Transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) is a new therapeutic option to treat patients with symptomatic severe aortic stenosis, and a prohibitive mortality risk for conventional surgical AVR2. A thorough understanding of the procedural steps involved in TAVR is imperative for all components of the heart time. Balloon aortic valvuloplasty under rapid ventricular pacing is one of the main procedural steps, and is usually performed before valve insertion to enable passage of the prosthesis through the stenotic native aortic valve. Hemodynamic collapse necessitating prompt intervention may occur at different stages during the procedure.

This work introduces a methodology to estimate coffee prices based on the use of Extreme Learning *** process is initiated by identifying the presence of nonstationary components,like seasonality and *** components are withdrawn if they are ***,the temporal lags are selected based on the response of the Partial Autocorre-lation Function *** predictors,we address the following models:Exponential Smooth-ing(ES),Autoregressive(AR)and Autoregressive Integrated and Moving Average(ARIMA)models,Multilayer Perceptron(MLP)and Extreme Learning Machines(ELMs)neural *** computational results based on three error metrics and two coffee types(Ara-bica and Robusta)showed that the neural networks,especially the ELM,can reach higher performance levels than the other *** methodology,which presents preprocess-ing stages,lag selection,and use of ELM,is a novelty that contributes to the coffee prices forecasting field.

This paper develops a novel approach to track power system state evolution based on the maximum correntropy criterion,due to its robustness against non-Gaussian *** includes the temporal aspects on the estimation process within a maximum-correntropy-based extended Kalman filter(MCEKF),which is able to deal with both nonlinear supervisory control and data acquisition(SCADA)and phasor measurement unit(PMU)measurement *** representing the behavior of the state variables with a nonparametric model within the kernel density estimation,it is possible to include abrupt state transitions as part of the process noise with non-Gaussian ***,a novel strategy to update the size of Parzen windows in the kernel estimation is proposed to suppress the effects of suspect *** properly adjusting the kernel bandwidth,the proposed MCEKF keeps its accuracy during sudden load changes and contingencies,or in the presence of bad *** with IEEE test systems and the Brazilian interconnected system are carried *** results show that the method deals with non-Gaussian noises in both the process and measurement,and provides accurate estimates of the system state under normal and abnormal conditions.

Huanglongbing(HLB)is a disease that has devastated the Florida citrus industry,threatens the entire *** industry,and globally is rapidly ***’s citrus production is 90%sweet orange,which is quite sensitive to *** heavy reliance on sweet orange for Florida citrus production makes the industry especially vulnerable to diseases that are damaging to this type of ***,90%of Florida oranges are used in producing orange juice that is defined by a federal regulation known as the“orange juice standard”,specifying that at least 90%of“orange juice”must be derived from Citrus *** analyses definitively reveal that sweet orange is not a true species,but just one of many introgression hybrids of *** and ***,with phenotypic diversity resulting from accumulated mutations in this single hybrid,the“sweet orange”.No other fruit industry is limited by law to such a narrow genetic ***,there are new citrus hybrids displaying reduced sensitivity to HLB,and in some cases they produce juice,alone or in blends,that consumers would recognize as“orange juice”.Reconsidering current regulations on orange juice standards may permit use of such hybrids in“orange juice”,providing greater latitude for commercialization of these hybrids,leading to higher-quality orange juice and a more sustainable Florida orange juice industry.

Monitoring the concentration of antibiotics in body fluids is essential to optimizing the therapy and minimizing the risk of bacteria resistance,which can be made with electrochemical sensors tailored with appropriate *** this paper,we report on sensors made with screen-printed electrodes(SPE)coated with fullerene(C60),reduced graphene oxide(rGO)and Nafion(NF)(C60-rGO-NF/SPE)to determine the antibiotic metronidazole(MTZ).Under optimized conditions,the C60-rGO-NF/SPE sensor exhibited a linear response in square wave voltammetry for MTZ concentrations from 2.5×10^(-7) to 34×10^(-6) mol/L,with a detection limit of 2.1×10^(-7) mol/*** sensor was also capable of detecting MTZ in serum and urine,with recovery between 94%and 100%,which are similar to those of the standard chromatographic method(HPLC-UV).Because the C60-rGO-NF/SPE sensor is amenable to mass production and allows for MTZ determination with simple principles of detection,it fulfills the requirements of therapeutic drug monitoring programs.

