Seabed structures and foundations related to deep-sea resource development:A review based on design and research

The deep‐sea ground contains a huge amount of energy and mineral resources,for example,oil,gas,and *** infrastructures such as floating structures,seabed structures,and foundations have been developed to exploit these *** seabed structures and foundations can be mainly classified into three types:subsea production structures,offshore pipelines,and *** study reviewed the development,installation,and operation of these infrastructures,including their structures,design,installation,marine environment loads,and *** this basis,the research gaps and further research directions were explored through this literature ***,different floating structures were briefly analyzed and reviewed to introduce the design requirements of the seabed structures and ***,the subsea production structures,including subsea manifolds and their foundations,were reviewed and ***,the basic characteristics and design methods of deep‐sea pipelines,including subsea pipelines and risers,were analyzed and ***,the installation and bearing capacity of deep‐sea subsea anchors and seabed trench influence on the anchor were *** the review,it was found that marine environment conditions are the key inputs for any offshore structure *** fabrication,installation,and operation of infrastructures should carefully consider the marine loads and geological *** structures have their own mech.nical *** fatigue and stability of pipelines mainly depend on the soil‐structure *** selection should consider soil types and possible trench *** focuses and research gaps can provide a helpful guide on further research,installation,and operation of deep‐sea structures and foundations.

Organic compounds have the advantages of green sustainability and high designability,but their high solubility leads to poor durability of zinc-organic ***,a high-performance quinone-based polymer(H-PnADBQ)material is designed by introducing an intramolecular hydrogen bonding(HB)*** intramolecular HB(C=O⋯n-H)is formed in the reaction of 1,4-benzoquinone and 1,5-naphthalene diamine,which efficiently reduces the H-PnADBQ solubility and enhances its charge transfer in *** situ ultraviolet-visible analysis further reveals the insolubility of H-PnADBQ during the electrochemical cycles,enabling high durability at different current ***,the H-PnADBQ electrode with high loading(10 mg cm^(-2))performs a long cycling life at 125 mA g^(-1)(>290 cycles).The H-PnADBQ also shows high rate capability(137.1 mAh g^(−1)at 25 A g^(−1))due to significantly improved kinetics inducted by intramolecular *** work provides an efficient approach toward insoluble organic electrode materials.

Systematic and long-term technical validity of toxicity determination and early warning of heavy metal pollution based on an automatic water-toxicity-determination-system

Water toxicity determination with electrochemically active bacteria(EAB)shows promise for providing early warnings for heavy metal pollution in ***,thus far,only idealized tests with a few types of heavy metals have been *** this study,an automatic water-toxicitydetermination system with high technical maturity was established,and the toxicological properties of common heavy metals were systematically *** results demonstrated that the common heavy metals linearly inhibited EAB currents in the range of 0.1 mg/L to 0.5 mg/*** toxicity ranking of the tested heavy metals was Pb^(2+)>Tl^(3+)>Cu^(2+)>Cd^(2+)>Zn^(2+)>ni^(2+)>Hg^(2+)>As^(3+).The toxicity interaction mainly exhibited an antagonistic effect in binary heavy metal *** system can accurately determine surface water toxicity and rapidly monitor heavy metal pollution,with good repeatability and a long ***,this study demonstrates that EAB are capable of long-term(>60 d)surface water quality monitoring and on-site early warning of heavy metal pollution.

This work reports the use of defect engineering and carbon supporting to achieve metal-doped phosphides with high activities and stabilities for the hydrogen evolution reaction(HER)and the oxygen evolution reaction(OER)in alkaline ***,the nitrogen-doped carbon nanofiber-supported ni-doped CoP_(3) with rich P defects(Pv·)on the carbon cloth(p-niCoP/nCFs@CC)is synthesized through a plasma-assisted phosphorization *** p-niCoP/nCFs@CC is an efficient and stable catalyst for the HER and the *** only needs overpotentials of 107 and 306 mV to drive 100 mA cm^(-2) for the HER and the OER,*** catalytic activities are higher than those of other catalysts reported *** high activities of the p-niCoP/nCFs@CC mainly arise from its peculiar structural *** density functional theory calculation indicates that the Pv·richness,the ni doping,and the carbon supporting can optimize the adsorption of the H atoms at the catalyst surface and promote the strong electronic couplings between the carbon nanofiber-supported p-niCoP with the surface oxide layer formed during the OER *** gives the p-niCoP/nCFs@CC with the high activities for the HER and the *** used in alkaline water electrolyzers,the p-niCoP/nCFs@CC shows the superior activity and excellent stability for overall water splitting.

