Background Protamination and condensation of sperm chromatin as well as DNA integrity play an essential role during fertilization and embryo *** some mammals,like pigs,ejaculates are emitted in three separate fractions:pre-sperm,sperm-rich(sRF)and post sperm-rich(PsRF).These fractions are known to vary in volume,sperm concentration and quality,as well as in the origin and composition of seminal plasma(sP),with differences being also observed within the sRF ***,whether disparities in the DNA integrity and chromatin condensation and pro-tamination of their sperm exist has not been *** This study determined chromatin protamination(chromomycin A3 test,cMA_(3)),condensation(Dibromobi-mane test,DBB),and DNA integrity(comet assay)in the pig sperm contained in the first 10 m L of the sRF(sRF-P1),the remaining portion of the sperm-rich fraction(sRF-P2),and the post sperm-rich fraction(PsRF).While chromatin protamination was found to be similar between the different ejaculate fractions(P>0.05),chromatin condensation was seen to be greater in sRF-P1 and sRF-P2 than in the PsRF(P=0.018 and P=0.004,respectively).Regarding DNA integrity,no differences between fractions were observed(P>0.05).As the sRF-P1 has the highest sperm concentra-tion and ejaculate fractions are known to differ in antioxidant composition,the oxidative stress index(Osi)in sP,calcu-lated as total oxidant activity divided by total antioxidant capacity,was tested and confirmed to be higher in the sRF-P1 than in sRF-P2 and PsRF(0.42±0.06 vs.0.23±0.09 and 0.08±0.00,respectively;Ps index,in addition,was observed to be correlated to the sperm concentration of each fraction(Rs=0.973;Pconclusion While sperm DNA integrity was not found to differ between ejaculate fractions,sRF-P1 and sRF-P2 were observed to exhibit greater chromatin condensation than the *** could be related to the Osi of each fraction.

Meso-Neoarchean fuchsite quartzites are present in different stratigraphic positions of Dharwar craton including the oldest(~3.3 Ga)sargur Group of western Dharwar *** present study deals with the petro-graphic and geochemical characteristics of the fuchsite quartzites from the Ghattihosahalli belt to evaluate their genesis,depositional setting and the enigma involved in the ancient sedimentation *** major mineral assemblages include quartz,fuchsite,and feldspars along with accessory kyanite and *** geochemical com-positions are characterized by high siO_(2),Al_(2)O_(3),low MgO,caO,strongly enriched cr(1326–6899 ppm),Ba(1165–3653 ppm),sr(46–210 ppm),V(107–868 ppm)and Zn(11–158 ppm)contents compared to the upper continental crust(Ucc).The Ucc normalized rare earth element(REE)patterns are characterized by depleted light REE[(La/sm)Ucc=0.33–0.95]compared to heavy REE[(Gd/Yb)_(Ucc)=0.42–1.65]with conspicuous positive Eu-anomalies(Eu/Eu^(*)=1.35–18.27)characteristic of hydrothermal solutions evidenced through the interlayered *** overall major and trace element systematics reflect a combined mafic-felsic provenance and suggest their deposition at a passive continental margin *** comprehensivefield,petrographic,and geo-chemical studies indicate that these quartzites are infiltrated by cr-richfluids released during high-grade metamorphism of associated ultramafic *** sargur and the subse-quent Dharwar orogeny amalgamated diverse lithounits from different tectonic settings,possibly leading to the release of cr-richfluids and the formation of fuchsite quartzite during or after the *** sug-gest a pre-existing stable crust prior to the sargur Group and the link between orogenic events and various mineral deposits in the Dharwar craton.

