SOIL erosion in the hilly region of Shanxi and Shaanxi provinces is very severe, and unreason-able land use is the main reason. There have been many research reports on the prediction ofsoil erosion, and most of them use regression methods. The resulting co-relative equations areused to predict small-scale erosion of fields or farms and to select agricultural measures.

The nonlinear behaviors of plane coupled motions for a given two-point tension mooring system, are discussed in the present paper. For a cylinder moored by two taut lines under the action of gravity, buoyance and forces due to wave-current and mooring lines, a mathematical model of motions with three degrees of freedom is established. The steady solution and stability are analyzed. By integrating the equations of motions, history, phase map and Poincare map are obtained. The Liapunov exponents are also computed. The numerical results show that: the horizontal movement will increase, and stability will also increase as the steady force increases. The amplitude of responses will decrease as time-dependent forces decrease. Because of the geometric nonlinearity, there exist many windows bifurcating to pseudo-periodic or multi-periodic solution. The bifurcating patterns may be different. The behaviors are very complex. Under wave excitation alone, the motions are nonsymmetrical but still symmetrical statistically.

Elapsed time of serrations in AI-Li single crystals was investigated with two definitions: one is the time elapsed in one cycle of serrations, the other is the average elapsed time within a strain limit. Elapsed time of individual serration appears independent on stress drops during serrated flow. It primarily distributes within the limits of short elapsed time in peak aged condition compared with underaged and overaged conditions, corresponding to low level of the average elapsed time that appears indifferent to increasing strain. It seems that shearing behaviour of delta' particles could be responsible for the variations in elapsed time of serrations.

To the Editor:Biliary stricture formation at the bilioenteric anastomosis is an infrequent complication(2%-3%)after pancreaticoduodenectomy;the average presentation is within 13-14 months(range from 1 month to 9 years)after surgery[1,2].While the etiology is unknown,development of biliary stricture has shown to be more likely if a bile leak occurs in the postoperative period[3,4]and with younger patients[5].

AIM： To investigate the safety and efficacy of the formulation HD-03/ES capsules in the management of patients with chronic hepatitis B infection.METHODS： A total of 25 patients were recruited to the study and were given HD-03/ES, two capsules twice daily for six months. clinical assessment of symptoms and signs were done using the ＂clinical observation table＂ once a month before and after the treatment. Biochemical investigations of total bilirubin, ALT, AST, serum protein for liver function tests were done every month after initiating treatment. Serum was analyzed for HBV markers for HBsAg, HBeAg and HBV DNA at baseline, 4 and 6 mo alter therapy using ELISA kits from Roche.RESULTS： After 6 mo of therapy with HD-03/ES, a significant reduction of ALT values from 66.5 ± 11.1 to 39.1 ± 5.2 （P 〈 0.01） and a significant HBsAg loss （52%, P 〈 0.001）, HBeAg loss （60%, P 〈 0.05） and HBV DNA loss （60%, P 〈 0.05） was observed. Adverse effects were mild and never warranted withdrawal of the drug.cONcLUSION： The results of this pilot study indicate that HD-03/ES might be a safe and effective treatment for chronic hepatitis B infection and a long-term multicentric comparator trial is warranted and under way.

continuous monitoring of bed shear stress in large river systems may serve to better estimate alluvial sediment transport to the coastal *** we explore the possibility of using a horizontally deployed acoustic Doppler current profiler(ADcP) to monitor bed shear stress,applying a prescribed boundary layer model,previously used for discharge *** model parameters include the local roughness length and a dip correction factor to account for sidewall *** these parameters depend on river stage and on the position in the cross-section, and were estimated from shipborne ADcP *** applied the calibrated boundary layer model to obtain bed shear stress estimates over the measuring range of the *** validate the results,co-located coupled ADcPs were used to infer bed shear stress,both from Reynolds stress profiles and from mean velocity profiles. From HADcP data collected over a period of 1.5 years,a time series of width profiles of bed shear stress was obtained for a tidal reach of the Mahakam River,East Kalimantan,Indonesia.A smaller dataset covering 25 hours was used for comparison with results from the coupled *** bed shear stress estimates derived from Reynolds stress profiles appeared to be strongly affected by local effects causing upflow and downflow,which are not included in the boundary layer model used to derive bed shear stress with the horizontal *** shear stresses from the coupled ADcP are representative of a much more localized flow,while those derived with the horizontal ADcP resemble the net effect of the flow over larger *** shear stresses obtained from mean velocity profiles from the coupled ADcPs show a good agreement between the two methods,and highlight the robustness of the method to uncertainty in the estimates of the roughness length.

