This study investigates the design and implementation of Flying Ad Hoc Networks(FANETs),a network architec-ture inspired by the Mobile Ad Hoc Network(MANET)model,specifically tailored to support unmanned aerial vehicles(UAVs).As UAVs increasingly contribute to diverse fields,from surveillance to delivery,FANETs have emerged as essential in ensuring stable,dynamic communication channels among drones in *** research adopts a dual approach,combining rigorous theoretical analysis with detailed practical simulations to assess the performance,adaptability,and efficiency of FANETs in varying *** findings emphasize the ability of FANETs to manage network congestion effectively in densely populated areas,a critical feature for maintaining reliable communications in complex ***,FANETs demonstrate high potential to support critical applications,such as emergency response,disaster management,and public safety operations,where quick and coordinated action is *** study also underscores the importance of establishing a hierarchical structure among nodes within the network,which allows for more efficient data exchange and helps optimize the overall network *** this work,significant insights are offered into the design principles that can enhance UAV communication networks,providing a foundation for the development of more resilient,scalable,and efficient technological *** advancements could accelerate the deployment of UAVs across a variety of sectors,including logistics,agriculture,environmental monitoring,and *** such,this study not only contributes to the field of ad hoc networking but also holds potential for transformative impacts across industries where UAVs play an increasingly central role,promoting greater integration and operational success.

Hidden dangers of pelvic fracture:A meta-analysis on urinary tract injury incidence and risk factors

BACKGROUND Pelvic fractures are often associated with significant morbidity,including injuries to the urinary *** the incidence and risk factors for urinary tract injury in these patients is crucial for prompt diagnosis and *** meta-analysis aims to synthesize existing evidence to determine the overall incidence and identify specific risk factors associated with urinary tract injuries in patients with pelvic *** To determine the incidence and risk factors for urinary tract injuries in patients with pelvic *** A systematic search of PubMed,EMBASE,Scopus,and the Cochrane Library was conducted without date *** examining the incidence and risk factors of urinary tract injuries in patients with pelvic fractures were *** extracted included demographics,injury mechanism,pelvic fracture type,urinary tract injury incidence,mortality,and discharge *** Manager 5.4 was used for data *** Ten studies comprising 22700 patients were *** pooled incidence of urinary tract injury associated with pelvic fracture was 6.88%(95%CI:6.20%-7.55%).Vehicle,motorcycle,and pedestrian accidents were identified as risk factors for urinary tract injury,with relative risks(RR)of 1.08(95%CI:1.06-1.11),1.89(95%CI:1.78-2.00),and 1.53(95%CI:1.20-1.95),*** fracture and pelvic ring disruption were significantly associated with urinary tract injury[odds ratio(OR)1.94,95%CI:1.09-3.44 and OR 5.53,95%CI:4.67-6.54,respectively)].Patients without urinary tract injury were more likely to be discharged home(RR 0.79,95%CI:0.67-0.92).Mortality was higher in patients with urinary tract injury(OR 1.92,95%CI:1.77-2.09).CONCLUSION Urinary tract injury occurs in nearly 7%of patients with pelvic *** accidents,pubic fractures,and pelvic ring disruptions are significant risk *** tract injury following pelvic fracture is associated with increased mortality.

Carotenoid-based ornaments are often considered reliable(honest)individual condition signals because their expression implies physiological costs unaffordable for low-quality animals(handicap signals).Recently,it has been suggested that efficient cell respiration is mandatory for producing red ketocarotenoids from dietary yellow *** implies that red colorations should be entirely unfalsifiable and independent of expression costs(index signals).In a precedent study,male common crossbills,Loxia curvirostra,showing a red plumage reported higher apparent survival than those showing yellowish-orange *** plumage redness in this species is due to ketocarotenoid accumulation in ***,we correlated the male plumage redness(a 4-level visual score:yellow,patchy,orange,and red)and the body morphology in more than 1,ooo adult crossbills captured in 3 Iberian localities to infer the mechanisms responsible for color evolution.A principal component analysis summarized morphometry of 10 variables(beak,wing,tarsus length,etc.).The overall body size(PC1)and the length of flight feathers regarding body size(Pc3)showed significant positive relationships with plumage *** redness was barely correlated with bill shape measures,suggesting no constraint in acquiring carotenoids from pine ***,large body sizes or proportionally long flying feathers could help carotenoid acquisition via social competition or increased foraging *** longer flight feathers might also be associated with a specific cell respiration profile that would simultaneously favor flying capacities and enzymatic transformations needed for ketocarotenoid *** a phenotypic profile would agree with the hypothesis of ketocarotenoid-based colors acting as individual quality index signals.

Energy Meteorology for the Evaluation of Solar Farm Thermal Impacts on Desert Habitats

This work addresses challenges and opportunities in the evaluation of solar power plant impacts, with a particular focus on thermal effects of solar plants on the environment and vice-versa. Large-scale solar power plants are often sited in arid or desert habitats, which tend to include fauna and flora that are highly sensitive to changes in temperature and humidity. Our understanding of both shortwave(solar) and longwave(terrestrial) radiation processes in solar power plants is complete enough to render the modeling of radiation fluxes with high confidence for most applications. In contrast to radiation, the convective environment in large-scale solar power plants is much more difficult to characterize. Wind direction, wind speed, turbulence intensity, dust concentration, ground condition, panel configuration density, orientation and distribution throughout the solar field, all affect the local environment, the balance between radiation and convection,and in turn, the performance and thermal impact of solar power plants. Because the temperatures of the two sides of photovoltaic(PV) panels depend on detailed convection–radiation balances, the uncertainty associated with convection affects the heat and mass transfer balances as well. Those balances are critically important in estimating the thermal impact of large-scale solar farms on local habitats. Here we discuss outstanding issues related with these transfer processes for utility-scale solar generation and highlight potential pathways to gain useful knowledge about the convective environment directly from solar farms under operating conditions.

