This pa.er presents the influence of the ra.io Ia.Pa.a.d concentra.ion of vola.ile a.ids (TVa. in the opera.iona. sta.ility of a.Ua.B rea.tor trea.ing swine wa.te wa.er. The trea.ment system in rea. sca.e wa. constituted of deca.ter, followed by the Ua.B rea.tor with volume of 7.4 m3 a.d 11.5 m3, respectively. It ha. been observed a.la.ge oscilla.ion of the ra.io Ia.IP in the Ua.B rea.tor with a. a.era.e va.ue of 0.39, a.d a.era.e efficiency of remova. of BOD a.d COD of 79.8 a.d 79.3%, respectively, a. the sta.t, dropping to 0.12 in the continuity of the experiment, including during overloa., in which the remova. efficiencies of COD a.d BOD rea.hed va.ues below 10%. The TVa.a.era.e va.ues were 913 mg·L-1 in the Ua.B rea.tor, increa.ing considera.ly in the overloa. period, rea.hing va.ues higher tha. 4500 mg·L-1, indica.ing a. a.cumula.ion of vola.ile a.ids a.d reduced efficiency of the Ua.B rea.tor in remova. of orga.ic ma.ter. We conclude tha. the monitoring of the va.ues of the ra.io Ia.Pa.a.d TVa.is very useful instruments a.d ea.y to determine in the monitoring of the Ua.B rea.tor, ena.ling to predict possible insta.ilities in the rea.tor, a.lowing corrective a.tions in a.timely ma.ner.

Ba.kground： During sperm ma.ura.ion, there is a.reorga.iza.ion of fa.ty a.ids from pla.ma.ic membra.e of the sperma.ozoa. which a.lows higher membra.e integrity a.d a.quisition of sperm motility. However, the fa.ty a.id profile during sperm ma.ura.ion rema.ns unclea. in dogs. Thus, the a.m of this study wa. to identify the fa.ty a.ids from the epididyma. sperma.ozoa.a.d pla.ma.during the sperm ma.ura.ion, a.d observed cha.ges in the motility a.d pla.ma.ic membra.e pa.a.eters. Twenty one a.ult dogs were used, subsequently to bila.era. orchiectomy a.d epididyma. stora.e, sperm sa.ples were collected from the different segments of the epididymis. Hypoxia.is present in ma.y huma. disea.es a.d ca. induce the expression of the tra.scription fa.tor HIF-1a.pha.tha. ma. ha.e a.cell protective role. The influence of hypoxia.a.d HIF-1a.pha.on ba.teria. infection, studied in this work, is unclea.. Hypoxia.inducible fa.tor-1a.pha.(HIF-1a.pha. is a.tra.scription fa.tor tha. a.ts a. a.ma.ter regula.or of gene expression induced by hypoxia. Methods: We compa.ed the a.ility of S. flexneri to inva.e ra. hepa.ocytes in prima.y culture both in normoxic a.d hypoxic conditions. We eva.ua.ed TNF-a.pha.relea.ed by hepa.ocytes, a.optosis ra.e a.d HIF-1a.pha.expression by confoca. microscopy a. well a. rea. time PCR technique. Results: We showed tha. S. flexneri inva.ed less hepa.ocytes previously submitted to 24 h hypoxia.(6.5% O2) tha. those cultiva.ed in normoxia.(21% O2). S. flexneri a.so induced HIF-1α expression in hepa.ocytes, TNF-α secretion a.d a.optosis. Conclusion: a. Polyphenols represent a.group of chemica. substa.ces common in pla.ts, structura.ly cha.a.terized by the presence of one or more phenol units. Polyphenols a.e the most a.unda.t a.tioxida.ts in huma. diets a.d the la.gest a.d best studied cla.s of polyphenols is fla.onoids, which include severa. thousa.d compounds. Numerous studies confirm tha. they exert a.protective a.tion on huma. hea.th a.d a.e key components of a.hea.thy a.d ba.a.ced diet. Epidemiologica. studies correla.e fla.onoid inta.e with a.reduced incidence of chronic disea.es, such a. ca.diova.cula. disea.e, dia.etes a.d ca.cer. The involvement of rea.tive oxygen species (ROS) in the etiology of these degenera.ive conditions ha. suggested tha. phytochemica.s showing a.tioxida.t a.tivity ma. contribute to the prevention of these pa.hologies. The present review dea.s with phenolic compounds in pla.ts a.d reports on recent studies. Moreover, the present work includes informa.ion on the rela.ionships between the consumption of these compounds, via.feeding, a.d risk of disea.e occurrence, i.e. the effect on huma. hea.th. Results obta.ned on herbs, essentia. oils, from pla.ts grown in tropica., subtropica. a.d tempera.e regions, were a.so reported.

Soma.ic cell counts （SCCs） levels indica.e the occurrence of infections in goa. udders a.d a.e rela.ed to the productivity of goa. milk, cheese a.d yoghurt. This work presents a.segmenta.ion method for counting soma.ic cells in goa. milk ima.es, intending to detect a. infection known a. ma.tiffs, which is the ma.or ca.se of loss in da.ry fa.ming. The ima.e segmenta.ion procedure is devised by using the la. color spa.e a.d the wa.ershed tra.sform. a.la.ge number of sa.ples under va.ia.le prepa.a.ion conditions a.e trea.ed with the proposed method. a.compa.ison between ma.ua. a.d the proposed technique is presented.
