Preparation of wood-based hydrogel membranes for efficient purification of complex wastewater using a reconstitution strategy

To avoid resource wastage and secondary environmental pollution,recycling and reusing waste wood powder is still a great ***,the poor viscosity and irregular pore size of wood powder limit its practical *** study,employed a green and convenient wood powder reconstitution strategy to achieve highly adhesive bonding and pore size control between wood powder particles,thus preparing a high-strength and super hydrophilic wood powder *** wood powder fibers were partially dissolved and regenerated to create a reconstituted wood powder hydrogel membrane,using waste wood powder as the raw *** wood powder reconstitution strategy offers advantages such as environmental friendliness,simplicity,cost-effectiveness,and strong ***,the materials exhibit excellent self-cleaning properties and *** by gravity,the membrane can purify oily wastewater and ***,the reconstitution strategy offers a new pathway for recycling wood powder.

When benefiting other beneficiaries,cushion plants may reciprocally receive feedback *** feedback effects on different sex morphs,however,remains *** this study,taking the gynodioecious Arenaria polytrichiodes as a model species,we aimed to assess the sex-specific facilitation intensity of cushion plant by measuring the beneficiary cover ratio,and to assess the potential costs in cushion reproductive functions by measuring the flower and fruit cover *** total beneficiary cover ratio was similar between females and *** produced much less flowers but more fruits than *** results suggested that females and hermaphrodites possess similar facilitation intensity,and female cushion *** may allocate more resources saved from pollen production to seed production,while hermaphrodites possibly allocate more resources to pollen production hence reducing seed *** surface areas covered by beneficiaries produced less flowers and fruits than areas without *** addition,strong negative correlations between beneficiary cover and flower cover were detected for both females and hermaphrodites,but the correlation strength were similar for these two sex ***,the correlation between beneficiary cover and fruit cover was only significantly negative for females,suggesting that beneficiary plants negatively affect fruit reproduction of females while have neutral effects on *** the results suggest that to facilitate other beneficiaries can induce reproductive costs on cushion ***,with females possibly suffering greater cost than *** differentiation in reproductive costs between sex morphs,in long-term perspective,may imply sex imbalance in population dynamics.

Food security has been long understudied in the context of central *** present an analysis examining household-level food demand for Tajikistan and assessing the magnitude of its food security changes during the cOVID-19 *** on an extensive household survey data set from Tajikistan,we estimate the expenditure,income,and price elasticities for nine food categories using the QUAIDS ***,we develop a microsimulation model using the estimated elasticities to assess the dual impact of declining remittance income and rising food prices stemming from the pandemic *** are significant differences in demand elasticities across food groups,with high elasticities observed for nutritious foods,such as meat,fruit,eggs,and milk,in rural ***,our findings show that changes in remittance income and food prices significantly negatively affected food security for rural households during the cOVID-19 *** findings have important implications for policymakers concerned about rural livelihoods and food security in remittance-receiving economies during the post-pandemic period.

TiO_(2)has been explored in hybrid magnesium-lithium batteries(HMLBs)due to the advantages of low self-discharge and small volume expansion during ion ***,how to improve the inherently low ionic and electrical conductivity of TiO_(2)is the problem that needs to be *** this work,a smart strategy is adopted to prepare cobalt-doped TiO_(2)@c(co^(4+)-TiO_(2)@c)hierarchical nanocomposite derived from co(II)(OH)n@*** with TiO_(2)@c(without cobalt doping),co^(4+)-TiO_(2)@c shows the highest specific capacity(154.7 mAh·g^(-1)at 0.1 A·g^(-1)after 200 cycles)and extraordinary rate performance in *** excellent electrochemical performance of co4+-TiO_(2)@c is ascribed to the synergistic effect of the hierarchical structure and *** experimental results and density functional theory(DFT)calculation reveal that the cobalt-doping has effectively improved the electronic conductivity and reduced the Li+migration *** work provides a new insight to design TiO_(2)-based cathode materials with high-performance in HMLBs.

Due to the non-linearity in ozone(O_(3))formation,reducing the emission of nitrogen oxides(NO_(x))may increase O_(3) *** the counteractive O_(3) response to NO_(x) reduction,overall impact of air pollution controls can be ambiguous when the assessments focus on the changes in pollutant *** this study,a risk-based method was used to gauge the net effect of air pollution controls on mortality risk in the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei(BTH)region during the 2022 Winter Olympics and Paralympics(WOP).This mega-event presents a unique opportunity to investigate the efficacy of deep cuts in pollutant *** show that O_(3) concentrations greatly increased as nitrogen dioxide(NO_(2))concentrations decreased in the *** to the active photochemical formations,O_(3) became the dominant pollutant that affected human health during the *** the substantial O_(3) increases,the health benefits of NO_(2) reductions overwhelmed the adverse health effects of O_(3) increases in most regions of the BTH(at 81 out of 112 stations).After considering the impacts of particulate matter,the integrated health risk of air pollution mixtures declined almost everywhere in the *** results underscore the great necessity of changing the assessment paradigm of pollution control from using concentration-based methods to using risk-based *** with the carbon neutrality policy,stringent control of NO_(x)emission from combustion sources is a promising way to achieve synergistic control solutions for air pollution and climate change.

Direct methanol fuel cells(DMFc) are widely considered to be an ideal green energy conversion device but their widespread applications are limited by the high price of the Pt-based catalysts and the instability in terms of surface cO toxicity in long-term ***,the PtFe alloy nanoparticles(NPs) with small particle size(~4.12 nm) supported on carbon black catalysts with different Pt/Fe atomic ratios(Pt_(1)Fe_(2)/c,Pt_(3)Fe_(4)/c,Pt_(1)Fe_(1)/c,and Pt_(2)Fe_(1)/c) are successfully prepared for enhanced anti-cO poisoning during methanol oxidation reaction(MOR).The optimal atomic ratio of Pt/Fe for the MOR is 1:2,and the mass activity of Pt_(1)Fe_(2)/c(5.40 A mg_(Pt)^(-1)) is 13.5 times higher than that of conventional commercial Pt/c(Pt/c-JM)(0.40 A mg_(Pt)^(-1)).The introduction of Fe into the Pt lattice forms the PtFe alloy phase,and the electron density of Pt is reduced after forming the PtFe ***-situ Fourier transform infrared results indicate that the addition of oxyphilic metal Fe has reduced the adsorption of reactant molecules on Pt during the *** doping of Fe atoms helps to desorb toxic intermediates and regenerate Pt active sites,promoting the cleavage of c-O bonds with good selectivity of cO_(2)(58.1%).Moreover,the Pt_(1)Fe_(2)/c catalyst exhibits higher cO tolerance,methanol electrooxidation activity,and long-term stability than other Pt_(x)Fe_(y)/c catalysts.
