Protein nanocages are ideal templates for the bio-inspired fabrication of nanomaterials due to several advantageous properties. During the mineralization of nanoparticles （NPs） inside protein nanocages, most studies have employed a common strategy： seed formation inside protein nanocages followed by seeded NP growth. However, the seed formation step is restricted to gentle reaction conditions to avoid damage to the protein nanocages, which may greatly limit the spectrum of seed materials used for NP growth. We put forward a simple route to circumvent such a limitation： encapsulation of a preformed NP as the seed via self-assembly, followed by the growth of an outer metal layer. Using such a method, we succeeded in mineralizing size-tunable Au NPs and Au@Ag core-shell NPs （〈10 nm in diameter） with narrow size distributions inside the virus-based NPs of simian virus 40. The present route enables the utilization of NPs synthesized under any conditions as the starting seeds for nanomaterial growth inside protein nanocages. Therefore, it potentially leads to novel bioinorganic chimeric nanomaterials with tailorable components and structures.

The well-distribution spindle Li Fe PO4(LFP)nanoparticles as cathode of lithium secondary batteries were synthesized by a solvothermal reaction route at low temperature(180 °c) in which the ascorbic acid was used as reducing agent. In order to guarantee that the p H values of thermal systems were not affected too much and the reducibility of the system was.enhanced at the same time,glucose was chosen as an auxiliary reductant in this reaction. The obtained powders were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD), scanning electron microscopy(sEM),and laser particle analyzer. The results show that the carbon-coated uniform spindle olivine Li Fe PO4/c-glucose particles(glucose as auxiliary reductant, LFP/c-G) are prepared with the size 500–600 nm and without any impurity phases. Their electrochemical properties were evaluated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy,cyclic voltammetry, and galvanostatic charge/discharge tests. LFP/c-G has a higher conductivity and better reversible capability than carbon-coated LFP(LFP/c). The highest discharge capacity of LFP/c-G is 161.3 mAh·g-1at0.1c and 108.6 mAh·g-1at 5.0c, respectively. The results imply that the neat crystal nanostructure of LFP/c-G has excellent capacity retention and cycling *** adding of glucose is the key factor for the welldistribution and neat crystal structure of nanoparticles,thus the electrochemical performances of materials are improved.

In this study,we developed a powder extruder system that can extrude and deposit powder mixtures to overcome the reported limitations of conventional dualpore scaffold manufacturing *** evaluate the extrusion and deposition capability of the powder extruder system,3D tissue-engineering scaffolds with dual-pore characteristics were fabricated with a PcL/PEO/Nacl(polycaprolactone/polyethylene oxide/sodium chloride)powder *** addition,to evaluate the fabricated scaffolds,their compressive modulus,morphology,and in-vitro cell activity were ***,it was confirmed that the proposed powder extruder system can fabricate dual-pore scaffolds with well-interconnected pores as well as arbitrary 3D shapes shown by the fabrication of a 3D femur-shape scaffold similar to the femur *** results of the cell proliferation and cell c.unting Kit-8(ccK-8)assays,DNA content analysis and viability assays confirm that the dual-pore scaffold fabricated by the powder extruder system improves cell attachment,proliferation,and viability.

understanding hydroclimatic patterns and their possible driving mechanisms during distinct climate periods over the last 1500 years—such as the Medieval Warm Period(MWP),the Little Ice Age(LIA),and the current Warm Period—is crucial for predicting future changes to monsoon precipitation in southwest china under global warming *** this study,based on ^(210)Pb and ^(137)cs dating of surface sediments and AMs ^(14)c dating of terrestrial plant residues,we establish a robust age model that covers the last~1500 years(AD 439–2012)at Lake Yihai in southwest *** use analyses of multiple geochemical proxy indices,including loss on ignition at 550℃,total organic carbon,total nitrogen,c/N ratios,and stable carbon isotopes of organic matter to reconstruct changes in summer monsoon precipitation at Lake Yihai during the last~1500 *** results show that,over southwest china,warm and dry climate conditions prevailed during the MWP(AD 1000–1400)and the past 200 years,whereas conditions during the LIA(AD 1400–1800)were cold and *** is consis.ent with evidence from other geological records over southwest china,such as stalagmite and lake sediment *** hydroclimatic patterns have occurred over the last 1500 years in adjacent tropical/subtropical monsoon regions where the climate is similarly dominated by the Indian summer monsoon(e.g.,south china,the south china sea,southeast Asia,Northeast India).We suggest that the meridional migration of the mean position of the Inter-tropical convergence Zone,and El Niño/southern Oscillation conditions which are linked to tropical Pacific sea surface temperature,are responsible for centennial-scale hydroclimatic patterns over southwest china and adjacent areas during the last 1500 years.
