We report the preparation of poly(3,4-ethylene dioxythiophene)(PEDOT)-modified polyvinylidene fluoride electrospun fibers and their use as a novel adsorbent material for the removal of the anionic dye Methyl Orange(MO)from aqueous *** novel adsorbent material can be used to selectively remove MO on a wide p H range(3.0-10.0),with a maximum capacity of 143.8 mg/g at p H *** used in a recirculating filtration system,the maximum absorption capacity was reached in a shorter time(20 min)than that observed for batch mode experiments(360 min).Based on the analyses of the kinetics and adsorption isotherm data,one can conclude that the predominant mechanism of interaction between the membrane and the dissolved dye molecules is ***,considering the estimated values for the gibbs energy,and entropy and enthalpy changes,it was established that the adsorption process is spontaneous and occurs in an endothermic *** good mechanical and environmental stability of these membranes allowed their use in at least 20 consecutive adsorption/desorption cycles,without significant loss of their *** suggest that the physical-chemical characteristics of PEDOT make these hybrid mats a promising adsorbent material for use in water remediation protocols and effluent treatment systems.

Comparison study between Ultra-Chopper and Divide &Conquer Techniques

Background: Hard brunescent nuclei are difficult to chop with traditional techniques, because leathery tough strands may connect the posterior surface and span across the fragments, which poses a challenge to completely divide the nuclei. The ultra-chopping technique was designed to mitigate this issue. Purpose: To compare the intraoperative parameters between Ultra-Chopper and Divide & Conquer Techniques. setting: This study was performed at Hospital Oftalmológico de Brasília, Brasília, DF, Brazil. Patients and Methods: A prospective, randomized and comparative study. Patients with the diagnosis of dense cataract and surgical extraction programmed were divided into two groups: Ultra-Chopper and Divide & Conquer. Intraoperative data were collected and submitted for the statistical analysis. Results: 36 eyes were included, 19 eyes with Ultra-Chopper and 17 eyes with Divide & Conquer. groups were statistically equivalent in age and nucleus density. There were no surgical complications. Torsional time and cumulative dissipated energy were significantly reduced in the ultra-chopper group. The ultra-chopper group had less total case time, fluid usage and aspiration (AsP) time. Conclusion: The ultra-chopper tech- nique can reduce ultrasound energy dissipation during cataract surgery, and decrease case time, fluid usage and AsP time.

从上世纪70年代初开始,南美洲国家主要是巴西和智利,作为硫酸盐浆生产地,快速和持续的发展。其硫酸盐浆供应本国市场和国际市场。最近,南美洲其他国家也掌握并具备了速生材造林的技术和能力。乌拉圭和阿根廷显示出巨大的发展潜力,成为世界上重要的商品浆生产地。由于原木质优价廉,再加上造林方法和制浆技术得当,因此漂白硫酸盐浆具有很强的竞争力,这主要得益于桉树和松木,因为这2种树种的人工林、木材、制浆、漂白和产品质量都受到全球市场包括最苛刻的市场的普遍青睐。众所周知,巴西的漂白桉木硫酸盐商品浆不但质量和来源稳定,而且在竞争激烈的市场环境中具有非常强大的竞争力。智利硫酸盐商品浆的成功更多的要归功于辐射松制浆,但其桉木浆发展也较快。本文主要介绍从人工林种植（森林学）到商品浆的生产中,推动商品浆发展的因素。读者的阅历将有助于更好地理解这条成功的商业历程,并最终参与进来。由于南美洲商品浆的成功以人工林为基础, 因此本文将在最后一部分介绍一些有助于森林产业实现高产和环保的基础问题。

For human immunodeficiency virus(HIV)-infected patients, the 1990s were marked by the introduction of highly active antiretroviral therapy(HAART) representing a new perspective of life for these patients. The use of HAART was shown to effectively suppress the replication of HIV-1 and dramatically reduce mortality and morbidity, which led to a better and longer quality of life for HIV-1-infected patients. Apart from the substantial benefits that result from the use of various HAART regimens, laboratory and clinical experience has shown that HAART can induce severe and considerable adverse effects related to metabolic complications of lipid metabolism, characterized by signs of lipodystrophy, insulin resistance, central adiposity, dyslipidemia, increased risk of cardiovascular disease and even an increased risk of atherosclerosis. New drugs are being studied, new therapeutic strategies are being implemented, and the use of statins, fibrates, and inhibitors of intestinal cholesterol absorption have been effective alternatives. Changes in diet and lifestyle have also shown satisfactory results.

Helicobacter pylori and EBV in gastric carcinomas:Methylation status and microsatellite instability

AIM:To verify the methylation status of CDH1, DAPK, COX2, hMLH1 and CDKN2A genes and to evaluate their association with Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori)-cagA+ and Epstein Barr virus (EBV) infections in gastric ***: Methylation-specific PCR (MsP) assay was performed in 89 primary gastric carcinomas (intestinal and diffuse types). Microsatellite instability (MsI) analysis was performed using the BAT26 primer set and PCR products were analyzed with the ABI PRIsM 3100 genetic Analyzer using genescan 3.7 software (Applied Biosystems). Detection of H. pylori and genotyping were performed by PCR, using specifi c primers for ureaseC and cagA genes. The presence of EBV was assessed by in situ hybridization. statistical analyses were performed using the χ2 or Fisher's exact ***: The most frequent hypermethylated gene was COX-2 (63.5%) followed by DAPK (55.7%), CDH1 (51%), CDKN2A (36%) and hMLH1 (30.3%). Intestinal and diffuse adenocarcinomas showed different methylation profiles and there was an association between methylation of E-CDH1 and H. pylori-cagA+ in the intestinal adenocarcinoma type. MsI was correlated with hMLH1 methylation. There was an inverse correlation between DAPK hypermethylation and ***: We found a strong association between CDH1 methylation and H. pylori-cagA+ in intestinal-type gastric cancer, association of MsI and better prognosis and an heterogeneous COX-2 overexpression.
