The multiplexed,point-of-care measurement of specific antibodies could improve the speed with which diseases are diagnosed and their treatment *** this end,we are developing E-DNA scaffold sensors,which consist of a rigid,nucleic acid“scaffold”attached on one end to an electrode and presenting both a redox reporter and an epitope on the *** the absence of antibody,the reporter efficiently transfers electrons when interrogated ***-induced steric hindrance limits movement,reducing electron transfer in a manner that is both easily measured and quantitatively related to target *** we have used monoclonal antibodies to explore the analytical performance of E-DNA sensors,showing that they support the rapid,single-step,quantitative detection of multiple antibodies in small volume ***,in contrast,we employ authentic human samples to better explore the platform’s clinical ***,we developed E-DNA sensors targeting three HIV-specific antibodies and then compared the analytical and clinical performance of these against those of gold standard serological *** so we find that,although the multistep amplification of an ELISA leads to a lower detection limits,the clinical sensitivity of ELISAs,E-DNA sensors and lateral-flow dipsticks are indistinguishable across our test *** thus appears that,by merging the quantitation and multiplexing of ELISAs with the convenience and speed of dipsticks,E-DNA scaffold sensors could significantly improve on current serological practice.

There is evidence that a substantial part of genetic predisposition to prostate cancer （Pca） may be due to lower penetrance genes which are found by genome-wide association studies. We have recently conducted such a study and seven new regions of the genome linked to Pca risk have been identified. Three of these loci contain candidate susceptibility genes： MSMB, LMTK2 and KLK2/3. The MSMB and KLK2/3 genes may be useful for Pca screening, and the LMTK2 gene might provide a potential therapeutic target. Together with results from other groups, there are now 23 germline genetic variants which have been reported. These results have the potential to be developed into a genetic test. However, we consider that marketing of tests to the public is premature, as Pca risk can not be evaluated fully at this stage and the appropriate screening protocols need to be developed. Follow-up validation studies, as well as studies to explore the psychological implications of genetic profile testing, will be vital prior to roll out into healthcare.

Studies on habitat use have often helped explain observed variation in morphology,behavior and reproductive characteristics among populations within a single *** we analyze morphological and ecological characteristics of individuals from the Sceloporus grammicus species complex from 7 different localities(cER,El cerezo;PAc,Pachuca;HUI,Huichapan;EZA,Emiliano Zapata;SMR,San Miguel Regla;LMJ,La Mojonera;and LMZ,La Manzana)in the state of Hidalgo,and one locality(cahuacán)in the State of Mexico.A canonical correspondence analysis(ccA)showed that females from PAc,EZA,LMZ,HUI,SMR and cAH populations use similar microhabitats characterized mostly by bare soil,in females from LMJ and cER use microhabitats characterized primarily by vegetation and *** were observed using 12 different types of *** regard to perch height use,the ccA showed that females from PAc,LMJ,LMZ,SMR,cER and cAH populations were correlated with height to nearest perch(HNP),in the rest of the females were not related to any perch use *** contrast,the ccA showed that males from PAc,LMJ and cAH were characterized by microhabitats with higher vegetal coverage,while males from LMZ and cER used microhabitats composed of bare soil,but males from HUI and SMR populations used microhabitats composed chiefly of bare soil and *** respect to perch height use,the ccA showed that males from PAc,LMJ,EZA and LMZ were correlated with distance to the nearest perch,but the rest of the males were not correlated with any perch use *** were observed in 9 different perch *** males were larger than the females in all morphological variables ***,in both sexes the snout-vent length is positively correlated with all morphological variables,and although both the slope and ordinate of the origin of all morphological variables were larger in males than females,the analysis of covariance indicated that there is no increase in the morphological variables with inc

The past literature on pernicious and allied anemias in infancy was rather confused and the conditions had not been properly recognised and classified. True addisonian pernicious anemia in infancy is undoubtedly an extreme rarity. In 1946 Peterson and Dunn (1) accepted, according to their criteria, only 3 reported cases as genuine and added one of their own. Other cases, similar but not true pernicious anemia, had been reported under various titles, such as "macrocytic hyperchromic anemia in early infancy" (2), "severe functional anemia resembling pernicious anemia of adults" (3), "nutritional anemia in infants responding to purified liver extract," (4) etc. Zuelzer and ogden in 1946 attempted to define, on pathogenetic basis, an anemia which they termed "Megaloblastic Anemia in Infancy" (5). Later, the same group of workers have contributed further articles (6, 7, 8) dealing with the various clinico-pathological aspects of this syndrome. Since this condition has not gained wide recognition and has not as yet been reported from this country, we consider the following case worthy of communication.