star-forming processes strongly influence the IsM ***,many high-quality databases are available at millimeter *** them,it is possible to carry out studies that review and deepen previous *** these studies involve large samples of sources,it is preferred to use direct tools to study the molecular *** the aim of testing these tools such as the use of the HcN/HNc ratio as a thermometer,and the use of H^(13)cO^(+),Hc_(3)N,N_(2)H^(+) and c_(2)H as "chemical clocks," we present a molecular line study toward 55 sources representing massive young stellar objects at different evolutionary stages:infrared dark clouds(IRDcs),highmass protostellar objects(HMPOs),hot molecular cores(HMcs) and ultracompact H II *** found that the use of the HcN/HNc ratio as a universal thermometer in the IsM should be taken with care because the HcN optical depth is a big issue that can affect the ***,this tool should be utilized only after a careful analysis of the HcN spectrum,checking that no line,neither the main nor the hyperfine ones,presents absorption *** point out that the analysis of the emission of H^(13)cO^(+),Hc_(3)N,N_(2)H^(+) and c_(2)H could be useful to trace and distinguish regions among IRDcs,HMPOs and *** molecular line widths of these four species increase from the IRDc to the HMc stage,which can be a consequence of the gas dynamics related to the starforming processes taking place in the molecular *** results not only contribute with more statistics,acting as a probe of such chemical tools,useful to obtain information in large samples of sources,but also complement previous works through the analysis of other types of sources.

We apply the local method of fundamental solutions(LMFs)to boundary value problems(BVPs)for the Laplace and homogeneous biharmonic equations in *** appropriately choosing the collocation points,the LMFs discretization yields sparse block circulant system *** a result,matrix decomposition algorithms(MDAs)and fast Fourier transforms(FFTs)can be used for the solution of the systems resulting in considerable savings in both computational time and storage *** accuracy of the method and its ability to solve large scale problems are demonstrated by applying it to several numerical experiments.

A chemo-mechanical model is developed to investigate the effects on the stress development of the coating of polycrystalline Ni-rich LiNixMnyco_(z)O_(2)(x≥0.8)(NMc)particles with poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene)(PEDOT).The simulation results show that the coating of primary NMc particles significantly reduces the stress generation by efficiently accommodating the volume change associated with the lithium diffusion,and the coating layer plays roles both as a cushion against the volume change and a channel for the lithium transport,promoting the lithium distribution across the secondary particles more ***,the lower stiffness,higher ionic conductivity,and larger thickness of the coating layer improve the stress *** paper provides a mathematical framework for calculating the chemo-mechanical responses of anisotropic electrode materials and fundamental insights into how the coating of NMc active particles mitigates stress levels.

Background Despite their low abundance in sperm, mitochondria have diverse functions in this cell type, includ-ing energy production, signalling and calcium regulation. In humans, sperm mitochondrial DNA content(mtDNAc) has been reported to be negatively linked to sperm function and fertility. Yet, the association between mtDNAc and sperm function in livestock remains unexplored. For this reason, this study aimed to shed some light on the link between mtDNAc and sperm function and fertilising potential in pigs. A qPcR method for mtDNAc quantification was optimised for pig sperm, and the association of this parameter with sperm motility, kinematics, mitochondrial activity, and fertility was subsequently *** First, the q PcR method was found to be sensitive and efficient for mtDNAc quantification in pig sperm. By using this technique, mtDNAc was observed to be associated to sperm motility, mitochondrial activity and in vivo, but not in vitro, fertility outcomes. specifically, sperm with low mtDNAc were seen to exhibit greater motility but decreased mitochondrial activity and intracellular reactive oxygen species. Background The invasion success of introduced freshwater fishes is influenced by many factors, including ecological, species, and socioeconomic characteristics. Most studies that document the importance of these characteristics are conducted at local scales and/or focus on a single step of the invasion process. In this study, we aim to determine the species characteristics, ecological characteristics, and socioeconomic characteristics of non-native freshwater fish invasions. Our assessment was done at the global scale and considers all three steps of the invasion(i.e., introduction, establishment, and impact). For this purpose, we applied generalized linear models to 20 variables collected for 307 non-native species and modeled them as a function of ecological characteristics(i.e., environmental features), species traits(i.e., functional and morphological), and socioeconomic characteristics(i.e., human use and introduction pathways). We considered the number of countries in which each species was introduced, established, or had ecological impacts as a proxy of invasion step success. We also explored the specifics of species introduced through the aquaculture and the ornamental fish trade *** We found that non-native freshwater fishes with broad diets, high parental care, and multiple introduction pathways are the most widely introduced and established worldwide. The number of countries with impacts reported was best explained by the type of introduction pathway(i.e., aquaculture or fisheries). Moreover, among non-native species introduced through aquaculture, those belonging to cypriniformes and having broad diets were the most widely introduced and established species.
