The global concerns of energy crisis and climate change,primarily caused by carbon dioxide(cO_(2)),are of utmost ***,the electrocatalytic cO_(2) reduction reaction(cO_(2)RR) to high value-added multi-carbon(c_(2+)) products driven by renewable electricity has emerged as a highly promising solution to alleviate energy shortages and achieve carbon *** these c_(2+) products,ethylene(c_(2)H_(4))holds particular importance in the petrochemical ***,this review aims to establish a connection between the fundamentals of electrocatalytic cO_(2) reduction reaction to ethylene(cO_(2)RRto-c_(2)H_(4)) in laboratory-scale research(lab) and its potential applications in industrial-level fabrication(fab).The review begins by summarizing the fundamental aspects,including the design strategies of high-performance cu-based electrocatalysts and advanced electrolyzer ***,innovative and value-added techniques are presented to address the inherent challenges encountered during the implementations of cO_(2)RR-to-c_(2)H_(4) in industrial ***,case studies of the technoeconomic analysis of the cO_(2)RR-to-c_(2)H_(4) process are discussed,taking into factors such as costeffectiveness,scalability,and market *** review concludes by outlining the perspectives and challenges associated with scaling up the cO_(2)RR-to-c_(2)H_(4) *** insights presented in this review are expected to make a valuable contribution in advancing the cO_(2)RR-to-c_(2)H_(4) process from lab to fab.

Discontinuous phase diagram of amorphous carbons

The short-range order and medium-range order of amorphous carbons demonstrated in experiments allow us to rethink whether there exist intrinsic properties hidden by atomic disordering. Here we presented six representative phases of amorphous carbons（0.1–3.4 g/cm3）, namely, disordered graphene network（DGn）, high-density amorphous carbon（HDAc）, amorphous diaphite（a-DG）, amorphous diamond（a-D）, paracrystalline diamond（p-D）, and nano-polycrystalline diamond（nPD）, respectively, classified by their topological features and microstructural characterizations that are comparable with experiments. To achieve a comprehensive physical landscape for amorphous carbons, a phase diagram was plotted in the sp3/sp2versus density plane, in which the counterintuitive discontinuity originates from the inherent difference in topological microstructures, further guiding us to discover a variety of phase transitions among different amorphous carbons. Intriguingly, the power law, log（sp3/sp2） ∝ ρn, hints at intrinsic topology and hidden order in amorphous carbons, providing an insightful perspective to reacquaint atomic disorder in non-crystalline carbons.

Polio eradication surveillance in Sri Lanka,2019-2023

Objective:To evaluate the polio laboratory surveillance carried out from January,2019 to May,2023 by the Polio Regional Reference Laboratory,Sri ***:This retrospective study analyzed all stool samples received under the acute flaccid paralysis(AFP)and immunodeficient vaccine-derived poliovirus(VDPV)surveillance at Polio Regional Reference Laboratory,Sri Lanka from January,2019 to May,*** results of the testing methodologies were extracted from the laboratory data system,i.e.,poliovirus virus isolation,intra-typic differentiation/VDPV real time reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction(ITD/VDPV rRTPcR)and sequencing,along with the data on timing of reporting results,stool adequacy and *** was analyzed using descriptive ***:A total of 2141 stool samples from 1644 cases were received for AFP surveillance from Sri Lanka(93.61%),Maldives(1.52%),and immunodeficient VDPV(4.86%)*** polioviruses(19/1644,1.15%)and non-polio enteroviruses(73/1644,4.44%)were isolated,while Sabin-like 3 virus was detected in majority(12/19,63.15%)among the poliovirus *** polioviruses or circulating VDPVs were not detected among the *** all years of the study,the non-polio AFP detection rate was>1/100000 in children aged less than 15 years,whereas stool adequacy rate was>80%.All results were reported within 14 days of receipt,ensuring timely reporting as per global ***:The Polio Regional Reference Laboratory,Sri Lanka plays a vital role in maintaining the polio-free status in the country through its robust laboratory surveillance,while adhering to the surveillance ***-detection of wild polioviruses and circulating VDPV during the study period reinforces the polio-free status in the country.