This work presents a short review of the current research on the acousto-optic mechanism applied to optical fibers. The role of the piezoelectric element and the acousto-optic modulator in the excitation of flexural and longitudinal acoustic modes in the frequency range up to 1.2 MHz is highlighted. A combination of the finite elements and the transfer matrix methods is used to simulate the interaction of the waves with Bragg and long period gratings. Results show a very good agreement with experimental data. Recent applications such as the writing of gratings under the acoustic excitation and a novel viscometer sensor based on the acousto-optic mechanism are discussed.

Esophagogastric anastomosis with invagination into stomach:New technique to reduce fistula formation

AIM: To present a new technique of cervical esophagogastric anastomosis to reduce the frequency of fistula formation. METHODS: A group of 31 patients with thoracic and abdominal esophageal cancer underwent cervical esophagogastric anastomosis with invagination of the proximal esophageal stump into the stomach tube. In the region elected for anastomosis, a transverse myotomy of the esophagus was carried out around the entire circumference of the esophagus. Afterwards, a 4-cm long segment of esophagus was invaginated into the stomach and anastomosed to the anterior and the posterior walls. RESULTS: Postoperative minor complications occurred in 22 (70.9%) patients. Four (12.9%) patients had serious complications that led to death. The discharge of saliva was at a lower region, while attempting to leave the anastomosis site out of the alimentary transit. Three (9.7%) patients had fistula at the esophagogastric anastomosis, with minimal leakage of air or saliva and with mild clinical repercussions. No patients had esophago- gastric fistula with intense saliva leakage from either the cervical incision or the thoracic drain. Fibrotic stenosis of anastomoses occurred in seven (22.6%) patients. All these patients obtained relief from their dysphagia with endoscopic dilatation of the ***: Cervical esophagogastric anastomosis with invagination of the proximal esophageal stump into the stomach tube presented a low rate of esophagogastric fistula with mild clinical repercussions.

AIM:To evaluate inflammatory activity in patients with Crohn's disease (CD) using technetium-99m-hexamethylpropyleneamine oxime (99mTc-HMPAO) granulocyte ***: Twenty patients (7 male and 13 female) with CD and five healthy volunteers were selected for 99mTc-HMPAO granulocyte scintigraphy. The Crohn's Disease Activity Index (CDAI), blood tests and C-reactive protein (CRP) of each patient were performed 7 d before the scintigraphic images. The leukocytes were labeled according to the International Society of Radiolabeled Blood Elements (ISORBE) consensus protocol and the scintigraphic images, including single photon emission computed tomography, were obtained 30 min and 2 h after injection of the radiolabeled ***:The labeling yield of the leukocytes with the lipophilic complex 99mTc-HMPAO was 55.0%±10%. Six of the 20 patients (30%) presented congruent results for the three parameters investigated (CDAI, Scintigraphic Index and CRP). On the other hand, 14 patients (70%) did not show congruent results. There was no significant correlation between the indices analyzed according to the Spearman test (P>0.05,n=20).CONCLUSION: The results suggest that 99mTc-HMPAO-labeled leukocyte scintigraphy could be important for determining inflammatory activity in CD even in the absence of clinical symptoms.

Rationale: In a previously published trial on spinal acute non-traumatic pain, peripheral neuro- regenerative combination of UTP, CMP and hydroxocobalamin presented unexpected analgesicproperties. Objective: To corroborate analgesiceffects of UTP, CMP and hydroxocobalamin combination in a self-paired evolutionary model. Methods: Mean VAS scores from pretreatment, V2 (5th treatment day) and V3 (10th treatment day) were plotted and statistically analyzed (ANOVA) for differences. PFQ scores from pretreatment, V2, and V3 were analyzed using the chisquare test. Results: The difference between V3 and pretreatment mean VAS scores was statistically significant (p < 0.0001). The improvement in PFQ scores throughout the study was found to be statistically significant (p < 0.0001). Conclusion: The combination of UTP, CMP and hydroxocobalamin seems to have analgesic properties in mediumterm use. The complex peripheral neu-roregenerative pharmacodynamics of this combination provides a plausible basis for this finding. Further randomized studies are needed to explore this combination for the indication of neuropathic pain due to spinal structure involvement.