Water-soluble hollow nanocrystals from self-assembly of AIEEactive Pt(II)metallomesogens

Luminescent hollow micro-and nanocrystals have been successfully obtained taking advantage of the self-assembly behavior and the aggregation-induced emission enhancement properties of several bispyrazolate Pt(II)metallomesogens decorated with four terminal alkyl ***-in-water droplets have been used to confine the Pt(II)compounds and drive them to be self-assembled via intermolecular Pt…Pt interactions into spherical aggregates of about 200 or 50 *** of the oil phase generates highly-stable aqueous dispersions of nanocrystals that emit a bright orange light as a result of the existence of^(3)MMLCT excited *** methods and conditions have been tested for studying the effect of several parameters such as the temperature and the stirring speed in the final particle size and in the polydispersity ***,the micro-and nanocrystals are able to entrap hydrophobic drugs between the alkyl chains of the compounds,forming stable dispersions of drug-loaded capsules in *** droplet method is applied in the area of metallomesogens for the first time to synthesize self-assembled Pt(II)nanocapsules,which opens a new field of study that could allow the use of these liquid crystal materials in biomedical applications.

Prehospital critical care drug-therapy and 30-day mortality in patients with acute respiratory disease

BACKGROUND: Prehospital medication is a reality, and the role of these therapies must be explored to assess their validity, especially for acute respiratory diseases, which are usually associated with increased morbidity. The aim of this study was to examine the association of prehospital medication use with mortality in patients with acute respiratory ***: A prospective, multicenter, emergency medical service(EMS) delivery cohort study was carried out in adults with unselected respiratory diseases managed by EMS who were transferred to the emergency department. From January 1, 2019, to October 31, 2023, six advanced life support units, thirty-eight basic life support units, and four hospitals in Spain participated in the study. Demographic data, vital signs, use of mechanical ventilation, prehospital respiratory diagnosis, and prehospital medication were collected. The primary outcome was 30-day in-hospital ***: A total of 961 patients were included, with a mortality rate of 17.5%(168 patients). Age, an increasing number of comorbidities, the use of invasive mechanical ventilation(IMV), the use of major analgesics, hypnotics, and bicarbonate were risk factors. In contrast, elevated systolic blood pressure and Glasgow Coma Scale scores were found to be protective factors against mortality. The predictive capacity of the model reached an area under the curve(AUC) of 0.857(95% confidence interval [95% CI] 0.827–0.888).CONCLUSION: Our data revealed that IMV, major analgesics, hypnotics and bicarbonate administration were associated with elevated mortality. Adding prehospital drug therapy information to demographic variables and vital signs could improve EMS decision-making, allowing a better characterization of patients at risk of clinical worsening.

TML:a language to specify aerial robotic missions for the framework Aerostack

Does a Country/Region's Economic Status Affect Its Universities' Presence in International Rankings?

Purpose: Study how economic parameters affect positions in the Academic Ranking of World Universities' top 500 published by the Shanghai Jiao Tong University Graduate School of Education in countries/regions with listed higher education institutions. Design/methodology/approach: The methodology used capitalises on the multi-variate characteristics of the data analysed. The multi-colinearity problem posed is solved by running principal components prior to regression analysis, using both classical(OLS) and robust(Huber and Tukey) methods. Findings: Our results revealed that countries/regions with long ranking traditions are highly competitive. Findings also showed that some countries/regions such as Germany, United Kingdom, Canada, and Italy, had a larger number of universities in the top positions than predicted by the regression model. In contrast, for Japan, a country where social and economic performance is high, the number of ARWU universities projected by the model was much larger than the actual figure. In much the same vein, countries/regions that invest heavily in education, such as Japan and Denmark, had lower than expected *** limitations: Using data from only one ranking is a limitation of this study, but the methodology used could be useful to other global rankings. Practical implications: The results provide good insights for policy makers. They indicate the existence of a relationship between research output and the number of universities per million inhabitants. Countries/regions, which have historically prioritised higher education, exhibited highest values for indicators that compose the rankings methodology; furthermore,minimum increase in welfare indicators could exhibited significant rises in the presence of their universities on the ***/value: This study is well defined and the result answers important questions about characteristics of countries/regions and their higher education system.

Atypical Presentation of Crohn’s Disease: Diagnostic Challenges in a Clinical Case

Introduction: Crohn’s Disease (CD) is a chronic inflammatory disorder with a heterogeneous presentation. While diarrhea, abdominal pain, and weight loss are hallmarks, atypical manifestations can obscure the diagnosis. This report highlights an unusual presentation of CD to emphasize the need for comprehensive diagnostic strategies. Case Report: A 25-year-old male presented with peripheral edema, anorexia, and abdominal distension but lacked classic gastrointestinal (GI) symptoms. Laboratory findings included microcytic anemia and hypoalbuminemia, while imaging revealed ascites and bowel wall thickening. Elevated fecal calprotectin and positive Anti-Saccharomyces cerevisiae antibodies (ASCA) supported the diagnosis. Endoscopy confirmed ileocolic Crohn’s Disease (L3 + L4). Infliximab therapy resulted in marked clinical improvement. Discussion: This case underscores the complexity of atypical CD presentations. Early use of serological markers, imaging, and endoscopy guided the diagnosis. Recognition of CD’s diverse manifestations is critical for timely intervention. Conclusion: Atypical CD presentations require heightened clinical suspicion and a multidisciplinary approach to reduce diagnostic delays and improve patient outcomes.
