Drought events have become more severe under climate change,and this can pose a major threat to the survival of various *** molecular mechanisms involved in dehydration resistance are not well ***,adults of the migratory locust,Locusta migratoria,were subjected to food-mediated dehydration,and adipokinetic hormone(AKH)signaling was found to play a key role in regulating dehydration ***,dehydration shortened the lifespan,increased the body weight loss,and reduced the water loss rate in adult *** transcriptome profiles revealed variations in tissue-specific gene expression between dehydration-resistant locusts and normal ***,dehydration selection and exposure induced prominent expression of AKH genes in the retrocerebral complex of adult ***,individual knockdown of AKH1,AKH2,or AKH receptor(AKHR)accelerated water loss and shortened the lifespan of adult locusts under dehydration conditions,and trehalose supplementation ameliorated the negative effects caused by interference with AKH or *** findings demonstrated that AKH/AKHR signaling-dependent trehalose metabolism plays a crucial role in regulating locust dehydration resistance and thus provide novel insights into the regulatory mechanism underlying drought resistance.

BAcKGROUND The study on predicting the differentiation grade of colorectal cancer(cRc)based on magnetic resonance imaging(MRI)has not been reported *** a non-invasive model to predict the differentiation grade of cRc is of great *** To develop and validate machine learning-based models for predicting the differ-entiation grade of cRc based on T2-weighted images(T2WI).METHODS We retrospectively collected the preoperative imaging and clinical data of 315 patients with cRc who underwent surgery from March 2018 to July *** were randomly assigned to a training cohort(n=220)or a validation cohort(n=95)at a 7:3 *** were delineated layer by layer on high-resolution *** absolute shrinkage and selection operator regression was applied to screen for radiomic *** and clinical models were constructed using the multilayer perceptron(MLP)*** radiomic features and clinically relevant variables(selected based on a significance level of Pconstruct radiomics-clinical *** performance of the three models(clinical,radiomic,and radiomic-clinical model)were evaluated using the area under the curve(AUc),calibration curve and decision curve analysis(DcA).RESULTS After feature selection,eight radiomic features were retained from the initial 1781 features to construct the radiomic *** different classifiers,including logistic regression,support vector machine,k-nearest neighbours,random forest,extreme trees,extreme gradient boosting,light gradient boosting machine,and MLP,were used to construct the model,with MLP demonstrating the best diagnostic *** AUc of the radiomic-clinical model was 0.862(95%cI:0.796-0.927)in the training cohort and 0.761(95%cI:0.635-0.887)in the validation *** AUc for the radiomic model was 0.796(95%cI:0.723-0.869)in the training cohort and 0.735(95%cI:0.604-0.866)in the validation *** clinical model achieved an AUc of 0.7

The top goal of modern medicine is treating disease without destroying organ structures and making patients as healthy as they were before their *** invasive surgery(MIS)has dominated the surgical realm because of its lesser ***,changes in anatomical structures of the body and reconstruction of internal organs or different organs are common after traditional surgery or MIS,decreasing the quality of life of patients ***,I propose a new treatment mode,super MIS(SMIS),which is defined as“curing a disease or lesion which used to be treated by MIS while preserving the integrity of the organs”.In this study,I describe the origin,definition,operative channels,advantages,and future perspectives of SMIS.

