Immunofluorescence has been widely used to localize microbes or specific molecules in insect tissues or ***,significant autofluorescence is frequently observed in tissues which can interfere with the fluorescent identification of target antigens,leading to inaccurate or even false positive fluorescent *** alimentary canal of the potato psyllid,Bactericera cockerelliŠulc,exhibits intense autofluorescence,hindering the application of immunolocalization for the detection and localization of the economically important pathogen transmitted by this insect,“Candidatus Liberibacter solanacearum”(Lso).In the present study,we tested the use of irradiation,hydrogen peroxide(H2O2)and Sudan black B(SBB)treatments to reduce the autofluorescence in the *** alimentary canal ***,we assessed the compatibility of the above‐mentioned treatments with Lso immunolocalization and actin staining using *** results showed that the autofluorescence in the alimentary canal was reduced by irradiation,H2O2,or SBB *** compatibility assays indicated that irradiation and H2O2 treatment both greatly reduced the fluorescent signal associated with Lso and ***,the SBB incubation preserved those target signals,while efficiently eliminating autofluorescence in the psyllid alimentary ***,herein we propose a robust method for reducing the autofluorescence in the *** alimentary canal with SBB treatment,which may improve the use of immunofluorescence labeling in this *** method may also have a wide range of uses by reducing the autofluorescence in other arthropod species.

Large structures,such as bridges,highways,etc.,need to be inspected to evaluate their actual physical and functional condition,to predict future conditions,and to help decision makers allocating maintenance and rehabilitation *** assessment of civil infrastructure condition is carried out through information obtained by inspection and/or monitoring *** techniques in structural health monitoring(SHM)involve visual inspection related to inspection standards that can be time-consuming data collection,expensive,labor intensive,and *** address these limitations,machine vision-based inspection procedures have increasingly been investigated within the research *** this context,this paper proposes and compares four different computer vision procedures to identify damage by image processing:Otsu method thresholding,Markov random fields segmentation,RGB color detection technique,and K-means clustering *** first method is based on segmentation by thresholding that returns a binary image from a grayscale *** Markov random fields technique uses a probabilistic approach to assign labels to model the spatial dependencies in image *** RGB technique uses color detection to evaluate the defect ***,K-means algorithm is based on Euclidean distance for clustering of the *** benefits and limitations of each technique are discussed,and the challenges of using the techniques are *** show the effectiveness of the described techniques in damage detection of civil infrastructures,a case study is *** show that various types of corrosion and cracks can be detected by image processing techniques making the proposed techniques a suitable tool for the prediction of the damage evolution in civil infrastructures.

This recently published cross-sectional study that included 99 men from Massachusetts General Hospital Fertility Center, Boston, MA, USA, reports that a high intake of saturated fats was inversely associated with sperm concentration and total sperm count and a high intake of omega-3 polyunsaturated fats （PUFAs） was positively associated with sperm morphology. Although the study is based upon a highly selected group of males and is of cross-sectional nature, the findings are of interest, since poor semen quality is a frequent problem in some parts of the world and identification of modifiable risk factors is highly wanted.

Plants have evolved and diversified to reduce the damages imposed by in- fectious pathogens and herbivorous insects. Living in a sedentary lifestyle, plants are constantly adapting to their environment. They employ various strategies to increase per- formance and fitness. Thus, plants developed cost-effective strategies to defend against specific insects and pathogens. Plant defense, however, imposes selective pressure on in- sects and pathogens. This selective pressure provides incentives for pathogens and insects to diversify and develop strategies to counter plant defense. This results in an evolution- ary arms race among plants, pathogens and insects. The ever-changing adaptations and physiological alterations among these organisms make studying plant-vector-pathogen interactions a challenging and fascinating field. Studying plant defense and plant protec- tion requires knowledge of the relationship among organisms and the adaptive strategies each organism utilize. Therefore, this review focuses on the integral parts of plant-vector- pathogen interactions in order to understand the factors that affect plant defense and disease development. The review addresses plant-vector-pathogen co-evolution, plant defense strategies, specificity of plant defenses and plant-vector pathogen interactions. Improving the comprehension of these factors will provide a multi-dimensional perspective for the future research in pest and disease management.

