This paper describes a freely-available spread-sheet that has been developed to simulate the conditions of reaction rate, core acceleration and velocity, energy generation, and pressure within a detonating fission-bomb core. When applied to a model of the Hiroshima Little Boy bomb, the spreadsheet predicts a yield of 12.7 kilotons, a figure in reasonable agreement with published values.

中国以及全球范围的碳中和共识与行动标志着工业革命后形成的传统发展范式逐渐落幕,一个新的绿色发展范式开始兴起。本文分析工业革命以来旧有发展范式的不可持续性,揭示绿色发展范式在发展目的、发展内容、发展方式以及发展普适性上,是对传统发展范式的一次深刻革命。在新的绿色发展范式框架下,本文重新思考经济学的基本问题如价值理论、财富的内涵和测度,以及个人和集体行为等,分析新发展范式转变对于重塑中国重要经济部门和系统的政策含义,并讨论了转型过程中体制机制、金融和技术创新等方面的重要保障,以及如何实现协调和平衡的转型。本文同时提出中国如何引领世界碳中和治理机制建设,并讨论了同世界实现绿色合作共赢的机遇和政策。

BACKGROUND Above and beyond their role in cardiovascular risk reduction,statins appear to have a chemopreventive role in some gastro-intestinal *** the quest for new chemopreventive agents,some existing established drugs such as statins have shown potential for re-purposing as *** existing drugs,whose pharmacodynamics are familiar,for novel beneficial effects offers a more cost-effective and less time-consuming strategy than establishing brand new drugs whose pharmacodynamic profile is *** studies show statins decrease the risk of developing colorectal cancer but there are no published studies exploring the potential impact of statins on carcinogenesis in colorectal liver metastases(CRLM).AIM To evaluate impact of statins on outcomes of CRLM resection,and secondarily to assess if statins influence CRLM *** We conducted a retrospective cohort study of patients operated for CRLM over a 13-year period from 2005 to *** were identified from a prospective database maintained in our Tertiary care *** 586 patients included the study had undergone resection of CRLM following discussion at multidisclipinary team meeting,some patients requiring neoadjuvant chemotherapy to downstage CRLM prior to *** analysed patient demographics,operative details,CRLM histopathology,Index of Deprivation,neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio,platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio and chemotherapy use in relation to clinical *** were performed using SPSS version 16.0;significance taken at 5%.RESULTS Liver resection for CRLM was undertaken in 586 patients at a median age of 68(range 19 to 88)*** therapy was used by 181 *** follow-up time was 23(range 12-96)mo and further colorectal cancer metastases developed in 267 patients.A total of 131 patients ***-variate analysis identified 6 independent predictors of poorer disease-free survival:Synchronous presentation,multiple tumours,t

With the advent of the ‘digital revolution’ that has made possible services such as the world wide web, satellite broadcasting and mobile and trunk telephony, the finite RF spectrum allocated for terrestrial and satellite telecommunication systems is becoming increasingly crowded. This has impacted significantly upon the performance required from the microwave equipment that comprises these systems. In the case of microwave filters, greater in-band linearity to avoid signal distortion and out-of-band isolation to suppress interference are routinely specified, which can only be satisfied by advanced filtering characteristics. This article presents the coupling matrix approach to the synthesis of prototype filter networks, enabling the realization of the hardware embodying the enhanced performance needed by today’s high capacity systems.

One application of DNA-informed breeding,which has potential to increase the effectiveness of traditional breeding methods,is the use of DNAbased diagnostic tests to estimate genetic potential of breeding *** sweet cherry(Prunus avium L.),cracked or soft fruit are major industry *** research detected two quantitative trait loci(QTLs)for fruit cracking and firmness differing in trait levels associated with QTL haplotypic ***,a DNA test for cracking(Pav-G5Crack-SSR),using two simple sequence repeat(SSR)markers,was previously developed but not yet validated on breeding *** addition to SSR markers,single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP)markers can be used for developing locus-specific DNA tests and run as simple assays such as high-resolution melting(HRM).The objective of this research was to develop and evaluate the predictiveness of DNA tests for fruit cracking and firmness in sweet *** seedlings from pedigreeconnected families were screened with the Pav-G5Crack-SSR DNA *** tests were also created from four SNP markers with HRM assays,using two years of cracking and firmness data for ***-G5Crack-SSR explained 12–15%of the cracking phenotypic variance,while Pav-G1Crack-SNP and Pav-G5Crack-SNP(which targeted the same QTL as Pav-G5Crack-SSR)together explained 16%–30%of the cracking phenotypic ***-G1Firm-SNP and Pav-G3Firm-SNP together explained 22%–28%of the firmness phenotypic *** three DNA tests can be implemented in breeding programs to enhance effectiveness in breeding for decreased cracking incidence and increased fruit firmness in sweet cherry.