Up to a quarter of polyps and adenomas are missed during colonoscopy due to poor visualization behind folds and the inner curves of flexures, and the presence of flat lesions that are difficult to detect. These numbers may however be conservative because they mainly come from back-to-back studies performed with standard colonoscopes, which are unable to visualize the entire mucosal surface. In the past several years, new endoscopic techniques have been introduced to improve the detection of polyps and adenomas. The introduction of high definition colonoscopes and visual image enhancement technologies have been suggested to lead to better recognition of flat and small lesions, but the absolute increase in diagnostic yield seems limited. cap assisted colonoscopy and water-exchange colonoscopy are methods to facilitate cecal intubation and increase patients comfort, but show only a marginal or no benefit on polyp and adenoma detection. Retroflexion is routinely used in the rectum for the inspection of the dentate line, but withdrawal in retroflexion in the colon is in general not recommended due to the risk of perforation. In contrast, colonoscopy with the Third-Eye Retroscope® may result in considerable lower miss rates compared to standard colonoscopy, but this technique is not practical in case of polypectomy and is more time consuming. The recently introduced Full Spectrum Endoscopy™ colonoscopes maintains the technical capabilities of standard colonoscopes and provides a much wider view of 330 degrees compared to the 170 degrees with standard colonoscopes. Remarkable lower adenoma miss rates with this new technique were recently demonstrated in the first randomized study. Nonetheless, more studies are required to determine the exact additional diagnostic yield in clinical practice. Optimizing the efficacy of colorectal cancer screening and surveillance requires high definition colonoscopes with improved virtual chromoendoscopy technology

A new amorphous Al(87.3)Fe(4.3)V(0.7)Si(1.7)Mm(6.0)(Mm: misch metal) was prepared by using melt-spinning technique. Differential scanning calorimetry (DSc), X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and energy dispersive X-ray (EDX) have been used to investigate the crystallization behaviour of this amorphous alloy. It is found that the crystallization process can be concluded as follows: amorphous --> amorphous plus fcc-Al --> fcc-Al plus Al-11(La,ce)(3) plus i-phase (icosahedral) --> fee-Al plus Al-11(La,ce)(3) plus i-phase plus ic-phase (icosahedral compounds). The results of microhardness measurement show that HV values are higher than those in AI-Fe-V-Si based alloy, and the maximum HV value corresponds to the coexisting of nanoscale Al particles and i-phase.

The muscle protein myosin binding protein c (MyBPc) is a large multi-domain protein whose role in the sarcomere is complex and not yet fully understood. Mutations in MyBPc are strongly associated with the heart disease familial hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (FHc) and these experiments of nature have provided some insight into the intricate workings of this protein in the heart. While some regions of the MyBPc molecule have been assigned a function in the regulation of muscle contraction, the interaction of other regions with various parts of the myosin molecule and the sarcomeric proteins, actin and titin, remain obscure. In addition, several intra-domain interactions between adjacent MyBPc molecules have been identified. Although the basic structure of the molecule (a series of immunoglobulin and fibronectin domains) has been elucidated, the assembly of MyBPc in the sarcomere is a topic for debate. By analysing the MyBPc sequence with respect to FHc-causing mutations it is possible to identify individual
