In this study,the role of melanopsin-expressing retinal ganglion cells(mRGcs) in the glaucoma-induced depressive behavioral response pattern was *** cFP-D2 transgenic glaucoma animal model from five age groups was used in this *** labeling,quantitative analysis of mRGc morphology,open field test(OFT),and statistical analysis were *** comparison with c57 BL/6 mice,the age-matched cFP-D2 mice had significantly elevated intraocular pressure(IOP).We observed parallel morphological changes in the retina,including a reduction in the density of cyan fluorescent protein(cFP) expressing cells(cells mm 2 at 2 months of age,1309±26;14 months,878±30,Pcs(2 months,48±3;14 months,19±4,Pcs(2 months,1283±80;14 months,950±31,Pcs(5 months,50.17%±5.5%;14 months,12.61%±3.8%,Pction in the dendritic field size of mRGcs(mm2 at 2 months,0.077±0.015;14 months,0.065±0.015,PcFP-D2 mice had hyperactive locomotor activity patterns based on OFT findings of the total distance traveled,number of entries into the center,and time spent in the center of the testing *** glaucoma induced hyperactive response pattern could be associated with dysfunctional mRGcs,most likely Brn-3b-positive mRGcs in cFP-D2 mice.

Preparation and elements analysis of porous fluorescent glasses

A large variety of porous fluorescent glasses were prepared and the concentration of different elements in these glasses was analyzed. The start porous glasses were soaked in a solution containing soluble salts and then heated at 650 ℃ for 3 h to decompose the salts in the pores into oxides. Fluorescent agents, such as UO3, Eu2O3, were impregnated into the porous glasses to prepare the fluorescent glasses. The results show that soaking is a feasible method to prepare the glass sphere with compositions distinguishable from each other and easy to be located in a complicated background. Six or more components can be impregnated together into one glass sample and the concentration of them can be analyzed accurately. UO3 and Eu2O3 can be impregnated into porous glass to make the glass strongly fluorescent. Higher concentration of Eu2O3 produces stronger fluorescence while higher concentration of UO3 reduces the fluorescence intensity because of the concentration quenching effect.

Nanolaminated Ti3Alc2honeycomb monolith with parallel and uniform holes has been prepared through a facile extrusion route by using Ti3Alc2powder as the main raw *** fabricated honeycomb monolith has high compressive strength of 133 ± 11 and 59 ± 9 MPa,along and perpendicular to the extrusion direction,*** also has good electrical conductivity,and excellent match of thermal expansion coefficient with the washcoat material of γ-*** combined properties endow the honeycomb monolith a promising candidate as catalysis substrate for cleaning vehicle exhaust.

Immunoexpression of cyclooxygenase-2 in primary gastric carcinomas and lymph node metastases

AIM: To evaluate immunoexpression of cyclooxygenase-2 (cOX-2) in primary gastric carcinomas and respective lymph node metastases. METHODS: Immunohistochemistry to analyze cOX-2 expression was performed on tissue microarray slices obtained from 36 specimens of gastrectomy and satellite lymph nodes from patients with gastric carcinoma. RESULTS: Immunostaining was seen in most cases, and cOX-2 expression was higher in lymph node me-tastases than in corresponding primary gastric tumors of intestinal, diffuse and mixed carcinomas, with a statistically signif icant difference in the diffuse histotype (P = 0.0108). cONcLUSION: cOX-2 immunoexpression occurs frequently in primary gastric carcinomas, but higher expression of this enzyme is observed in lymph node metastases of the diffuse histotype.

Impacts of Anthropogenic Forcings and El Nio on chinese Extreme Temperatures

This study investigates the potential influences of anthropogenic forcings and natural variability on the risk of summer extreme temperatures over china. We use three multi-thousand-member ensemble simulations with different forcings （with or without anthropogenic greenhouse gases and aerosol emissions） to evaluate the human impact, and with sea surface temperature patterns from three different years around the E1 Nino-Southern Oscillation （ENSO） 2015/16 event （years 2014, 2015 and 2016） to evaluate the impact of natural variability. A generalized extreme value （GEV） distribution is used to fit the ensemble results. Based on these model results, we find that, during the peak of ENSO （2015）, daytime extreme tem- peratures axe smaller over the central china region compared to a normal year （2014）. During 2016, the risk of nighttime extreme temperatures is largely increased over the eastern coastal region. Both anomalies are of the same magnitude as the anthropogenic influence. Thus, ENSO can amplify or counterbalance （at a regional and annual scale） anthropogenic effects on extreme summer temperatures over china. changes are mainly due to changes in the GEV location parameter. Thus, anomalies are due to a shift in the distributions and not to a change in temperature variability.

