Influence of shock absorber condition on pavement fatigue using relative damage concept

considering the importance of the road transportation nowadays, concerns related to pavement deterioration and maintenance have become relevant subjects. Especially for commercial vehicles, the vertical dynamic load （characterized by the tire-road interaction） is directly related to wear on the road surface. Given this, the main objective of this paper is to analyse effects of vertical loads applied on the flexible pavement, considering the variation of the condition of shock absorbers from a truck＇s front suspension. The mea- surements were performed on a rigid truck, with 2 steering front axles, in a durability test track located in Brazil. With a constant load of 6 tons on the front suspension （the maximum allowed load on front axles according to Brazilian legislation）, 3 different shock absorber conditions were evaluated： new, used and failed. By applying the relative damage concept, it is possible to conclude that the variation of the shock absorber conditions will significantly affect the vertical load applied on the pavement. Although the results clearly point to a dependent relationship between the load and the condition of the shock ab- sorbers, it is recommended to repeat the same methodology, in future to analyse the influence of other quarter car model variants （such as spring rate, mass and tire spring stiffness）.

Passive and active stretching techniques have been shown to increase both chronic and acute range of motion(ROM).Acute ROM improvements can be countered by decreases in muscle performance,primarily after prolonged static stretching(SS)and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation(PNF)techniques when not incorporated into a full warm up *** contrast,ballistic stretching and dynamic stretching techniques typically induce either an increase or no change in muscular force and *** review explores studies that have investigated stretching responses on ROM,muscle functionality and ***,the literature demonstrates that prolonged acute SS and PNF stretching can elicit the greatest changes in flexibility,but without additional dynamic activities(*** warm up)can induce neuromuscular force and power output impairments,while increasing ROM and some sports specific *** response to stretching may be determined by the manipulation of confounding variables such as duration,population,volume,test specificity and *** increased dosage of some of these variables during stretching in isolation,augments ROM increases while attenuating muscle force output,except for stretching intensity which may lead to similar *** with high flexibility may have positive effects from stretching when tested on their sport specific performance,while general population may suffer greater negative *** control-ling these variables during stretching protocols may lead to misleading information regarding its effects on muscle performance.

The current study is developed based on one of the types of subgrade rupture risk suggested by Selig and Waters （1994）. It aims to evaluate subgrade stability railroad, which consists of the slope stability analysis of a railway yard embankment subjected to a wagon load type gondola parked on this track. This proposed analysis was taken into consideration because there are Brazilian railroads in high deterioration level. In some of these lines the tracks are submitted to increasing amount of load every year. The adopted model slope stability to the studied railroad embankments considers the rupture on circular line. It was applied the Geoslope-Slope/W software, version 6, to the evaluation of the platform-slope system. Several situations are adopted to reach the minimum safety slope, permitting to analyze the platform stability to keep railroad traffic under adequate safety level.

Studying the interaction of components is basic for a railroad project, which is also very important for creating maintenance procedures based on predictions from a model that assumes adequate performance. To determine these interactions, which can have a great number of combinations, the use of a computational model is of vital importance, in this case, the program FERROVIA 1.0 （RAIlROAD 1.0） was used. A critical study developed the program FERROVIA 1.0, and its variables were characterized based on values observed in the literature. After initial characterization was carried out, a comparative study was performed on the sensitivity between these variables and the indications of significant behavior for a railway deformed by the known load of a wheel. A statistical program was used to correlate the elements. The intention was to launch the program FERROVIA 1.0 and later use it for 2,187 combinations. The data used in these correlations corresponded to the normal values for the elements used in railroad engineering practice. Our main goal is to understand the behavior of the track vertical deflection according to the variation of the scaling of the various elements of the railway,