Background Exposure to bisphenol A(BPA),an environmental pollutant known for its endocrine-disrupting properties,during gestation has been reported to increase the risk of fetal growth restriction(FgR)in an ovine model of *** hypothesized that the FgR results from the BPA-induced insufficiency and barrier dysfunction of the placenta,oxidative stress,inflammatory responses,autophagy and endoplasmic reticulum stress(ERS).However,precise mech.nisms underlying the BPA-induced placental dysfunction,and subsequently,FgR,as well as the potential involvement of placental ERS in these complications,remain to be *** In vivo experiment,16 twin-pregnant(from d 40 to 130 of gestation)Hu ewes were randomly distributed into two groups(8 ewes each).One group served as a control and received corn oil once a day,whereas the other group received BPA(5 mg/kg/d as a subcutaneous injection).In vitro study,ovine trophoblast cells(OTCs)were exposed to 4 treatments,6 replicates *** OTCs were treated with 400μmol/L BPA,400μmol/L BPA+0.5μg/m L tunicamycin(Tm;ERS activator),400μmol/L BPA+1μmol/L 4-phenyl butyric acid(4-PBA;ERS antagonist)and DMEM/F12 complete medium(control),for 24 *** In vivo experiments,pregnant Hu ewes receiving the BPA from 40 to 130 days of pregnancy experienced a decrease in placental efficiency,progesterone(P4)level and fetal weight,and an increase in placental estrogen(E2)level,together with barrier dysfunctions,OS,inflammatory responses,autophagy and ERS in type A *** vitro experiment,the OTCs exposed to BPA for 24 h showed an increase in the E2 level and related protein and gene expressions of autophagy,ERS,pro-apoptosis and inflammatory response,and a decrease in the P4 level and the related protein and gene expressions of antioxidant,anti-apoptosis and barrier ***,treating the OTCs with Tm aggravated BPA-induced dysfunction of barrier and endocrine(the increased E2 level and decreased P4 level),OS,inflamm

Very high-energy electrons(VHEEs)are potential candidates for FLASH radiotherapy for deep-seated *** proposed a compact VHEE facility based on an X-band high-gradient high-power *** this study,we investigated and realized the first X-band backward traveling-wave(BTW)accelerating structure as the buncher for a VHEE facility.A method for calculating the parameters of single cell from the field distribution was introduced to simplify the design of the BTW ***-domain circuit equations were applied to calculate the transient beam parameters of the buncher in the unsteady state.A prototype of the BTW structure with a thermionic cathode-diode electron gun was designed,fabricated,and tested at high power at the Tsinghua X-band high-power test *** structure successfully operated with 5-MW microwave pulses from the pulse compressor and outputted electron bunches with an energy of 8 MeV and a pulsed current of 108 mA.

Effect of nucleating agents on the electrical properties of cross-linked polyethylene under tensile stress

During the operation of high-voltage cables,external stress and residual stress can affect the aggregated structure of insulating materials and lead to significant deterioration in their electrical *** investigate the evolution characteristics of the electrical properties of cross-linked polyethylene(XLPE)under mech.nical stress,this paper ex-plains the relationship between the aggregated structure of XLPE and its electrical properties and proposes a method for improving insulation performance under me-ch.nical *** results show that metallocene polyethylene used as a nucleating agent can promote crystallisation through heterogeneous nucleation and increase Young's modulus by non-uniform nucleation,increasing crystallinity and reducing interplanar spacing,resulting in more complete crystal forms and reduced damage to the aggregated structure during the tensile *** nucleating agent modification,the XLPE crystallisation becomes more uniform,and interfacial adhesion forces *** weakened interface damage process between the amorphous and crystalline regions under tensile stress effectively inhibits the process of molecular chain polarisation turning and reduces trap *** modified XLPE crystal structure shows a tendency towards densification and enhanced molecular chain interactions,which can reduce the damage to the aggregated structure under tensile stress,while the reduced free volume inside the material and the shortened average free path of carriers can weaken the damage of high-energy electrons to molecular chains,thereby inhibiting the process of electrical tree *** results show that nucleating agents have great potential for maintaining the stable operation of XLPE cables under mech.nical stress.

Synergistically enhanced dielectric, insulating and thermally conductive performances of sandwich PMMA based dielectric films

A tri-layered(B-g-B) dielectric films were simply prepared by alternatively spin-coating boron nitride/polymethylmethacrylate(Bn/PMMA, B) and graphene nanosheets(gnS/PMMA, g) compound solutions. The structure, morphology, thermal conductivity, and particularly the dielectric and relaxation behaviors were systematically studied. Results showed that a good exfoliation and dispersion of Bn and gnS can be simply achieved through intensive mech.nical compounding with PMMA in the internal mixer. The dielectric constant and breakdown strength of the obtained 1-3-1(B-g-B) sandwich composite film reached 4.3(@1 kHz) and 458.6kV/mm, being 119 % and 113 % higher than that of pure PMMA, respectively. Furthermore, the overall thermal conductivity of sandwich 1-3-1 composite increased by 112 % due to the addition of thermally conductive Bn and gnS. The sandwich design strategy provided an effective way of achieving good permittivity, high insulation, and improved thermal conductivity simultaneously, showing potential applications in the miniaturization and integration of electronic devices.