Due to the instructive role of the peristaltic phenomenon in the human body, interests have been developed in recent years towards peristaltic transport with various thermo-physical *** current investigation reveals the effects of the magnetic field and variable transport properties on the peristaltic transport of a casson fluid slip flow through an inclined *** coupled partial differential equations regulate the fluid flow. Through the perturbation method, the momentum and energy equations are solved for small values of variable viscosity and thermal conductivity, and the closed-form solution is obtained for mass transfer. The impact on physiological quantities of related parameters of interest is evaluated and discussed via graphs. The results obtained for the current flow represent some interesting behaviors which have applications in the biomedical field.

Usually multiple quality of service (QoS) guarantees are required in most multicast applications. This paper presents a multiple con-straints algorithm for multicast traffic engineering in mobile ad hoc networks (MANET). The proposed algorithm is a new version of multiple constraints QoS multicast routing optimization algorithm in MANET based on genetic algorithm (MQMGA). The proposed MQMGA can optimize the maximum link utilization, the cost of the multicast tree, the selection of the long-life path, the average delay and the maximum end-to-end delay. Experimental result shows that the approach is efficient, has promising performance in multicast traffic engineering and for evaluating the route stability in dynamic mobile networks.

Distortion Regions near the Grain Boundary and Their Effects on Nanocrystalline Materials

The distortion regions near grain boundaries in α-Fe-c solid solution were studied by the use of internal friction method. It is found that the total thickness of these regions is quite large though the thickness of real grain boundaries is usually very thin. It is also found that the smaller the grain size is, the thicker the total distortion region is got. A model for the structure of distortion regions near grain boundaries is proposed. Their effects on nanocrystalline materials are discussed.

Nitrogen Mineralization in Soils Along a Vegetation chronosequence in Hong Kong

This research examined nitrogen mineralization in the top 10 cm of soils along a vegetation gradient in Hong Kong at sites where fire has been absent for 0, 1, 3, 6 and 17 years (at the time of the study), and the relationships between N mineralization and successional development of vegetation in the absence of fire. The sites including a newly burnt area (S1), short grassland (S2), tall grassland (S3), mixed tall grassland and shrubland (S4), and woodland (S5) were selected,and the in situ core incubation method was used to estimate nitrogen mineralization. Throughout the 60-day incubation in four periods, more nitrogen was mineralized at the S3 and S4 sites, the predominantly grassland sites, which contained the highest levels of soil organic matter (SOM) and total Kjeldahl nitrogen (TKN), than the S1 site, while immobilization occurred at the S2 and S5 sites. Leaching loss decreased with successional development of the vegetation, in the order of S1 ＞ S2 ＞ S3 ＞ S4 ＞ S5. The pattern of nitrogen uptake with ecological succession was less conspicuous, being complicated by the immediate effect of fire and possibly the ability of the woodland species to extract nitrogen from the deeper *** the absence of fire for 3 to 6 years, the build-up of SOM and TKN was accompanied by active mineralization, thus paving the way for the invasion of shrub and tree species. A close relationship existed between nitrogen mineralization and ecological succession with this vegetation gradient. Inherent mechanisms to preserve nitrogen in a fire-prone environment including immobilization and uptake and the practical relevance of nitrogen mineralization to reforestation are discussed.

Sideband-controllable soliton pulse with bismuth-based erbium-doped fiber

A sideband-controllable soliton mode-locked erbium-doped fiber laser is successfully demonstrated utilizing the nonlinear polarization rotation technique. The sidebands can be produced or suppressed by performing simple polarization light tuning with a polarization controller. It is believed that the elimination of the sidebands is due to the dispersive waves that are filtered out by the polarization-dependent isolator in the resonator. With the elimination of the Kelly sidebands, the obtained 3 d B bandwidth is 10.6 nm and the attainable pulse duration is0.86 ps. In this experiment, it is proven that the existence of Kelly sidebands limits the attainable pulse duration.