Interspecific comparison of the flight performance between sparrowhawks and common buzzards migrating at the Falsterbo peninsula： A radar study

In order to compare the two species＇ flight performance over the exposed and windy Falsterbo Peninsula, where thermal conditions seldomly are very favorable, we used tracking radar to study flight parameters of sparrowhawks Accipiter ni- sus and common buzzards Buteo buteo during autumn migration. The results showed a clear difference between sparrowhawks and common buzzards in their flight altitudes and speeds, and in the wind conditions they encountered. Common buzzards had higher flight altitudes and were more selective of wind. Flight altitude was negatively related to the wind speed, which was most pronounced for common buzzards. Sparrowhawks had higher mean air- and cross-country speeds than common buzzards. Air- speed was negatively related, whereas ground and cross-country speeds were positively related to the tailwind component for both raptors. The differences between sparrowhawks and buzzards could to a large degree be explained by a larger dependence on thermal soaring among the common buzzards; a strategy associated with selectivity for favourable thermal and wind conditions during migratory flight. An additional important explanation for the interspecific differences was the habit of the sparrowhawks to combine migratory flight with hunting for prey, which makes it prone to fly at lower altitudes and use flapping flight to a much larger degree than common buzzards which do not forage during their migratory passage of the Falsterbo Peninsula [Current Zoo- logy 60（5）： 670-679, 2014].

An Elevator Button Recognition Method Combining YOLOv5 and OCR

Fast recognition of elevator buttons is a key step for service robots toride elevators automatically. Although there are some studies in this field, noneof them can achieve real-time application due to problems such as recognitionspeed and algorithm complexity. Elevator button recognition is a comprehensiveproblem. Not only does it need to detect the position of multiple buttonsat the same time, but also needs to accurately identify the characters on eachbutton. The latest version 5 of you only look once algorithm (YOLOv5) hasthe fastest reasoning speed and can be used for detecting multiple objects inreal-time. The advantages ofYOLOv5 make it an ideal choice for detecting theposition of multiple buttons in an elevator, but it’s not good at specific wordrecognition. Optical character recognition (OCR) is a well-known techniquefor character recognition. This paper innovatively improved the YOLOv5network, integrated OCR technology, and applied them to the elevator buttonrecognition process. First, we changed the detection scale in the YOLOv5network and only maintained the detection scales of 40 ∗ 40 and 80 ∗ 80, thusimproving the overall object detection speed. Then, we put a modified OCRbranch after the YOLOv5 network to identify the numbers on the ***, we verified this method on different datasets and compared it withother typical methods. The results show that the average recall and precisionof this method are 81.2% and 92.4%. Compared with others, the accuracyof this method has reached a very high level, but the recognition speed hasreached 0.056 s, which is far higher than other methods.

The construction industry is recognised to pose serious environmental threats due to its anthropogenic *** confront this challenge,green building has been famed as an auspicious strategy to alleviate energy-related carbon emissions alongside climate change ***,it has birthed diverse empirical studies and holistic reviews by the research ***,these previous studies have been carried out from a global and continental viewpoint regardless of the green building development specifically in emerging *** present study seeks to fill the sparse research upshots on the synthesis of green building research at the country level with core focus on South *** this light,the current study provides a scoping overview of the intellectual exploration on green building research in the South African *** study’s findings highlight the varying growth regarding the subject matter,the drivers,drawbacks,and socio-economic issues confronting in developing green building projects in the *** optimize the advancement of green building in the region,this study recommends the implementation of financing schemes,utilization of advanced digital technologies,and promotion of green and sustainable building curricula across the institutions as well as post-occupancy-related studies within the green building spectrum towards a safe and salutogenic built-environment in the country.

In Italy,when building a new school,there are no regulatory or cultural references that consider recent regulations on energy savings and emissions reduction,key environmental considerations that have received increasing notice in society and new teaching methods needs to address these environmental concerns,especially as related to the built *** main goal of this paper is to outline qualitative and quantitative guidelines for building low-carbon kindergartens in *** guidelines will define a new building type for schools while also evaluating energy and environmental performance to create a structured and interdisciplinary support tool that can be used by designers during the preliminary phase of the design *** method starts from the detailed analysis of representative sustainable buildings to define new typological models,then several energy and environmental analyses follow to evaluate the new building type performance,and finally the guidelines are detailed following the environmental and technological system.
