em>B. aegyptiacaem>, it is a species of economic and cultural importance in various countries, with diverse uses that include: medicinal, charcoal, pesticides and forage andem> in vitro em>callus production is important to have many applications in both basic and industrial research on this specie. For the induction of callus, B. aegyptica seed cotyledons were surface sterilized with 90% ethanol for 1 minute and cultivated in MS media supplemented with 2,4-D, BAP and NAA. Both the callus and seed were collected and dried in an oven at 40°C - 45°C. Cotyledon’s seed and callus were grounded into the powdered form using mortar and pestle and stored at room temperature for further use. Five grams (5 g) each of the powder were mixed with 50 ml of the solvents: methanol and n-hexane (1:10) w/v, agitated vigorously and kept on an orbital shaker at 150 rpm for 24 h, then filtered. The extracts of the plant sample were evaluated in agar dilution method which was used to determine the MIC and MBC of the extracts. The auxin NAA in low concentrations (0.5 mg/L) in the presence of a dose of 0.5 mg/L of the cytokinin BAP induced 100% callus formation. The 50 and 100 mg/ml methanolic extracts were more effective than the n-hexane extracts for both the gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria. By callus extracts under 100 and 50 mg/ml reveals that methanolic extracts of callus had the highest zone of inhibition. An effective protocol for callus induction has been developed that can use for germplasm conservation or for genetic engineering. evidence from the present study revealed both extracts possess strong broad-spectrum antibacterial effect. 目的进行社会运动的概念分析,促进其应用于健康领域的知识转化和可持续性。方法应用Avant和Walker的方法阐明知识转化和可持续性背景下社会运动的概念。系统检索了同行评审和灰色文献数据库中描述社会运动行为如何促成健康照护和社区环境中循证实践变革的文章,2名研究者对标题、摘要和全文进行了独立审查,对结果协商一致。最终共纳入38篇文章。结果促进知识转化和可持续性的社会运动可以被定义为:个人、团体或组织作为自愿和具有内在动机的变革推动者,围绕一个共同目标动员起来,通过知识转化和可持续性的努力改善结局。通过概念分析,共确定了10个概念属性、3个前置因素和3个结局指标。它们是动态的、相互关联的,往往相互促进以强化社会运动的各个方面。重要的概念属性包括行动的迫切性、集体行动和集体认同等。基于概念分析结果建立社会运动行为框架。结论社会运动行为可以提供看待实施科学的新视角。集体行动和集体认同--在实施科学文献中不太常见的概念--有助于深入了解基层方式对知识转化和可持续性的作用。研究结果可以指导健康照护者和变革领导者利用社会运动的视角实现现实中的变革项目。通过社会运动方式动员个人、团体或组织,使之作为强有力的变革推动者和团队参与变革,影响个人、组织和卫生系统,促进知识转化和可持续性。

New insights into the role of intra-tumor genetic heterogeneity in carcinogenesis: identification of complex single gene variance within tumors

Aim:Present cancer hypotheses are almost all based on the concept that accumulation of specific driver gene mutations cause *** discovery of intra-tumor genetic heterogeneity(ITGH),has resulted in this hypothesis being modified by assuming that most of these ITGH mutations are in passenger *** addition,accumulating ITGH data on driver gene mutations have revealed considerable genotype/phenotype *** study proposes to investigate this disconnect by examining the nature and degree of ITGH in breast ***:ITGH was examined in tumors using next generation sequencing of up to 68,000 reads and analysis tools that allowed for identification of distinct minority variants within single genes,i.e.,complex single gene variance(CSGV).Results:CSGV was identified in the androgen receptor genes in all breast tumors ***:evidence of CSGV suggests that a selection-as opposed to a mutation-centric hypothesis could better explain *** hypothesis proposes that tumors develop by the selection of preexisting de novo mutations rather than just the accumulation of de novo ***,the role of selection pressures,such as changes in tissue microenvironments will likely be critical to our understanding of tumor resistance as well as the development of more effective treatment protocols.

Penicillin Resistance in Nasopharyngeal Streptococcus pneumoniae among Children with Sickle Cell Disease Immunized with 7-Valent Pneumococcal Conjugate Vaccine

To assess the prevalence, the antimicrobials resistance and to identify risk factors of nasopharyngeal colonization by Streptococcus pneumoniae in children with sickle cell disease (SCD) using prophylactic penicillin and immunized with 7-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine. A total of 424 swabs were collected from the nasopharynx in 216 children with SCD and 109 samples from the control group, both from 2 to 60 months age range. Isolation and identification of pneumococci followed standard procedures. Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) for penicillin was determined by the e-test method. Prevalence of nasopharyngeal colonization by pneumococci in children with SCD was 17%, and 11% in the control group. The risk factors for increased colonization in children with SCD were the presence of more than five people at home, daycare/school attendance and low prophylaxis compliance. The prevalence of strains with penicillin resistance was 57.5% in patients with SCD and 25% in the control group. Conclusions: Prevalence of pneumococci nasopharyngeal colonization was similar among the study groups. Prophylactic use of penicillin may have increased the prevalence of resistant strains. The vaccine did not decrease the colonization with penicillin resistant strains.

AIM To evaluate the therapeutic effects of bone marrowderived CD11b+CD14+ monocytes in a murine model of chronic liver damage. MeTHODS Chronic liver damage was induced in C57BL/6 mice by administration of carbon tetrachloride and ethanol for 6 mo. Bone marrow-derived monocytes isolated by immunomagnetic separation were used for therapy. The cell transplantation effects were evaluated by morphometry,biochemical assessment,immunohistochemistry and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. ReSULTS CD11b+CD14+ monocyte therapy significantly reduced liver fibrosis and increased hepatic glutathione levels. Levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines,including tumor necrosis factor-α,interleukin(IL)-6 and IL-1β,in addition to pro-fibrotic factors,such as IL-13,transforming growth factor-β1 and tissue inhibitor of metalloproteinase-1 also decreased,while IL-10 and matrix metalloproteinase-9 increased in the monocytetreated group. CD11b+CD14+ monocyte transplantation caused significant changes in the hepatic expression of α-smooth muscle actin and osteopontin. CONCLUSION Monocyte therapy is capable of bringing about improvement of liver fibrosis by reducing oxidative stress and inflammation,as well as increasing antifibrogenic factors.

Laparoscopic surgery in pregnancy

each year, roughly 2% of pregnant women will undergo non-obstetrical abdominal surgery. Appendicitis, symptomatic cholelithiasis and adnexal masses are some of the common diagnoses encountered. Pregnancy poses challenges in the diagnosis and surgical management of these conditions for several reasons. Since the 1990's, laparoscopic surgery has gained popularity and in the past few years has become the standard of care for pregnant women with surgical pathologies. The advantages of laparoscopic surgery include shorter hospital stay, lower rates of wound infection, and decreased time to bowel function. This brief review discusses key points in laparoscopic surgery during pregnancy and highlights studies comparing laparoscopic and open approaches in common surgical conditions during pregnancy.

Various Drosophila models of human disease have recently received increased interest. The main goal is to uncover the fundamental biological basis for human pathology taking advantage of the power of Drosophila genetics. This review examines a set of Drosophila seizure-sensitive mutations that model human seizure disorders, especially epilepsy. Also described is a novel set of mutations that act as seizure-suppressors that ameliorate epilepsy phenotypes in double mutant combinations.
