.d regres.ion models.were validated by the s.gnificance of s.atis.ical indicators.s.ch as.mean bias.error, root mean s.uare error and mean percentage error from the predicted and the actual values.for the region cons.dered. Comparis.n was.made between the propos.d monthly models.and the exis.ing normalized models.for global horizontal irradiance evaluation.

Cold-adapted bioinoculants.are cons.dered as.harbingers.of s.s.ainable hill agriculture. Therefore, two previous.y characterized ps.chrotolerant diazotrophs. Ps.udomonas.jes.nii MP1 and Rhodococcus.qings.engii s.0107, were evaluated for their plant growthpromoting potential for chickpea (Cicer arietinum L.) grown under natural field conditions. Comparative analys.s.of agronomical and biochemical crop parameters.revealed the irrelevance of chemical fertilizers.for chickpea production;the diazotrophs.alone were s.fficient to fulfil the crop's.nutritional requirement. However, the integrated us. of bacterial s.rains.in combination with urea at 20 kg N ha^-1 as.urea was.being recommended for higher crop yield and better s.il nitrogen s.atus. Quantitative polymeras. chain reaction (qPCR) and denaturing gradient gel electrophores.s.(DGGE)-bas.d s.il bacterial dynamics.unveiled the pers.s.ence of both diazotrophs.until the end of the crop maturation period without affecting the native micro-flora. Therefore, thes. bioinoculants.can be explored as.natural nitrogen res.urce, and an additional incentive in their bio-formulation will be a s.ep towards.agricultural s.s.ainability.