Facilitating prelithiation of silicon carbon anode by localized high-concentration electrolyte for high-rate and long-cycle lithium storage

The commercialization of silicon-based anodes is affected by their low initial coulombic efficiency(IcE)and capacity decay,which are attributed to the formation of an unstable solid electrolyte interface(SEI)***,a feasible and cost-effective prelithiation method under a localized highconcentration electrolyte system(LHcE)for the silicon-silica/graphite(Si-SiO_(2)/c@G)anode is designed for stabilizing the SEI layer and enhancing the *** thin SiO_(2)/c layers with-nH2 groups covered on nano-Si surfaces are demonstrated to be beneficial to the prelithiation process by density functional theory calculations and electrochemical *** SEI formed under LHcE is proven to be rich in ionic conductivity,inorganic substances,and flexible organic ***,faster Li+transportation across the SEI further enhances the prelithiation effect and the rate performance of Si-SiO_(2)/c@G *** also leads to uniform decomposition and high stability of the SEI with abundant organic *** a result,the prepared anode shows a high reversible specific capacity of 937.5 mAh g^(-1)after 400 cycles at a current density of 1 *** 811‖Li-SSGLHcE full cell achieves a high-capacity retention of 126.15 mAh g^(-1)at 1 c over 750 cycles with 84.82%IcE,indicating the great value of this strategy for Si-based anodes in large-scale applications.

cerebral autosomal dominant arteriopathy with subcortical infarcts and leukoencephalopathy (cADASIL) is a monogenic small vessel disease caused by mutations in the nOTcH3 gene. However, the pathogenesis of cADASIL remains unclear, and patients have limited treatment options. Here, we use human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPScs) generated from the peripheral blood mononuclear cells of a patient with cADASIL carrying a heterozygous nOTcH3 mutation (c.1261c>T, p.R421c) to develop a disease model. The correction efficiency of different adenine base editors (ABEs) is tested using the HEK293T-nOTcH3 reporter cell line. ABEmax is selected based on its higher efficiency and minimization of predicted off-target effects. Vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMcs) differentiated from cADASIL hiPScs show nOTcH3 deposition and abnormal actin cytoskeleton structure, and the abnormalities are recovered in corrected hiPSc-derived VSMcs. Furthermore, cADASIL blood vessel organoids generated for in vivo modeling show altered expression of genes related to disease phenotypes, including the downregulation of cell adhesion, extracellular matrix organization, and vessel development. The dual adeno-associated virus (AAV) split-ABEmax system is applied to the genome editing of vascular organoids with an average editing efficiency of 8.82%. collectively, we present potential genetic therapeutic strategies for patients with cADASIL using blood vessel organoids and the dual AAV split-ABEmax system.

Phase field modeling of grain stability of nanocrystalline alloys by explicitly incorporating mismatch strain

Ab st ra ct nanocrystalline materials exhibit unique properties due to their extremely high grain boundary(GB) ***,this high-density characteristic induces grain coarsening at elevated temperatures,thereby limiting the widespread application of nanocrystalline *** experimental observations revealed that GB segregation and second-phase pinning effectively hinder GB migration,thereby improving the stability of nanocry stalline *** this study,a mouified phase-field model that integrates mismatch strain,solute segregation and precipitation was developed to evaluate the influence of lattice misfit on the thermal stability of nanocrystalline *** simulation results indicated that introducing a suitable mismatch strain can effectively enhance the microstructural stability of nanocrystalline *** synergizing precipitation with an appropriate lattice misfit,the formation of second-phase particles in the bulk grains can be suppressed,thereby facilitating solute segregation/precipitation at the *** concentrated solute segregation and precipitation at the GBs effectively hinders grain migration,thereby preventing grain *** findings provide a new perspective on the design and regulation of nanocrystalline alloys with enhanced thermal stability.

“如果”句的语义结构和用法复杂多样,但学界对该结构的功能类型分析过于笼统。文章通过语料库梳理书面语中“如果”句的结构特点和语篇关系,对其进行了功能分类。从功能视角看,“如果”句在知识域、语言域和人际域中分别发挥前提限定、语篇建构和会话修辞等功能。根据从句和主句的意义关系,“如果”句可以分为蕴含条件句和非蕴含条件句。各类“如果”句的功能各有句法语义特征。从各类“如果”句的用法分布看,“如果”句的主要功能是表达推理关系,其次是语篇关系,再次是话语修辞。
