Background:Impaired fertility in cattle limits the efficiency of livestock production *** the genetic architecture of fertility traits would facilitate their improvement by *** this study,we characterized SNP chip haplotypes at QTL blocks then used whole-genome sequencing to fine map genomic regions associated with reproduction in a population of Nellore(Bos indicus)***:The dataset comprised of 1337 heifers genotyped using a GeneSeek®Genomic Profiler panel(74677 SNPs),representing the daughters from 78 *** performing marker quality control,64800 SNPs were *** carried by each sire at six previously identified QTL on BTAs 5,14 and 18 for heifer pregnancy and BTAs 8,11 and 22 for antral follicle count were constructed using findhap *** significance of the contrasts between the effects of every two paternally-inherited haplotype alleles were used to identify sires that were heterozygous at each ***-genome sequencing data localized to the haplotypes from six sires and 20 other ancestors were used to identify sequence variants that were concordant with the haplotype *** analyses were applied to these variants using KEGG and MeSH ***:A total of six(BTA 5),six(BTA 14)and five(BTA 18)sires were heterozygous for heifer pregnancy QTL whereas six(BTA 8),fourteen(BTA 11),and five(BTA 22)sires were heterozygous for number of antral follicles’*** to inadequate representation of many haplotype alleles in the sequenced animals,fine mapping analysis could only be reliably performed for the QTL on BTA 5 and 14,which had 641 and 3733 concordant candidate sequence variants,*** KEGG“Circadian rhythm”and“Neurotrophin signaling pathway”were significantly associated with the genes in the QTL on BTA 5 whereas 32 MeSH terms were associated with the QTL on BTA *** the concordant sequence variants,0.2%and 0.3%were classified as missense variants for BTAs 5 and 14,respe

Macronutrient Composition of Giant Water Bug （Lethocerus sp.） Edible Insect in Mexico and Thailand

The health benefits of nutrients provided by edible insects are not properly studied, even though insect intake in LatinAmerican and Asia is a cultural tradition since ancient times. Insects from the giant water bug （Belostomidae family） are consumedboth in Mexico and Thailand, and are known as ＂Cucarachon de agua＂（Lethocerus americanus） and ＂Mangda＂（Lethocerus indicus）,respectively. Raw samples of these insects were collected on 2014 at Xochimilco channels from Mexico and from Warorot nightmarket in Chiang Mai, Thailand to further analyze nutrient composition of samples according to official methods of analysis （AOAC）techniques. The nutrient compositions were as following： proteins 60.12% and 53.11%; lipids 5.72% and 8.15%; minerals 5.46% and6.75%; fiber 10.95 % and 12.23%; soluble carbohydrates 17.75% and 19.74%, for insects obtained from Mexico and Thailand,respectively. Giant water bug shows differences in nutrient composition. It may be the consequence of differences in the environmentwhere they acquire the nutrients necessary for growth and reproduction. However, giant water bugs are available all year around andare a good source of proteins that could help people to obtain a cheaper source of this important macronutrient.

FAO （Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations） declared that 12% of the world＇s population is undernourished while in Mexico the number is around 5%. Minerals are essential for the daily diet; iron （Fe） is an important mineral on human welfare because it has a main role on the function of the immune and central nervous systems, among others. Most Mexicans fulfill their iron requirements from vegetables, which are poorly absorbed; nevertheless, in coastal populations, where seafood-rich in ironis available, it is not consumed on a regular diet. The aim of this work was to analyze minerals, focusing on the iron content of Octopus hubbsorum B （Cephalopoda： Octopodidae）, an animal of the Mexican Pacific coast. Three specimens were analyzed, two from the north and one from central Pacific Ocean. Data obtained for the central Pacific Octopus was 0.008% and data for the North Pacific were 0.008% and 0.011%, repectively. In conclusion, the supply of iron for the Mexican diet provided by Octopus hubbsorum B is significant, therefore is recommended to consume more of this resource, to diminish iron deficiency, a world-wide problem, and to improve human health.

Background:Ocular surface disease in glaucoma patients is a significant ocular co-morbidity that can affect 40%to 59%of these patients *** current study was aimed at evaluating the potential clinical benefit of an intense pulsed light(IPL)-based treatment in glaucomatous patients with ocular surface disease due to prolonged hypotensive eyedrop *** our knowledge,this is the first series analyzing the therapeutic effect of this treatment option in this type of ***:This non-comparative prospective case series study enrolled a total of 30 glaucoma patients ranging in age from 57 to 94 years old and treated with hypotensive eyedrops for years with dry eye *** patients received four sessions of IPL treatment using the Optima IPL system(Lumenis,Yokneam,Israel)adjusted to the official optimized Lumenis *** in symptomatology,corneal staining,conjunctival hyperemia,non-invasive break-up time(NIBUT),tear osmolarity,tear meniscus height(TMH),meiboscore and meibomian gland expressibility was analyzed after ***:Statistically significant reductions were observed after IPL treatment in the symptomatology scores measured with different questionnaires[ocular surface disease index(OSDI),standard patient evaluation of eye dryness(SPEED)and symptom assessment questionnaire in dry eye(sanDE)]as well as with the visual analogue scale(P<0.001).Mean change in OSDI was−15.0±11.3.A significant reduction was found after treatment in the corneal staining score(P<0.001).A significant reduction was found in tear film meniscus height(P=0.012),as well as in tear film osmolarity(P=0.001).A significant reduction was also found in meibomian gland expressibility(P=0.003),changing the percentage of grade 3 eyes from 44.4%before IPL to 17.2%after ***:IPL therapy combined with meibomian gland expression(MGX)seems to be an effective option to improve symptomatology in glaucomatous patients with ocular surface diseas

Chia seeds played an important role in different ethnic group＇s diet at pre-Hispanic times. Later, it was domesticated due to high demand by the population and nowadays it＇s cultivated in several states of Mexico. However, seeds are not part of the Mexican average diet. The aim of this research was to asses Chia seed＇s macronutrients and promote consumption among population to decrease malnutrition. Chia seeds were collected at Puebla State （2015） and analyzed according to AOAC [1] methods. Data obtained （g/100 g dry basis） were： proteins 18.51%; lipids 31.33%; minerals 4.45%; fiber 24.45%; soluble carbohydrates 21.38%. Chia seeds absorb water about ten times its weight, is gluten free and contain a good amount of proteins, indispensable for human life In addition, Chia seeds have a balanced amount of polyunsaturated essential lipids, which are important for brain function, minerals, fiber and soluble carbohydrates. Chia seeds are available all year and are well accepted by all social groups, therefore it could be a good option to improve human health.

Carbamazepine(CBZ),as one of the most frequently detected pharmaceuticals,is of great concern due to its potential impact on the ecosystem and human *** study provides an effective approach to remove CBZ by using photocatalyst silver phosphate combined with graphene oxide(Ag_(3)PO_(4)/GO)under visible *** morphology,composition,and optical properties of Ag_(3)PO_(4)/GO were characterized employing SEM,XRD,and *** oxide could improve the visible-light utilization and promote electron's charge to enhance the photocatalytic performance of Ag_(3)PO_(4)/*** the optimal reaction condition of 5.86 mW/cm_(2)light intensity,15-25℃ temperature,5-7 pH,and 0.5 mg/L catalytic dosages,5 mg/L CBZ could be completely degraded in 30 min,and the apparent rate constant could reach 0.12 min^(-1).Additionally,the radical trapping experiments indicated·OH and O_(2)^(-)· were the main reactive oxygen species employed to eliminate *** decay pathways of CBZ had been proposed accordingly,and the main product was the low-molecular products.