BiVO_(4)is one of the most promising photoanode materials for photoelectrochemical(PEc)solar energy conversion,but it still suffers from poor photocurrent density due to insuffic.ent light‐harvesting effic.ency(LHE),weak photogenerated charge separation effic.ency(Φ_(Sep)),and low water oxidation effic.ency(Φ_(OX)).Herein,we tackle these challenges of the BiVO_(4)photoanodes using systematic.engineering,including catalysis engineering,bandgap engineering,and morphology *** particular,we deposit a NicoO_(x)layer onto the BiVO_(4)photoanode as the oxygen evolution catalyst to enhance theΦ_(OX)of Fe‐g‐c_(3)N_(4)/BiVO_(4)for PEc water oxidation,and incorporate Fe‐doped graphite‐phase c_(3)N_(4)(Fe‐g‐c_(3)N_(4))into the BiVO_(4)photoanode to optimize the bandgap and surface areas to subsequently expand the light absorption range of the photoanode from 530 to 690 nm,increase the LHE andΦ_(Sep),and further improve the oxygen evolution reaction activity of the NicoO_(x)catalytic ***,the maximum photocurrent density of the as‐prepared NicoO_(x)/Fe‐g‐c_(3)N_(4)/BiVO_(4)is remarkably boosted from 4.6 to 7.4 mA cm^(−2).This work suggests that the proposed systematic.engineering strategy is exceptionally promising for improving LHE,Φ_(Sep),andΦ_(OX)of BiVO_(4)‐based photoanodes,which will substantially benefit the design,preparation,and large‐scale application of next‐generation high‐performance photoanodes.

AIM:To explore the factors influencing individuals’willingness to participate in ophthalmic clinical ***:A questionnaire survey was conducted from January to April 2021 among patients and their family members at Zhongshan Ophthalmic center,Sun Yat-sen University,in Guangzhou,*** survey gathered data on respondents’willingness,demographic and socioeconomic profiles,as well as their reasons and concerns regarding engagement in clinical ***:Of the 1078 residents surveyed(mean age 31.2±13.1y;65.8%females)in Guangzhou,749(69.5%)expressed a willingness to participate in future ophthalmic clinical *** characteristics associated with greater willingness included a younger age,lower annual income,higher education,prior participation experience,previous ophthalmic treatment,and a better understanding of clinical *** the exception of age,these characteristics were significantly linked to a higher *** primary barrier to participation,expressed by 64.8%of those willing and 54.4%of those unwilling,was“Uncertain efficacy”.In terms of motivations,the willing group ranked“Better therapeutic benefits”(35.0%),“Professional monitoring”(34.3%),and“Trust in healthcare professionals”(33.1%)as their top three reasons,whereas the unwilling participants indicated“Full comprehension of the protocol”(46.2%)as the key ***:This study reveals a substantial willingness to participate in ophthalmic clinical trials and demonstrates the predictive role of demographic and socioeconomic *** in motivators and concerns between willing and unwilling participants highlight the significance of tailored recruitment ***,the need for and trust in healthcare professionals stand out as powerful motivations,underscoring the importance of enhancing physician-patient relationships,adopting patient-centered communication approaches,and addressing individualized needs to improve accrual rates.

Real-time litchi detection in complex orchard environments: A portable, low-energy edge computing approach for enhanced automated harvesting

Litchi,a succulent and perishable fruit,presents a narrow annual harvest window of under two *** advent of smart agriculture has driven the adoption of visually-guided,automated litchi harvesting ***,conventional approaches typically rely on laboratory-based,high-performance computing equipment,which presents challenges in terms of size,energy consumption,and practical application within litchi *** address these limitations,we propose a real-time litchi detection methodology for complex environments,utilizing portable,low-energy edge computing ***,the litchi orchard imagery is collected to enhance data ***,a convolutional neural network(cNN)-based single-stage detector,YOLOx,is constructed to accurately pinpoint litchi fruit locations within the *** facilitate deployment on portable,low-energy edge devices,we employed channel pruning and layer pruning algorithms to compress the trained model,reducing its size and ***,the knowledge distillation technique is harnessed to fine-tune the *** findings demonstrated that our proposed method achieved a 97.1%compression rate,yielding a compact litchi detection model of a mere 6.9 MB,while maintaining 94.9%average precision and 97.2%average *** 99 frames per second(FPS),the method exhibited a 1.8-fold increase in speed compared to the unprocessed ***,our approach can be readily integrated into portable,low-computational automatic harvesting equipment,ensuring real-time,precise litchi detection within orchard settings.
