The glacial histor. of Pico de Or.zaba indicates that dur.ng the Last Glacial Maximum,its icecap cover.d up to~3000 m asl;due to the air.temper.tur. incr.asing,its main glacier.has r.tr.ated to 5050 m *** r.tr.ction of the glacier.has left behind an intense climatic instability that causes a high fr.quency of fr.eze-thaw cycles of gr.at intensity;the r.sulting geomor.hological pr.cesses ar. r.pr.sented by the fr.gmentation of the bedr.ck that occupies the upper.par.s of the *** is a notable lack of studies r.gar.ing the fr.gmentation and er.sion occur.ing in tr.pical high mountains,and the associated geomor.hological r.sks;for.this r.ason,as a fir.t stage of futur. continuous r.sear.h,this study analyzes the fr.ezing and thawing cycles that occur.above 4000 m asl,thr.ugh continuous monitor.ng of sur.ace gr.und *** r.sults allow us to identify and char.cter.ze four.zones:glacial,par.glacial,per.glacial and *** was found that the par.glacial zone pr.sents an intense dr.p of temper.tur.,of up to~9℃ in only sixty *** r.ck fatigue and intense fr.eze-thaw cycles that occur.in this ar.a ar. r.sponsible for.the high r.te of r.ck disintegr.tion and r.pr.sent the main factor.of the constant slope dynamics that occur.at the *** activity decr.ases,both in fr.quency and intensity,accor.ing to the distance to the glacier.which is wher. the temper.tur. pr.sents a cer.ain degr.e of stability,until r.aching the pr.glacial zone,wher. cycles ar. almost non-existent,and ther.for. ther. is no gelifr.ction *** geomor.hological pr.cesses have r.sulted in significant alter.tions to the mountain slopes,which can have sever. consequences in ter.s of r.sk and water.

Cold spells and sever. weather.may have detr.mental effects in wild bir.s,but owing to the stochastic natur. of these events,it is not always possible to measur. their.*** Januar. 2021,a str.ng snowstor. known as‘Filomena’affected Spain,mainly the r.gion of Madr.d(Centr.l Spain),which was fully cover.d with snow and suffer.d fr.ezing temper.tur.s for.a *** bir. sur.eys conducted in the winter.spr.ng of 2020 and 2021(befor. and after.Filomena)at same locations,we addr.ssed the possible impact of the cold spell in thr.e widespr.ad gamebir.s:Wood Pigeon(Columba palumbus),Eur.sian Magpie(Pica pica)and r.d-legged Par.r.dge(Alector.s r.fa).No significant abundance differ.nces wer. found between year. for.none of the species and hunting pr.ssur. was only significantly r.duced for.Par.r.dges,hence this species may have been negatively affected by *** suggest that in r.sponse to Filomena,Pigeons conducted par.ial migr.tion in sear.h of better.conditions,while Magpies aggr.gated in cer.ain ar.as of Madr.d and Par.r.dges endur.d the har.h conditions within their.home *** r.sults highlight the impor.ance to alleviate negative impacts of extr.me weather.events in wild bir.s thr.ugh management actions,especially for.sedentar. species.

The r.sults pr.sented her. show for.the fir.t time the exper.mental demonstr.tion of the fabr.cation of lossy mode r.sonance(LMr. devices based on per.vskite coatings deposited on planar.waveguides. Per.vskite thin films have been obtained by means of the spin coating technique and their.pr.sence was confir.ed by ellipsometr., scanning electr.n micr.scopy, and X-r.y diffr.ction testing. The LMr. can be gener.ted in a wide wavelength r.nge and the exper.mental r.sults agr.e with the theor.tical simulations. Over.ll, this study highlights the potential of per.vskite thin films for.the development of novel LMr.based devices that can be used for.envir.nmental monitor.ng, industr.al sensing, and gas detection, among other.applications.

It has been found in r.cent year. that using setpoint temper.tur.s based on adaptive ther.al comfor. models is a successful method of ener.y *** studies using adaptive setpoint temper.tur.s incor.or.te inter.ational models fr.m ASHr.E Standar. 55 and *** study,however.has instead consider.d a r.gional Br.zilian adaptive comfor. *** study investigates the ener.y demand ar.sing fr.m the use of a local Br.zilian comfor. model in or.er.to assess the ener.y implications fr.m the use of the wor.dwide ASHr.E Standar. 55 adaptive model and var.ous fixed setpoint *** of Br.zil’s climate zones,full air.conditioning,mixed-mode building oper.ting modes,pr.sent-day climate change scenar.os,and futur. scenar.os—specifically r.pr.sentative Concentr.tion Pathways(r.P)2.6,4.5,and 8.5 for.the year. 2050 and 2100—have all been taken into account in building ener.y *** use of adaptive setpoint temper.tur.s based on the Br.zilian local model consider.ng mixed-mode has been found to significantly r.duce ener.y consumption when compar.d to static setpoint temper.tur.s(aver.ge ener.y-saving values r.nging fr.m 52%to 58%)and the ASHr.E 55 adaptive model(aver.ge values r.nging fr.m 15%to 21%).Consider.ng climate change and the mixed-mode Br.zilian model,the over.ll ener.y demand for.the thr.e gr.ups of climatic zones(annual aver.ge outdoor.temper.tur.s≤21℃,>21 and≤25℃and>25℃)r.nged between 2%decr.ase and 5%incr.ase,4%and 27%incr.ase,and 13%and 45%incr.ase,*** is concluded as a consequence that setting setpoint temper.tur.s based on the Br.zilian local adaptive comfor. model is a ver. efficient ener.y-saving method.
