contrasting multiple organisms with similar contemporary distributions, researchers can identify shared evolutionary patterns and provide historical context for community composition. We used three species complexes with overlapping distributions in Southeastern china and surrounding islands to explore the phylogeographic history of the region. Despite similar geographic distributions, genetic data revealed few congruent patterns, but all complexes displayed genetic divergence for Taiwan Residents populations. Additionally, niche modeling and divergence dating did not find support for diversification associated with the Last Glacial Maximum [current Zoology 61 （5）： 943-950,2015].

Mesenchymal stromal cells (MScs) are multipotent and self-renewing cells that reside essentially in the bone marrow as a non-hematopoietic cell population, but may also be isolated from the connective tissues of most organs. MScs represent a heterogeneous population of adult, fibroblast-like cells characterized by their ability to differentiate into tissues of mesodermal lineages including adipocytes, chondrocytes and osteocytes. For several years now, MScs have been evaluated for their in vivo and in vitro immunomodulatory and ‘tissue reconstruction’ properties, which could make them interesting in various clinical settings, and particularly in organ transplantation. This paper aims to review current knowledge on the properties of MScs and their use in pre-clinical and clinical studies in solid organ transplantation, and particularly in the field of liver transplantation. The first available clinical data seem to show that MScs are safe to use, at least in the medium-term, but more time is needed to evaluate the potential adverse effects of long-term use. Many issues must be resolved on the correct use of MScs. Intensive in vitro and pre-clinical research are the keys to a better understanding of the way that MScs act, and to eventually lead to clinical success.

Laser diodes(LDs)have been considered as cost-effective and compact excitation sources to overcome the requirement of costly and bulky pulsed laser sources that are commonly used in photoacoustic microscopy(PAM).However,the spatial resolution and/or imaging speed of previously reported LD-based PAM systems have not been optimized *** this paper,we developed a high-speed and high-resolution LD-based PAM system using a continuous wave LD,operating at a pulsed mode,with a repetition rate of 30 kHz,as an excitation source.A hybrid scanning mechanism that synchronizes a one-dimensional galvanometer mirror and a two-dimensional motorized stage is applied to achieve a fast imaging capability without signal averaging due to the high signal-to-noise *** optimizing the optical system,a high lateral resolution of 4.8μm has been *** vivo microvasculature imaging of a mouse ear has been demonstrated to show the high performance of our LD-based PAM system.

The Raman spectra of the natural end members of the garnet-group minerals, which include pyrope, almandine and spessarite of Fe-Al garnet series and grossularite, andradite and uvarovite of ca-Fe garnet series, have been studied. Measured Raman spectra of these minerals are reasonably and qualitatively assigned to the intemal modes, translational and rotatory modes of SiO4 tetrahedra,as well as the translational motion of bivalent cations in the X site. The stretch and rotatory Alg modes for the Fe-Al garnet series show obvious Raman shifts as compared with those for the ca-Fe garnet series, owing to the cations residing in the X site connected with SiO4 tetrahedra by sharing the two edges. The Raman shifts of all members within either of the series are attributed mainly to the properties of cations in the X site for the Fe-Al garnet series and in the Y site for the ca-Fe gamet series.

The fifth generation(5G)of wireless networks features three core use cases,namely ultra-reliable and low latency communications(URLLc),massive machine type communications(mMTc),and enhanced mobile broadband(eMBB).These use cases co-exist in many practical scenarios and compete for the same set of time and frequency resources,resulting in a natural trade-off in their *** this paper,a network supporting both URLLc and eMBB modes of operation is *** guarantee the ultra low latency requirement of URLLc,a dynamic resource allocation scheme indicated by a two-dimensional bitmap is *** approach is capable to achieve finer granularity as well as lower false cancellation rate compared to the state-of-the-art methods.A novel power control and indication method is also proposed to dynamically provide different power control parameters to the user equipment(UE),while guaranteeing the reliability requirement of URLLc and minimizing the impact to *** addition,we devise a dynamic selection mechanism(DSM)to accommodate diverse scenarios,which is empowered with load prediction to become more *** extensive system-level simulation results for eMBB-URLLc co-existence scenarios showcase that the perceived throughput of eMBB UEs is increased by 45.3%,while about 13.3% more UEs are enjoying URLLc services with at most 84% transmit power savings compared to the state-of-the-art methods.

Imaging of both benign and malignant anorectal diseases has traditionally posed a challenge to clinicians, and as a result history and physical exam have been relied on heavily. cT scanning and endorectal ultrasound have become popular in assessment of anatomy and staging of tumors, but have limitations. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has the capability to fill in the gaps left open by more conventional imaging modalities and continues to be promising as the definitive imaging technique in the pelvis, especially with advancement of emerging technologies in this field. A comprehensive review of this topic has been undertaken. Anorectal disease is divided into three broad categories: cancer, fistula/abscess, and pelvic floor disorders. A review of the literature is performed to evaluate the use of MRI and other imaging modalities in these three areas. Preoperative imaging is useful in the evaluation of all three areas of anorectal disease. MRI is an effective tool in delineating anatomy and, when correlating with the specific clinical scenario, is an effective adjunct in clinical decision-making in order to optimize outcome. MRI continues to be a promising and novel approach to imaging various afflictions of the anorectum and the pelvic floor. Its role is more well-established in some areas than in others, and there are still signif icant limitations. As technology advances, MRI will shed more light on a complex anatomical area.

This work investigates frequency distributions of strings within a text. The mathematical derivation accounts for variable alphabet size, character probabilities, and string/text lengths, under both the Bernoullian and the Markovian model for string generation. The analysis is limited to the set of nonclumpable strings, that cannot overlap with them selves. Two formulae （exact and approximated） are derived, calculating the frequency distribution of a string of length m found inside a text of length n （with m 〈： n）. The approximated formula has a constant complexity （in contrast to an exponential com plexity of the exact） and makes it applicable to very long texts. The proposed formulae were applied to analyze string frequencies in a portion of the human genome, and to recalculate frequencies of known repeated motif within genes, associated to genetic dis eases. A comparison with stateoftheart methods was provided. The formulae presentedhere can be of use in the statistical evaluation of specific motif frequencies within very long texts （e.g. genes or genomes） and help in characterizing motifs in pathologic conditions.

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is one of the most common gastrointestinal disorders causing patients to seek medical treatment. It is relatively resource intensive and the source of significant morbidity. Recent insights into the pathophysiology and treatment of IBS has given clinicians more options than ever to contend with this disorder. The purpose of our paper is to review older, “classic” treatments for IBS as well as newer agents and “alternative” therapies. We discuss the evidence base of these drugs and provide context to help develop appropriate treatment plans for IBS patients.
